- Kenyan Dorcus Ewoi finds another gear in the final meters to win the women's 800m at the 2024 PUMA American Track League: Holloway Pro Classic in 1:58.19. Keely just went 1:54:61
The best thing Mu has going for her at the moment is that she's only 22 years old, so she still has another good 5 years ahead of her, if she can stay healthy.
ten i would say, kelly holmes was 34 winning 800/1500 double at Sydney
atleast 10 more years
@@jensmith3719 But Kelly loved her job, and Mu does not.
umm 5? There are people still running track in their 30's. Stop it.
That is the risk for being one dimensional
I pray athing can find joy in her training and racing despite any results she deserves to feel joy in her sport and god given talents ❤
Sha'Carri and Gabby Thomas had years where they did nothing.
I can't use Abby as an example, because she may not overcome her injury.
@@aredditor4272 amen 🙏🏽 I have experienced these highs and lows. I hope she can ignore the haters and continue to blossom however god Intended. Maybe this is the origin of her comeback story. If not, her loved ones will love and adore her no matter what
she looked quite sad, i hope she picks up and can bounce back, lovely athlete in full flight
This was a race for Athing to get past the mental trauma of the fall. Don't let that 5th place fool you. A "come back" is a process that takes patience. Athing Mu has that patience!
Naw this is not a comeback. This is a failure on multiple levels. First, having bobby kersee as a coach. Second, not allowing a biomechanics coach to help her form (her lagging leg caused her fall). 3rd, she is mentally not there thinking about modeling and brand endorsements.
This is track, she needs to make some changes or its over. Theres always gonna be the next big batch every couple of years.
Mu is just getting back into the saddle. One race at a time. One season at a time. 😊
You all keep being that. She's not comfortable in the sport, she has talent, but she does not seem to enjoy the sport like other athletes at that level. What do your eyes tell you?
If Mu wants a future in this sport, she has to race more often to learn how to race in the pack. It’s a different modern 800m. You can’t just show up for big events and expect to dominate a field thats been race hardened.
Huh what? Yeah sure, Athing Mu needs to adjust to the "modern 800m" because all her successes were from a much older generation of the sport. lmao...
@@frankgrimeson These dummies just say anything online. It's the saddest thing
@@HeadandShouldersATR original comment is right, and thats also why she fell... lost concentration due to not liking her race positioning with less racing than the others prior to the trials
That's the question does she really want to stay on top in this sport. Training for this event is non stop and grueling. And for someone as sensitive as Ms. Mu, disappointment is emotionally devastating. If she wants to comeback, she'll have to mature. And she may have to dig as deep as Mrs. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and realize that this gift of her's is to give glory to The Highest Power. And to be frank, continuing running around half naked in front of the mob, may no longer be her shtick.
@@Someone-hi1nt that's nothing to do with it. You failed. She has been involved in trips and falls, even in college, USA trials the first time, etc. Every single year.
You guys online say ANYTHING. Collegiate athletes race more than professionals, and she STILL had this problem.
The solution by Bobby Kersee was to just run on the outside of lane 1 the whole way around the track, due to her legs. Imo, wrong way to do it, but that's the solution he came up with.
Before you guys speak/type, actually think and use Google 🤦🏿♂️🙄 you telling me you don't recall 2021 when she tripped Akin? Or same year and she tripped in the 400 indoor? Or more.?
Something is not clicking. Did she quit? It seems mental. I hope that she finds her passion and joy for running again. She's young enough for a comeback.
Damn I actually feel really bad for her rn 😔
Nice to see Mu running again. Shame she didn't race at the Diamond League meeting
1.58.19 would have placed 10th in that race
Athing needs to get serious counciling and change her coach. Mental, not physical problem.
yeah... her coach is the main reason why she is underperforming
This issue I have is she's gotten away from the 400m. I believe she would have been a consistent 1:54 runner inching towards 1:53.
The winner here ran 158+. Mu has run 154+. If she is herself she's still a great one.
Give the winner her flowers 💐
Congratulations D.Ewoi👏👏🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪💪
Congrats Dorcas Ewoi on blowing away the rest of the field. Don't know why everyone's mentioning the 5th place finisher.
Maybe because we don't care about a mediocre time by a foreigner?
@@phoebus That foreigner moped the floor with all the local competitors that their times might as well be irrelevant if hers was mediocre, this included a washed up former Olympic and world champion gold medalist, but feel free to go on.
@@currymuncher4090 Mu ran 1:54.97 less than a year ago, obviously for whatever reason she was nowhere near her best in this race. When your girl breaks 1:55.00 or wins some gold medals on the World stage let me know.
@@phoebus From winning gold medals at the world stage, breaking 1:55 to getting floored by a recent 6th place finisher at the NCAA championships and finishing 5th while badly fading away with a time of ~2:00 at what's basically a B/C level event. Can you say 'washed up'?
Guess she'll always have her previous gold medals on the world stage and time of sub 1:55 to fall back on.
Maybe its because she is the reigning gold medalist? You guys want attention for the other runners then have them achieve what Mu has achieved.
So good to see her back. She's still young ,,,
I dont need to watch anymore, the title just told me everything i need to know😁
She’s coming back from a hamstring most don’t know this. Her only races prior were the trials. As a former runner who’s hurt their hamstring and came during championship time, it’s difficult to go full out when your body is still recovering. There's the huge fear of re-injury. All my love to Athing ❤
Well said! In proud to see her continuing her season.
Mu should really think about a new coach and support team. Her development has clearly stalled. She looks like shes running with anxiety (uncertainty) and a lack of experience running in a pack. The modern 800m is a physical pack race. She is not strong enough given the length of her levers (limbs) to withstand the bumping and tangling that happens at that level. Her couch is not a middle distance specialist. Not a hater here, just a technical look at her races since the Eugene meet last year when she lost for the first time. Its like the world has passed her and shes regressing. Its sad and painful to watch. She doesn't seem to be having fun. That will limit her time in the sport. Its too hard otherwise if you only race the big races. Nike should help her out by insisting she do a certain amount of racing if healthy. The others are doing 8 - 12 meets a season. She does 3 or less. Experience matters at this level more than talent. Ask all the other talented 800m women. The best to her for the future.
I agree with everything that you said.
Athing needs to focus on the 400. She gets tripped up with too many people in the 800
Frrrr she would do great in the 400
Frrrr she would do great in the 400
Mu should fire her coach. Her decline since 2021 has been sad to watch.
FACTS
Since 2022*
Kelsey is a terrible coach
@@billricheter5678Sydney doesn’t think so
@@drepark2294 Just wait for her lack of racing and international competition to come back and bite her, which it surely will, and she might change her mind.
Ating Mu needs to change Coach
Pace yourself Mu. Nice and easy. Get those race Instincts and confidence back.
Great commentary (!) where the eventual winner's name is not mentioned ONCE, until the last 200 m of the race, when she surges into the lead. Perhaps the commentators need to do more homework before they pontificate.
Yeah, Kenyan wouldn't have been in contention if Mu had a normal race, and also, started back in 6th/7th for first half of race.
Yall people complain too much on petty and irrelevant things.
Ewoi had a PB, which means that was unexpected from a viewer point of view
Where was Mu's kick? Looked like she just ran out the last 200m not trying to win.
My heart went out to mow emotional better to be in a crowd like that in the tryouts hopefully that lesson taught it won't happen again God loves
Track and field is a what have you done for me lately type of business.
She's going to get her full confidence back. I was scouring to find her. I hope she is coming back.
She should move to the 400m
Absolutely
100 percent. She would be so successful there
CONGRATULATIONS EWOI.... 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Commentor was incorrect; Mary Decker, 800 m: 1:56.90 (1985) 1500 m: 3:57.12 (1983
Get away from Coach Kersee
Finished at 22 800 got her psych out
❤❤❤❤ congratulations my kenyan girl❤
Mu clearly unfit
Needs a different coach that can get her to race more.
Perhaps it still because she’s recovering from injury
kersey ruined her. She done
She has all the talent in the world but, even when she was winning races early in her career she never seemed confident or comfortable in what she was doing. Mentally not prepared, and falling and not making the Olympic team definitely doesn't help. She really needs to start from square one again and because shes young she doesn't need to push it. Should also change coach.
I think mu was paid to appeared. Heck, I dont know what she was paid, but if someone throws 30,000 dollars fore 2 mi nute, will or loose, who wouldn't take the bait?
Mu looks like she might retire.
Something wrong with Mu
Looks like it over for Athing ,she should start modeling like she kept reminding us
Wasn't this the meet where Mu said she was going for the World Record?
I'm tired of everyone saying Ms Mu fell, she was tripped from behind, plain and simple.
2:00 is still an amazing time for athing. You can’t be A game every year, this is great consistency
It's not a good time for a runner of her calibre.
It's been a slow slide down since she joined Bobby Kersee.
@@emf6621Agreed
No, a runner of her level and with her PB should be capable of running 1:58 in their sleep let alone 2:00, this not amazing by any means and both her and her team will know this
Mu who?
My has to race more
Thanks for the coverage! But…c’mon, Flotrack…you should know better than NBC and not put the results in the title! PLEASE! ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️
She was clearly jogging. Meeting contractual obligations with her sponsors.
Mu is not fully healthy
Mu championships are over
Athing Mu is wounded and those other 4 runners smelled blood.
lol wait until mr 100k find out about this
Time to move on,she's not getting better she's getting worse, by alot
“Theres a fire under this woman” thats some horse ____. Look at her, shes not prepared, nervous and with no confidence. I like athing but she has to get real and realize what she wants.
It's "moo", guys, not "Moe".
@firstnamelastname8060 You are incorrect, it's pronounced Moe!
@@mstrunn NOW it is. Her parents literally corrected everyone on Int'l TV that it is pronounced "uh-THING Mu" Not "aaah-thing Moe"
Those commentators dont recognise africans bt see them ....who won it?!
She must have lost her motivation
just appears to me she is having zero fun. Her face around race time for a couple of years has looked tortured. I could understand why the world spotlight would be too much for athletes who aren't sure why they are there anymore.
Athing Mu should retire...shes done....
That’s a bit extreme, but something is wrong with her program
@@jaahmaan1 I don't think there's anything wrong with her program, I think she gave up. I think she could have easily won that
She didn’t look smooth, like something was bothering her… but her heart may not be in it anymore. She talked about quitting last year
@@JPSenpai I don’t think she could have won that , you saw the pain on her face after 700m , she was spent , her strength wasn’t there,
I can’t see her intentionally embarrassing herself if she could have won that race
She said on a podcast that she loves modeling more than running track. Her heart hasn't been in this for a while. It might be over for her, looks like her confidence might be broken as well after that fall. Sad to see 😢 Its all mental at this point cuz she has the talent. Hopefully she gets past this 🙏🏾
