I’m 40 and live with my mom. I have a full time job but don’t make enough to live on my own in today’s economy. It has been just me and my mom since my parents divorced when I was 9. She is now at the age where her memory is starting to fail and she is having more accidents. So me living at home really benefits both of us.
Keep the evidence of the leaks and your messages to the landlord about asking him to fix it just in case he tries to take you to court... congratulations on your new place 🥳🥳🥳
I'm 28, and live at home. I just really enjoy living with my family. I like cooking for them and I can't take the dogs if I move out. People try to shame me and it sucks. I am saving up. My brother moved out when he was 30 years old and it's why he could afford to buy his house! So good for him.
There is absolutely no shame in living with your parents. One of my kids also came home after college and lived with us until she was about 30. We were happy to have her and she was able to save lots of money. Enjoy your new home!
I'm 34 and my sister is 28. We still live with our parents, and there's no shame in it. Live alone with an expensive rent in this economy? Not for me. We get along well compared with the majority of other families, so I don't see me moving any time soon.
On the other side of that-my oldest son is nearly 20 and he (and his little brothers) can stay with us for as long as they want/need to. We love having our kids around ❤
I only moved out at 28 because I moved in with my partner. Living alone feels almost impossible these days. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with living with family with how the world is right now ♥️
I'm 33 and also still live with my Mum! 😊We're Asians though, so it has always been the norm for children to still live with their parents until they get married, even when they're adults. Most of my unmarried friends also still live with their parents. My Mum has just been on an accident too, so it's nice to be able to help her out.
I’m 27 and I still live at home. I honestly can’t afford it on my own, I’m saving and my mom is understanding but when I find a state I can afford that my job can transfer me too, I’m home
About the Lego, almost all instructions are available online for free. It can be a little tedious to use a screen instead of the manuals but as long as you still have all the pieces you should be able to fix it 😊
I’m 29 and still live at home, it’s perfectly normal in Latin America. I’ve never felt weird about it. If I didn’t get along with my parents or had no privacy or wanted to leave, I would, but it’s never been something I feel like I need to do for other people to think I’m a grownup or serious person. It’s such a silly expectation in other cultures imo.
I kind of heard that in the UK it is frown about to keep the kitties only inside, but I would strongly advise to not let them go outside, especially if they lived up until now inside. take care!!!
I'm 33, have owned and lost my own home and have rented, now back living with family where the mortgage is already paid, there's space for all my stuff and I pay a fraction of what I did before. I absolutely support anyone who stays home as long as they can and also in more cultures than not it is normal to always live with family! That sounds like a landlord that needs reporting to be honest, if nothing else that's a health hazard he's ignored! I love that you're already happier in your new home and I wish you all the best with your new place!
Yay I'm so happy for you that you finally moved! Watching you for years in a house that you were not happy living in, with a landlord who sounds awful. I really hope you're going to be so much happier in your new place
Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad about it, there is no shame in living with family and sharing resources! In many parts of the world it is normal for families to stick together for their entire lives. You're doing fine!
I’m so glad you got moved!! You deserve it!! 😊 🎉🎉 Also there are outdoor “Catios/cat runs” you can get if you are worried about your boys being outside especially with dogs next door 🤷🏻♀️ something to look at if your interested 😊 So happy for you Gavin! 🎉🎉 🤩🤩😁😁
I’m 39 and I still live with my parents. I was chronically ill for a long time and reeling from the end of a 12+ year relationship that I thought was going to be my forever. My parents also need someone here to help them. I’m so grateful to hear from other people living with their parents/families later on in life. 💜
Get an outside cat run/enclosed play area for the cats, much safer for them than letting them roam outside. They would love the yard and they will be safe 😊
I lived with my parents until last year when I was 30 and only moved out finally because I had enough saved for a deposit for a mortgage which makes my flat way cheaper than a rented one and it's all mine! So worth doing and no shame in staying with family! I love my parents and had no issues living with them but they wanted to move and downsize and I wanted my own place near my work. Now I have a cute little home with a cat and I'm very happy :) this is a joy to watch and I love your cats so much! Being from Newcastle watching you always feels like just hanging out with a friend :)
I can't even tell you how happy I am to hear you talk about how its okay to still be living with your parents at whatever age.. Just know it means so much to me (and clearly lots of other people!) thanks Gav
I'm 34 and 6 yrs ago I decided to live with my mom again ❤ it was a decision for financial stability and also helped me mentally a lot. she was very lonely (we have a dog) and needs someone to take care of her as she's getting older. I'm so glad I'm not the only one here! anyway what. a. rollercoaster! I cannot believe the nerve of these people calling you ON THE DAY THAT YOU'RE MOVING if you have cats. And not your baby giving you the scare of a lifetime during your first morning coffee 😢 I did laugh when you mentioned he was stuck and didn't make a peep 😅
I'm 30 and live with my wife and my parents, honestly the only difficulty is not having free reign over what the house is like but we all really get along and I don't think there's anything wrong with living with family as an adult, especially in today's economy where it feels impossible to get on the property ladder. :) So glad you were able to move to somewhere better that suits you and the cats more!
I lived in a place for almost 10 year with a landlord who just didn’t care about the property. It was horrible. I finally moved this past year and I can’t explain how much moving to a new place has improved my partner and I mental health. I hope the new place does the same for you!
I’m 26 and I still live with my parents. I’ve gotten a lot of judgement from family and friends for doing so, but I’m unable to work and so I don’t have any income to put toward living on my own. My parents are thankfully the best people in the world and I feel super safe and comfortable with them but my ultimate dream is to one day move states and live with my partners 😊 but right now thats pretty much a pipe dream lol
When I was in college I moved in with my grandmother and been living with her since and I'm 34. There is no shame in it. Having another person in the house eased my relatives mind, and especially currently now she is in need of a caregiver. Moving story though - back in August my parents and brother were moving from an apartment to a new house, my mother diligently packed as much as she could, and day of the move my brother went there with one of the dogs to help unpack the boxes from the trucks while I stayed behind with another dog at the apartment and help with any last minute packing. Come to find out my brother barely packed ANYTHING up in his room so I was scrambling to help pack up the 80% of what he left unpacked since we had to be out by the end of the day. We managed but oh boy wasn't everyone pissed by that situation on top of the general moving stress.
And now we know where Gav gets his cheeky and charming attitude from. It comes from his mama. 😊 Much love to Mama H. ❤ Your son is awesome and adorable. You've got her smile too, Gav. Many Blessings
I'm 29 and live together with my mom. I moved out during my university years, but moved back afterwards. I love living with her. She's my best friend and when I move it will be really close by, because I still want her as part of my everyday life. Also we share a dog, that will be living with me. She's retired, so she is taking care of our dog when I'm at work 😊 Without her I wouldn't with good conscious have been able to get my precious little rascal ❤🐶
I moved out of my Mom's house and into an apartment in my grandmother's house when l was 17. That way, l could have my own space, but be close enough to help out my grandma when she needed it. In 2020, when l was 29, l moved out fully on my own. I have been on my own since. Athough, now that l have a good job, the plan has always been for my Momma to move in with me once she retires. There should be no shame in living with your parents! Family is meant to support each other!
Hi Gavin! My parents paid my rent until I moved with my partner at 28, it is just the way life is. With what I earned I couldn’t support myself, I lived in a not so safe area, but it was near work and it was the cheapest I could find. So ignore people who say mean things. XOXO
I feel you on the family drama with moving. I had to BEG my brother and father to help me move last time I changed apartments, and they did nothing but yell at me & made it seem like I owed them the world because they finally bothered to lift a finger to help me. Mind you, I did ALL the smaller stuff by myself- it was only the larger furniture I needed their help on. Never again. No matter how much it costs, I am absolutely hiring movers next time instead of trying to rely on my family.
You should think about building a cattio, an enclosed patio out into your garden perhaps from a window. That way the cats can be outside whenever they want and be safe. Check online! ❤🇨🇦
I lived at home until I was 28! And some of my friends still live at home. It's common for mexican families to stay under the same roof. So, no shame, how lucky are we to have that support system. So stay at home as long as you want and leave when you want. It's all good. Also, I'm so excited to see you moving to a new place where you will flourish!
I'm 30 and still live with my parents despite also being engaged to my partner of 10 years. I'm mostly staying to help my parents with their bills (because they have been struggling and are close to finally paying off their mortgage). Aside from helping, it also allows me to save up to hopefully afford a down-payment for a place with my fiancé. No shame in having to live with family to make ends meet!
Aww I'm so glad you were able to make that middle grade book donation happen! I'm sure they'll mean a lot to the recipient hospitals. Also, I just wanted to say that I love how much you love your cats and the way you take time even when you're stressed and busy just to pet them for a bit. It's so sweet and wholesome. Always warms my heart. Hope you and the cats love your new home!
You should always go through the real estate for repairs and stuff, and email it to them, that way it’s in writing and there’s a record so that if the landlord ignores you or tries to pretend you never told them, you can show your emails
I'm 31 and starting a new job with my dad and will be moving in with him because it's a travel based job and it just makes more sense than trying to pay for rent on a place I won't ever be.
I'm so happy that you've been able to move out of that hosue!! I could never move back in with my parents, I'm always really jealous of people who have that sort of relationship with their family!
Congrats on moving (pretty) successfully! My biggest moving nightmare was in 2021. I live in Japan at the moment, and I was moving from Shizuoka Prefecture to Yokohama City, leaving one teaching company for another because my original company was taking SO LONG to place me even knowing I wouldn't be able to stay because I had to drive to the schools there, and my license was expiring in March. Long story short, I had a literal 2 weeks to find an apartment, go through the application process and be approved, pack, and officially move, because I had to get out of my other apartment by a certain date. And it was prime moving season, so finding a moving company who wasn't booked at that time was a nightmare.
Can't believe the drama they made you go through on your moving day, Gavin! Hoping to see more of your cosy home soon, and of course the first visit to your local library, and nearby cafés!
Love the new place Gav.. Where the garden is concerned..cats just jump up onto the fences no problem at all.. I've had cats and 6ft fences are no problem to fit cats.. Once they start exploring they will start to go further afield but usually come and go once they have lived there for a while.. Maybe you should take them out in the garden with cat leashes if you don't want them going further..but I reckon once they get used to it they will start to go further. They are already interested in the garden sitting at the window.. Good luck in your new home..✨✨❤❤
You should buy a catio for your cats. There's all kinds. I think they'd be able to climb that wooden fence pretty easily but a catio will allow them to be outside while keeping them safe and keeps your native wildlife safe from them. Also I don't know what the UK brands are but Advantage and Frontline for cats will prevent future flea infestations
At first I thought: O great a 52 Minute Vlog of Gavin and his moving journey - great love it! And then I realized that it's actually close to 2 hours and I freaked out and made some hot chocolate and got me few snacks and binged that whole video
Love this long form slice of life vlog. i am not upset about it. much like a wedding or vacation, a move never goes as planned. ironically, that is actually the only thing you can plan on
Yeah for the move, even if had a lot of stress. I totally get not wanting to move twice because I had to and it was not fun! Book boxes are really heavy, and they add up! Hope you love the time in the new place!
This video just spoke to me in sooo many ways :) I'm 30 and I live with my mom, Ive got a nice basement suite full of books and figures and over the last two years I helped move 2 sets of family members and when it came time for us to move I hired movers and got the biggest truck I could buy because no....just no. Never again!!!!!! Next time I'm seeing about hiring a company for the entire process from packing to unpacking!
Ugh I had a similar moving experience. I knew I wanted out of my last home almost immediately, but ended up staying there for 5 years (mostly because my rent never went up during the pandemic lol). I moved this Feburary and I was convinced my new landlord had ghosted me because I got my keys 2 days late. It was still a day before my lease officially started so it was fine, but stressful. I was convinced I got scammed. I hope you love your new house! The wallpaper in the living room is so pretty! I can't wait to see how cozy you make it!!
"It's our own idea of perfection we should aspire ourselves reaching for. Every other perfections are just subjective anyways. So if my perfection is being un-perfect I gladly embrace it because it's who I am and I like myself." Practically perfect in every way. 💜💖 That's what I'm trying to to live by these last few years, and I'm way over 40 finally having that epiphany for me.
I used to live on that street, also on the avenues in G/head, was never happier when I moved over the river. Hoping you and the babs adore the new place ❤ edit.... they mucked you about badly! My goodness I'd have been in the lettings office waving an axe 😂 ive even had that crap with guinea pigs, Granted they are free roamers but ffs, what a mess, glad all is well ❤
So happy to see you've finally moved into your new home! Must admit I was as nervous as you watching and waiting to see what would happen. So nice to see your mom and sister! Enjoy your time setting up and settling down! :) Barbara
Nooo! You totally haven’t been just complaining but GAH, you COULD. That’s so stressful, and having been through something similar (moving dates move last minute and a gap between apartments) TALKING does help. Glad it got better, but still that’s a lot and so unnerving
As someone who has moved 11 times in 12 years, it honestly never gets easier, you always end up with loads of crap to declutter and is hell everytime 😂😂 you did amazing packing so much so earlier!
I’m almost 42 and still live at home! It’s super expensive in my city to rent and or buy. So i say screw those people telling you you’re too old to live at home. 😡
That Maleficent look is a SLAY😍 I need to start decluttering my house asap now as my move’s creeping closer but it’s so daunting! This has motivated me to get a move on though😅
I lived with my parents until I was 25, moved out then back with them from 28-31 until I got engaged. We get along great and it made financial sense. Zero shame
Those vague emails are nuts, they've had more than enough time to get their side sorted out. They should be pushing the people on their end NOT yours. Makes me wonder if the person before you dropped out for a different reason.
I'm 30 and moving back home with my parents to save money after being on my own for many years. My rent has skyrocketed and they have a big house and we get along well so why not. Cost of living is outrageous right now and I'd rather pay my parents rent than a landlord until I can maybe buy a small place. Thanks for all you said about this being nothing to be ashamed of ❤
So happy for you and the boys Gavin. Wow you really dealt with a lot and your still same after all that. I wish you all the best in your new place and lots of happy days ahead of you. ☺💜😸🐾
It's lovely seeing you happy in your new home, I'm looking forward to seeing how you decorate and style everything! You should hit a few charity shops to pick up a few bits and bobs. So, here's wishing you the very best, and lots of happiness in your new home. 💕🏡🪴
I’m sure someone has already mentioned, but you can get the Lego instructions on their website! I hope you can repair them! Congrats on the new place! Moving is always a nightmare no matter what, but at least it’s over now and you can focus on your new HOME. Wishing the best for you and your adorable boys!
I'm so happy for you to be in a new place that you actually like! Looking forward to seeing how cozy it becomes as you unpack and settle in! As for the living with parents discussion, my two sisters and I are all in our 30s and we still live together with our mom. I don't have any shame in it and I much prefer living with family I like than running the risk of moving in with roommates I don't know or struggling to keep up in a place on my own. I honestly think that anyone shaming things like living situations need to get better hobbies because it's not like it has anything to do with them.
11pm the night before I was supposed to move I got an email saying “actually the apartment is not currently habitable, so you can’t move in”. Everything had already been packed up in a U-Haul ready to go. The next day they said “well you can move all your stuff in, but you can’t stay yet” “if you want to do that you will have a 2 hour time slot to move in everything you own”. Also, it was July 1st which is Canada Day, so no moving companies were open and there was crazy traffic. By the end my boyfriend and I had to live in my childhood bedroom for a week without the majority of our things. Then getting internet hooked up was a whole other issue lol.
It's too late now, but a great tip for clearing out your closest (whether moving or just purging) is having something handy to make a list. - well not too late, if you're still unpacking your stuff, you can see what you have & want you need to get. Getting rid of your Marilyn Monroe dress, but potentially want to replace it? Write that down! Throwing out all the holey underwear & holey/single socks? Add those to the list of things you need to buy. Finding out you don't fit in 8 out of 10 t-shirts? Jot down that you want to get 3-5 more shirts. Or you have 15 T-shirts but only 1 long sleeve & 3 sweaters? Make a note that you need more cold-weather outfits.
Ah, the moving chaos!!! My craziest move was when my sister and I bought our farm together. Fortunately I had the keys to the new place about 2 weeks before I had to be out of my place in town because my mom and I took literally 5 TRUCKLOADS of junk out of the farmhouse to the dump before we could move in.
Ahh I’m so glad you vlogged this whole moving process! What a stressful month you’ve had. I’m sorry so many things ended up going wrong or causing you extra stress during the move, but wow I’m so glad everything worked out!! The new place looks gorgeous, the kitchen is so much bigger too! I think this move is going to be so good for you and I can’t wait to see all the new memories you’ll make in this new place 🥹💖
I find it fascinating that, apparently in the UK (and the US as well, I think?), people all live in whole houses instead of flats, all by themselves (plus pets maybe)...in Germany, houses are soooo expensive and people only live there if they are in a relationship/have a family. If you are single, you rent a flat. Even many families rent flats.... By the way, I relate to your stress levels, I moved this March, while also working full time😫. But it was all worth it. I had lived in a 20 sqm flat for 11 years and now, finally at the age of 33 I moved to a 60 sqm flat. 😇 Now I live with a black cat named Mylo🐈⬛ I hope Ash and Tobu get used to the new place soon ❤
In my opinion it's a mindset of upkeeping a house singlehandedly. I really would like to have a place of my own (freestanding, not surrounded by direct inhouse-neighbours), but just the cleaning, the fees for everything, the responsibility of roadside duties etc. scare me a lot. And houses are more often bought as longtime homes (investments), not so much rented out in Germany. At least in my area there are no houses up for rent and I checked over the last couple of months.
We all deserve to be spoken to like you speak to your cats lol. What a saga this was! Hoping you’ve gotten to chill and recuperate since moving, because wow, what a ridiculous rollercoaster that was. So glad that the new place seems great so far! Your cats look like they’ve adjusted so quickly, too. My partner and I moved twice since 2022, and each time, our tuxedo cat was fine, she was just happy to be and to vibe with us. But our black cat? Poor thing was so stressed for weeks after each time, and would yowl at 3 am, yank on the bottom every door she could find. It was…a lot. Moving with cats, always an experience lol. I hope the new place is a wonderful fit for you and the boys! 💜
I hope you got approved for the cats! I’m so happy for you! So glad you are loving the home so far and just can’t wait to see more of the home and your new life in a bigger place!
Idk why people feel the need to have an imput on someone else's life like who gives a crap who you live with especially today because rent is crazy high and like you said not everyone is ready to leave home in some cultures it's normal to live with family happy that you got your own place
Aw Gaving, you will make such a lovely home for you, Ash & Tobu. I laughed when you talked about everyone falling out whilst moving, I can relate so much 🤣🤣
I’m 40 and live with my mom. I have a full time job but don’t make enough to live on my own in today’s economy. It has been just me and my mom since my parents divorced when I was 9. I'm 31 and I live with my mom. It's always been us two and this works the best for us. We split the bills and keep each other company. It's a win-win.
I'm 28, and live at home. I just really enjoy living with my family. I like cooking for them and I can't take the dogs if I move out. People try to shame me and it sucks. I am saving up. My brother moved out when he was 30 years old and it's why he could afford to buy his house! So good for him.
As a 26 year old still living at home this comment section feels like a warm hug 💜
Signs of a bad neighborhood, fights breaking out and random accordion players.
Gavin: *cries * “it’s time to say goodbye“ 😢
The music:” I SAW THE SIGNNNNN~“
lmaooo 😂
I love that Tobu likes to hang out with your passed kitties 🥺
My cat does the same 😍

I lived with my dad until he passed away in 2008 at age 85 1/2. Don't listen to anyone shaming you
i’m 24 and still live with my parents, this was so reassuring!

I also wanna add some cultures it’s normal to live with your parents in general. We have a multigenerational household and it’s awesome. ❤
Those shirts you could get made into a blanket since you have such good memories with them.
That's a wonderful idea, I love it!
Did that with my husband's old band shirts for his 40th. It's a great blanket!
Just like Bellas mom in twilight

The cats getting approved day of is insane 😅 and requesting passport after forgetting past IDs shared day of key exchange
@@Wndrlnd9 sounds like typical landlord behavior tbh 🙄 genuinely despise landowners
Am 32, live with my dad and my mum recently moved in. I get lots of cuddles every day and feel very loved
And now we know where Gav gets his cheeky and charming attitude from. It comes from his mama. 😊 Much love to Mama H. ❤ Your son is awesome and adorable. You've got her smile too, Gav. Many Blessings
‘First it was the ice berg, then it was the Hetheringtons’ I’m dead. Loved this vlog. Hope you and the boys are settling in well!
Nearly a 2hr vlog?!?!? YES PLEASE!!
WAKE UP EVERYBODY WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
I'm 31 and starting a new job with my dad and will be moving in with him because it's a travel based job and it just makes more sense than trying to pay for rent on a place I won't ever be.
That's called a Juliet balcony. Imagine the photo/video possibilities!! ☺️ Congrats on your new home, enjoy it. I'm also moving on Monday 8 July.
I’m behind on videos so it’s like having a season to catch up on. ☕️ BRING IT.
My cat drools when he purrs and is happy, too. I love to see it! 😻
Good luck in your new home..✨✨❤❤
calmly pouring the entire bottle of prosecco in the wine glass is SENDING ME
omfg your cat hanging out with your other cats⚱️😭💚
Enjoyed watching this while packing up my own library for my move later this month. Congrats on the new place!
That's what I'm trying to to live by these last few years, and I'm way over 40 finally having that epiphany for me.
So happy for you, Gavin! Hope you and the kitties get settled soon, and you can finally relax🏡
:) Barbara
Great vlog. So happy to have "met" your mom.
From this 36 year old... thanks for bringing Ace of Base back into my life 😂 what a throwback ❤
My favorite tshirts I turned into a blanket. So I could have my memories still but room in my dresser ☺️
17:20 you are so tall! and I love your memorial bit for your cats ❤❤
Sick in bed rn THIS IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING I NEED. Your vlogs are the most comforting >>>
That Maleficent look is a SLAY😍
I need to start decluttering my house asap now as my move’s creeping closer but it’s so daunting!
Thanks for all you said about this being nothing to be ashamed of ❤
That agency sounds like a nightmare to deal with. Glad you finally moved!
So happy for you and the boys Gavin. Wow you really dealt with a lot and your still same after all that. I wish you all the best in your new place and lots of happy days ahead of you. ☺💜😸🐾
I almost chocked laughing at your story about your dad storming off and when Tobu went missing, so glad it all worked out okay in the end
Holding out hope that Marilyn will be resurrected! Those cooking segments have me in absolute stitches every time i rewatch.
ÅH! (as we say in sweden) 😍 I am so envious of your new reading nook, I want one but we have no space for one. Looks so cosy!
Blimming estate agents/letting agencies! We had a similar issue, being messed about initially, and we got so peeved at them! Glad you are in!
A lot of people in the UK don’t live alone , most live with roommates or partners and a lot in flats.
this is so exciting gav!! im so happy for you & hope this does turn out to be the perfect home for you
We all deserve to be spoken to like you speak to your cats lol.
I laughed when you talked about everyone falling out whilst moving, I can relate so much 🤣🤣
Never been so excited for someone else to move! Also currently moving myself so this vid is just what I need!
It’s nice to find out more about you as a person Gavin 😊
Fast Car! I am living for the soundtrack of this feature film!
