    Honestly, I would unhaul anything you don't love. That way you can have some space for new books, instead of keeping stuff like The Princess Diaries, which if I remember you didn't even like! But taking off the door will be helpful too!

    Gavin, good catch on fixing the backward shelf and the room looks great. Being a collector myself I know you will always run out of space before you run out of books. I would recommend that before you purchase anymore books, that you read all of the books that you have now. After completing this mission, then (if you have the space) purchase more books. Following this formula and in the long run it will save you money, time and room space.

    the fairy lights really pulled it all together. everything looks so cozy! if you don't mind a more eclectic look to your shelves, you can do some Tetris style organizing and having multiple layers (kinda like Kayla's shelves). That's how I do mine since I'm limited on shelf space too

    Love the @Nerdforge reference! If you take the doors off, you won't need to unscrew the hinges. There is a pin that connects the hinge halves together, you can pop that out and take the door off. Remember to put the pin back into the hinge on the door frame so you don't lose it 🙂

  • @ecr.7695
    @ecr.7695 6 місяців тому +15

    The main library door should be gone since it obstructs the room. Keep the smaller bookcase since it's the right height to put snacks, drinks, and current reads next to your reading chair. If you're going to do double-stacking, maybe start with any doubles (if there's still some of them), series (like putting the rest behind the book facing outward), or having risers in the back so that you can see the ones in the back (you can buy those but also use whatever works for you; also this is a good choice for the manga bookshelves). Just some suggestions for your library.

    10 minutes in, love love love!! Love book organization and seeing how people organize their home book spaces!! I moved all my books into my room end of last year. As an adult dork/geek I now have all my collectibles in my living room, and my room is my library. I love having them so close to me. I will say, one thing that helped me was using extension cords for all the outlets. I would put them first and then the bookcases on the walls/over the outlets with the extension cords. That way, if I needed to plug something in then I have easy access to the extension cord and not have to worry about moving a bookcase.

    Good job squeezing everything in. You can get short and shallow shelves to put in front of the stair railing for more space. In the future of course, because you are not spending money on books now! :) In the reading room, would it be possible to mount the smaller graphic novel bookcase? And then you could put your chair more at the angle you wanted.

  • @katiewinn2660
    @katiewinn2660 6 місяців тому +5

    I think it's a great start! 💖 I'll add my vote for taking the door off the library room since you don't need it in your circumstance. I also think that for the Cressida books, maybe since you didn't want to do another unhaul yet you could compromise by doing a modified version of Becca's Shelve it or Scrap It? Challenge yourself to read through your middle grades until you remove enough low-rated ones that the Cressida series will fit. (You can even break it up into parts so you shelve 3 or so books at a time and don't have to totally abandon the videos you've already planned.) Looking forward to the shelf tour down the line, and the updates on the neighbor drama. 😅 Keeping my fingers crossed that whatever happens, the huskies continue to be cared for.

    for your book shelf extenders on top id look to put your taller and larger books there as you cant adjust the shelf and then try to change stacking arrangements from there. For the cude shelf if its also ikea or the same dimensions as ikea they mak inserts fo those as well.
    as for some of your colectables you can always put those on a side table or on the square shelfs on the top for in the futur. Looks great.
    also for your lights. Look into a timer or smart plug so you can program an control the lights with your phone.

    omg the mystery of not enough space 😅
    I just made my reading corner and I was so tired and you have waaaay more books than I do (I got back to reading only last year), seriously hands down you did such a good job with these!
    Also I agree with taking the door down.

      @@GavinReadsItAll Everything is better if we dance. And your library is amazing - a dream in the evening, i am so happy for you. The nostalgic island made me quite emotional, so many years are gone too fast. Hug the little ones! Thank you for such a treat!♥♥♥

    Lovely library rooms! You could replace the doors with bifold doors at a later date. It would give you a little more wall space.

    It looks so cosy with the fairy lights. My home has a similar layout upstairs and it’s definitely challenging getting the bookshelves to fit!

    I took the doors off my closets at my old apartment and it really gave me so much more space. Just put them back on whenever you move again.
