- Had a customer tow a truck into the shop today that came from another shop that told him the engine has no compression and will need replaced. Lets see if they are right or if we can get it started.

Man I love the sound of a 7.3😍
My 1995 sat for 12 years. I put batteries in it and fed it some ether, and it started right up.
Thats awesome!
@@hrdieselthat 7.3L Ford starter sounds like it’s laughing lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It doesn’t need the glow pug relay to start if it is warm out. Mine wasn’t working for a few years, and the truck started up just fine, as long as it wasn’t cold out. If it was cold out, I would just plug in the block heater for a few hours, and it would start in the cold. I finally replaced my glow plug relay this year. By the way, the glow plugs draw around 90 to 100 amps when they work. I think you finally got enough oil pressure, and that is why it started, but I don’t know how cold it was there when you were working on it. Mine would start without the relay when it was around 50 degrees outside. Anything colder, and I would have to use the block heater. No problem starting in the cold now with the new glow plug relay.
Mate - I will absolutely tap that like button - well deserved. Informative in terms of explaining about the HEUI system and how to do the basic's when having a crank-no start.
Very happy to see people take care of theese old dinosaurs - not all have the money to drive a new vehicle or a Greta T. approved ride...
Blessings from Norway 👌👍
Thank you very much!!!
I got a 03 7.3 service truck just hit 225k runs mint 👌
Those old 7.3 power stroke are hard to kill. Good job being her to fire up.
Those are very hard to kill!
They are very good engines
Hi I’m sow happy for you , I just bought a 1999 7.3 slow crank no start , I put new battery’s , still slow start , we check the wires, ground connections , we connected power directly to the starter, still a slow crank , I just ordered a new starter , and yes my glow plug connections looks rusty , i tough they are just for cold season, I can feel how happy you are , man against machine. 😢😢😂🎉
Good luck! On a 7.3 the temps dont have to drop much before they need glow plugs
weak starters are a common no start. put a big Denso on it. get er spinning fast
This is a great video! Keep up the great work it is super interesting and cool learning more about these diesels!
Thank you! I love working on older diesels.
Well done, Sir. She sounds great.
If you bought the truck and cleaned it up a bit with all the fixens, she would be an awesome tow rig for a camper or heavier setup. Nice Pickup
Yep that truck is still a really good truck however the owner has his own plans for it. I think he wants to turn it into a tow rig of some kind
Good job
Hotshot Secret Stiction Eliminator additive to the oil will solve a lot of issues.
Awesome job! saving this video for when I find a decent diesel truck with a HEUI system that's a will crank but no start.
Glad it helped!
CPS, IPR, HPOP, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Glow Plugs, Injectors. Just replaced all of those and she'll fire up easy. :) Good video though.
that RPM needle didn't even budge 9:52 I would've thrown a CPS at it immediatly almost gurantee that CPS is going out... intermittent working is pretty common for a old one or a bad one. and it just will die and not start. and randomy might start working. if the customer brings it back because it randomly dies. or shuts off or won't turn back on throw a CPS in it.
Good catch! The customer hasn't picked it up yet so Im going to check into it. Thanks for bringing that up!
I put a new cps from ford dealer in my 7.3 and it’ll still randomly die driving or coming to a stop more frequently
@@georgep.2952is the oil level good? Is it way past change time or real dirty?
Look into your icp sensor and or ipr valve see if they have oil on the plug connector...also u can check for the common wire chaffing on the valve cover
Oh sorry u did say u installed a new icp sensor....tell u what though there's a good chance your ipr siloinoid nut unscrewed and fail in the valley of the engine..so every time u go to stop the silionoid slides not making good contact..hopes that helps
I was curious to see if there was any significant blowby.
I notice a really bad knock when you have it starting with the camera(us) in the front of the dually
Yes it cleared up with some run time. The injectors were sitting for several years and I suspect they needed cleaned up
I try starting a old 7.3idi that sat in a field and when it finally went a huge packrat nest came ahooting out the exhaust.
167,000 miles. That motor is still a baby.
Looked like it has oil in the coolant reservoir though
great job!
7.3 the strong bullet proof
Yeaaaa good man awesome
V10 on the fender ? It’s a gasser ?
