I am 68 and I remember old Mustangs and Camaros quite well. Until I saw this video, I never realized how much this model of Mustang resembled a Camaro from the late 60's.
wow, craig. incredible find. this is my era and both my kids currently daily a '71 Blazer and a '68 Bronco. no computers, lane departure system, blind spot monitoring, blah, blah. I tell them "you gotta learn to DRIVE the car". it's not going to do the driving for you. thx for another great vid.
I have a 73, too. Pastel Blue with white top and Corinthian White interior. It is an absolutely gorgeous car. My first was a 1966 hardtop coupe in Wimbledon White and ice blue interior. I loved my 66 and wish I still had it, but, MAN, do I love my big nose 73!!! No luggage rack like the one in this video.
I had a 1973 Mustang Grande', 302-2V. Before today I have never seen a luggage rack on a Mustang. Lots of non-stock items under the hood too - valve covers, hoses, air filter, etc. I will say it is in excellent shape!
Pop in lighters too. FUnny story, my Grandpa used to own a n old Wheel Horse lawnmower and even that damn thing came with a lighter in it, so you could smoke half a pack while cutting your grass! No need for an ash tray though.
Just bought a 73 convertible the same as yours in white with a black roof. It’s an amazing looking vehicle. Needs some TLC but in a few months looking forward to driving it on our British summertime roads.
The 71-73 mustang fastbacks were never a fan of mine, but the converts are beautiful. That one is a doll. The only change I would make is the wheels, torque thrusts or slots are period correct and would make it pop.
The luggage rack was necessary because the trunk space wasn't that great. "Positraction" was a GM term for their limited-slip axle. Ford Motor Co. had "Traction-Lok," and Chrysler Corp. had "Sure-Grip." The cover for retracted convertible top protected it from getting "beat up" by the whipping of the wind.
Looks great Craig. I love the post 71 cars now as you can get a classic without the 6 figure price tag of a 1970 model. Most people by now have built a faster motor for their smog cars and that was the only difference
BTW: that luggage rack was more for decoration but also it was added because you lost trunk space due to the rag top. Lots of European vehicles came with luggage racks.
My stepdad had same car in hardtop 351, and called it the turd. My dad had a 69 rs/ss camaro ( jealous, I guess) however the ol mustang was built and would fly
My buddy at the time got his dad to buy him a brand new 73 Mach 1. White with black interior. It was spectaculary beautiful. Sadly, he got it with the 302 2v engine which had 140hp! My buddy did not know about how much cars had changed by 73 and thought the 302 was the same one ss the Boss 302. As much as i tried to get him to get the 351 4v he wouldnt budge. Sadly, it was as fast as a heavy stone. I think 0-60 was about 9 seconds and the quarter was around 18 seconds. I recall my buddy racing a Mazda RX3 at a stop light and getting absolutely crushed! He couldnt believe it. But the car was really great looking, though i preferred the 70-72 years because of the bumpers looking so much better than the government mandated plastic bumpers of the 73.
Unfortunately they butchered the dash putting those speakers in. Removing them would require a replacement dash. All things considered though it is looking pretty stock.
Too bad no air conditioning. I would replace the braided hoses with stock. Totally out of place on this car. Still,it’s pretty nice! The next year was the first year for the Mustang II. A Glorified Pinto!
i was working in Switzerland when i saw a old rich guy parading around with this car, you Americans have no idea what is a v8 in Europe or the price of big motors with our taxes and way expensive gas..... what is a trash car for you guys are amazing good cars for the rest of the world even that accord, that is a premium lux sedan its a 3200cc vtec engine most honda guys loose their mind with 2000cc engines..... and you guys consider trash even that s4 in europe is a classic , i way prefer to be driving around in a old but amazing s4 than a prius or the new plastic they pass as cars these days and yes i won a m5 , just for americans to have a reference most people think that Im rich because i have a m5 thats a 120k+ car here.....
Ok I see now, the Nick Gage Gone in 60 seconds was a Jade green restomod similar to the bullet car from the late 60s movie. There was an actual 1974 movie with the 1973 fastback. Very clean car either way. Last of the convertibles.
@@FlyingWheels Craig you’re right. But it was a stripped down Mach1. If I was able to post the pics I had to show you it would explain it. Great convertible by the way. Hope you pull the aftermarket stereo etc out of it to bring more $.
mid 70's might have been the worst time ever for american automotive design. at least the 70's trucks were cool looking but mid 70's cars combined terrible colors, poor design, ill handling and no power.
@@FlyingWheels I'm sure you will find someone to sell it to. but that car with those options in that color is going to be for a very specific person. You seem to buy things you like, doesn't mean everyone is going to have your taste in cars.

As a refugee from the 70s, the round key is to open the trunk. the other key both opens the doors and goes in the ignition.

Great video about a great car! Thank you!
Too funny listening to you going over standard equipment for the 1970s! I could see myself driving down PCH even today and getting thumbs up !
very cool. like when you do the old school cars . 👍🙂😎👌
Loose the wheels and air shoks, get factory am/fm/8track-put engine bay back to stock. Fun project!
Beautiful car.
THIS IS NOT A 302...this is a 351 cleveland...again...THIS IS NOT A 302
In the 70's hood pins were an option, My 70 Challenger had hood pins as well as the regular hood release. That is the way it came from the factory.
love the centerline wheels!!
Great video!
Cool car
Shes a beauty! You should keep it for date night car/disco party with your kids!

I was 10 years 🧓 when that 🚙 can 📤. Brings back memories
12 for me....yup, brings back memories.
That is a pimp's car and it is exceptionally cool. Clearly well looked after. Paint, interior and engine bay are immaculate.
My high school car. Sure miss it.
You lucky that's a beautiful car
Hey Craig, look a little closer and check the VIN code, that mustang is a 351 Cleveland.
You are right, it's not no 302, it has a Cleveland in it.
Yep it's definitely a 351C
Does that add value? What's the difference?
@@MB25toScratch yes the 351 Cleveland does add val
beautiful
I have a 72 mustang grande.

Very cool shap 🍰
Spectacular!

I bought a 73 fastback in 74. Wish I still had it.
Sweet ride
I love it. I am a ford guy.
I WAS a ford guy until I bought an F150 with the 5.4L 3v in it...worst engine ever made.
Moostang ! The original pony car. I am jealous.
SOrry, this isn't the original pony car, the original was built in 1964 (as a 1965).
Love the vids!!
Crank windows like my Ford Fiesta!
oh the 70's... 140HP out of a V8......yeah that's not a 302 Craig...also "two original owners" ?
Looks like a 351 Cleveland to me.
It's a 302. I've seen plenty of that car to know. Many came with the Boss 302.
BTW: that luggage rack was more for decoration but also it was added because you lost trunk space due to the rag top. Lots of European vehicles came with luggage racks.

this feels like a doug demuro video. You go over all the quirks and features of a 73 mustang v8 convertible
Cool car put a postage stamp on it and ship it down to Aus 🇦🇺 please 😜
Nice 👍

The original GI60 seconds featured a ‘71 Boss 351.
Craig, nit pic.... the round key is for the TRUNK only and the square key is for the DOORS and IGNITION.
When is the Jeep video come out? I want to see how it went
not a "wood grain" like vinyl, it was called ginger if I remember correctly
Looks like a 351 Cleveland not a 302
@Bill Barnews engines weren’t based off trim level. You could get a 351c in a base mustang in 73
Cool car. Ditch the 1998 accessories like the engine dress up, wheels and speakers
Unfortunately they butchered the dash putting those speakers in. Removing them would require a replacement dash. All things considered though it is looking pretty stock.
What's the process to get a dealer license where you are
are the color matched bumpers stock? Clean ride for sure, thanks for sharing Craig.
I belemieve so
The painted front bumper was standard on all '73s.
Optional chrome and fog lights. Little different grill. It was a package you could add to the car.
Too bad no air conditioning. I would replace the braided hoses with stock. Totally out of place on this car. Still,it’s pretty nice! The next year was the first year for the Mustang II. A Glorified Pinto!
I had one of these mustang grande great car till I got T boned with a brand new 302 .
Cool car 😎
Careful with those gone in sixty second guys they’re always looking for a come up
I 100% love your mustang but unluckily i don't have the way to buy it
His also had a luggage rack
Car is in nice shape, that generation does nothing for me though.

I used to be same way for a long time (I’m 47) but recently I’ve grown to like that style. I’d still take original 65 style first though for sure.
18k. I say more like 8k
Original owners?
Your kidding about Elenore, right?? Your joking 😃
Why would that be a joke?

Bet he bought low and gonna sell high! (its just business) Color, mods and wheels kill $$ tho.

There's always lots of interest in cars from that era. He'll sell it no problem.
Not the most attractive mustang ugly but a nice 4 or 5000 dollar starter car for someone nice find
It's so ugly though
