That pool at 8:35 is a great wee stretch just climb over the bridge your on on your left n go down & if you wade just further up there’s a big bridge we’ll that stretch after the bridge is class not many people fish it Tight Lines ✌🏼💙🎣🏴Craig 👍🏼
I fished it at balerno a few years back with a mate, but he has all the stalking skills of a rutting buffalo, so we didnt catch anything. i might go up to the scout camp and llama farm in a few weeks and see whats what up that end.
Aye mate wade up from where you are at 14:00 till you come to the big overhead footpath bridge directly in front of you as you come out of the othe side o the bridge is a fantastic run there’s a high wall that runs down the left and gardens on the right there’s a wee ledge you can walk along right at the foot of the wall on the left it’s good if you don’t want to wade n spook the fish well get yourself up there there’s a few biggies to be had 💯👌🏼 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼 Craig 😉
I fished that pool on the way down to the graveyard, but the water was really low. I could see a lot of fish in it, but they could see and hear me coming a mile off. I will def try again after a few days of rain.
That pool you’re fishing at 10:00 well if you turn around & go down stream back under that wee road bridge you’ll end up seein a great long stretch of deep water that has some massive browns it’s just a bit overgrown & hard to cast but I’ve had some decent 2/3lb fish from that run what size of rod are you using? I use an 8ft 4 Wt it’s better earlier in the season when the banks aren’t towering with plantlife 🤷🏼♂️✌🏼💙🎣👍🏼🏴
I was looking at the pool just the other day, but its a bugger to fish. its either too high and overgrown, or too low and overgrown. I use a 7'6 4wt mainly, but Im going to go down to a 6ft 3wt for a while, to see if it helps on the narrow parts.
I’ve subbed anyway pal hope to get a chat with you or even catch up I call it my river as I don’t know anyone that’s fished it as long as me apart from a few old timers I met years ago I can show show you all the good spots in leith up to Cannonmills take it easy pal n Tight Lines 💙🎣 Craig 👍🏼🏴
I live by there and fish it several times a week. That second spot I usually fish it upstream with spiders. As for folk asking what is in there; if their dogs are in he water I usually tell them piranha’s😉
i told somebody that an electric eel had been seen in a river i was fishing. I dont think they 100% believed me, but they did get thier dog out of the water sharpish.
Aye, it has the feel of a stretch thats been that way for a long time. Whole stretches of the river feel like they havent seen a line for years, so Im def going to give it another try later in the season. There's a beast in there with my name all over it.
Aye dead bodies galore I saw one being pulled out up at Stockbridge years ago & sorry for bringing the mod down my wee Sister got murdered in Leith in May stabbed to death by a 16 year old wee laddie 🤬 she was 33 🤦🏼♂️ Craig 👍🏼💙🎣🏴
Very good 🤣🤣 offer still open for some flies if your interested. Mind you your crane fly pattern seems to be doing alright, strangely enough I saw a few on the Taw the other day not normally about until much later in the season?
@@chrismatthewsflyfishing7724 yeah, i saw one yesterday. a bit early, but everythings messed up now, so its only a matter of time until we see them in thier winter plumage. I would love some flies. i'll find a way of contacting you and we can sort something.

Good to see you fishing the WOL, used to fish it now and then up by Balerno when I was a kid! 😊😊

Very interesting place yo fish! I got to try here next time we visit Edinburgh! 👍
Do. Its a free water and passes through a dozen different habitats from its head to the tail, each one of them with its own set of challenges.

You did had a great day
best ive had on that river, at least in terms of getting fish to the net.
Wah, did you see
that naked guy just stood there in the stream at 2mins 40 seconds??
aye, he waits for me there. a while ago, somebody dressed him on a boa and sunglasses, but the miserable buggers of the council removed them.
Could you get down there in waist waders?
aye, the water isnt too deep for most of it, but a few places need a bit of climbing or sliding down the bank on your arse.
What fly were u using mate
i changed a few times, but i generally use three patterns. DLL, greenwells glory and a bluebottle green CDC emerger.
On my local river im not asked if there is fish. Invariably im TOLD there are no fish!! Oh well. There is!!
I get that sometimes, usually from auld duffers who scurry away when I catch one.
Ah,, its an age thing mate, I ve also had a leaky crotch recently 😂
I'll send you some of those tenaladies mate. sort you right out.

What are you using for fly in this weather
either a size 16 greenwells glory, or a size 12 daddy long legs.
