A lot of great products were killed of with voc regs Macphersons oil undercoat was the dogs bollocks Also sigma coatings white gloss was still the best I’ve ever used Such a shame
Paint certainly webt downhill with the new regs didnt it ..Sigma disappeared long before 2010 I think...really strong smell, nice finish but didnt cover that well. Builders paint. The one I miss the most is Brolac, their superflat contract emulsion was the business, the only time you had a problem with it was when there was a water shortage! Massive mistake by crown dropping it. They tried to say Eclipse was the same formula...lies!
Phil, they've been pissing in our paint for years now. Up until around 5 or 6 years ago all vinyl matt would cover in 2 apart from when you were going over a really dark colour with a light one when you'd sometimes need 3. I've tried every brand in VM and in the Scrubbabubble but it's minimum 3 coats to cover now. I'm not sure if it's an old EU directive to do with VOC's or something to do with the mining of raw materials but either way we're getting squeezed on the quality of our gear. I've completely sacked off the main 3 in jonnos, crown and dulux and have systematically tried all the smaller ones I.e Tikk, Caparol, Isomat, HMG, etc etc. I'm afraid none of these are much better in terms of opacity but you do get a much better level of customer service. It does look as if the undermining of our paint is set to go on with this ridiculous green dream our politicians seem to keep pedalling. When quoting I always quote for 2 coats with an optional 3rd coat at £X cost underneath. Keep up the great work on the channel mate, thoroughly enjoying it. 👍
Hi Phil after watching ur brush review the other week when I was next in Dulux I asked the manager why they don't sell Sikkens BL undercoat anymore & he assured me they rebranded it & called it Dulux Trade Quick Dry Undercoat, it has a green band across it. Be good if u could compare that with ur Sikkens. I didn't ask about top coat, I will next time I'm in!
I'm two steps in front of you.. Duux has reached out and been in touch... make sure the BELL is pressed so you don't miss he videos coming up. ;) But we'll see if its rebranded.. I'll tell you want I think.
Yeah dulux told me the same and I've used their brand, it doesn't level the same at all, plus dulux brand is interior only, sikkens rubbol bl was meant to be used on exterior as well, dulux told me they had better probucts for exterior than bl. They have ruined a fantastic product.
I've got tiny amounts left in the garage and don't want to use it up,reminds me what a great paint it was, the undercoat beautiful finish, still depressed it's no longer sold :(
100% when dulux took over axo they shifted there formula into the dulux brand, which is now there quick drying satin. The only reason i know this, is because some 6 years ago i decorated a dulux reps house and he explained to me that’s what was happening. At that time i done the whole house ( woodwork ) with the satura BL and they’d re branded the tins too? I think from memory, the writing was black and green? Blimey, my brains not working too well in my older age
Akzo took over Dulux, but I think you are are right about the paint. I was told by someone at Dulux that their waterbased gloss was basically the sikkens formulation. Then a while later the sikkens one disappeared with no explaination.
Most things paint wise and brush wise and any other materials u use have went down hill over the years i think it is all about how much money theses big paint companies can make and just churn out crap products
Yes it is mate I use it now, and you can still get it also so I don’t know what he’s on about as I order it to site most days it’s the best finish satin I’ve had but it’s horrible to use still drips for 3-4 hours after applied
Hi ,just seen this video. I´m a painter from Germany and cant understand why you can no longer get it it. Here in germany its the number one seller in water based paints🤨
they sell the satura (oil) but not the Satura BL (water based). I've no idea why, maybe Azko Nobel / Dulux have re branded it under their own products.

These are water based, so there's no excuse to drop them... So good they were, better than stuff now?
Definitely better

I have noticed that the Dulux Qucik Dry Satin is a massively improved product compared to 4 years ago when it was absolutely appalling.
I've some duluc quick dry pain to demo.. videos coming soon.

I use a 3 inch Hamilton to gloss doors
ideal on a flush door aren't they.
Thanks great vid, 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it

Sikkens is better than Flugger flutex, or Flugger interior high finish ???
I've not heard of those paints.
Is this the one David Wilson homes and barret use on the interior joinery of their new builds.
