Exciting car. I subbed to see how it progresses. I very much vote against gutting this car and salvaging its guts, I think this exact chassis needs to be saved no matter what, super rare E36. Oh, if you can, up the resolution and bitrate of the videos, felt like I was watching a 2008 gopro footage.

If it was you, how much would you say is a reasonable sum to restore this chassis?
      Because I'm being quoted some eye-watering ££££

The clears were an ALPINA option (same as the M3 mirrors). You need to check the original build spec to know how it came from Buchloe. Many had clears from new.
Also, I think you’ll find you won’t be able to drive in ULEZ for free. Later E46 B3’s are compliant but not the E36’s

Interesting about ULEZ - when I first bought the car, it was marked as free to drive, but it's stopped sadly. :(
Do you know where I could find a full factory spec list from, using an Alpina chassis number?

Nice find, subscribed for updates! :)
Ps. Unfortunately I think you’ll find that this car is not ULEZ-free - in the absence of an emissions rating on the V5, the onus will be on you to prove it’s compliant (which it isn’t, officially)

Prefacelift e36’s didn’t come with traction control. Was only the facelift’s i.e m52 onwards.
Personally prefer the earlier cars myself

I have a ‘special equipment’ pricelist from 1993 that says otherwise
You could either have traction control, or a limited slip differential, but strangely not both… 😮

I go for amber. But you don't even have original ALPINA rims. Throw this car away, in Germany we would say it´s a "Groschengrab".

    • @CarsofAsel
      @CarsofAsel  4 дні тому

Oh? What makes you think they're not original rims?

Your tire valve is at the outer ring. Alpina wheels have the valve under the center cover.

      @@MrMuckinger Ah not quite.
Pre-1996, the valve was indeed on the outside - these were called the 'Hardline' wheels.
'Softline' wheels had the valve stems within the cap. :)
