Genuinely curious how long the phone would last underwater with the popup camera out. Not too bothered about IP rating (that's why I have a OnePlus 6). Probably not a realistic scenario, but it is something to consider as/when/if phones go this route for selfie cameras in the future - can they waterproof the mechanism?
Your test does make me feel better if I decide to get the phone. How does the 90 Hertz refresh rate effect Android Auto compatibility? Does it make smoother, or does the Android Auto software have trouble keeping up? I'm looking forward to the Note 10 as well.
AlexOnail CJ He only published the water test first. I´m betting he already used-filmed the phone prior to this video in case anything happened to the phone.
That's one some people have been trying to explain but it's going through deaf ears. IP68 is certifying that the device will survive for 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5 meters (about 4 feet and 11 inches). A more suitable test would to throw it in a bucket at least 1 meter and see how long it lasts. That being said, for most people, if you're careful with your phone, the water resistant test done here is probably good enough. However, supposedly they chose not to certify to save costs. Clearly the costs aren't going to the consumers as the price for the regular OnePlus 7 (not Pro, as shown here), is going up again compared to 6T and the previous generations. I still want the phone though, lol. I guess I'm kind of contributing to the problem :D
@@senorzed6483 Take your phone hiking. Saw a great potential shot next to a lake, pond, river, and then accidentally drop your phone into it while you're taking it out. That's a real life situation. If it truly helps with reducing costs, why is the price of the phone continues to increase? I still remember a couple years ago when OnePlus phones were around 299 USD. The regular OnePlus 7 is roughly $626 with 6GB of RAM and 128 gigs. The 6T, with similar specs started around 550 USD when released.

No. This phone is not water resistant. At all. It's splash resistant and that's it. Could you update us on if the phone can put up with the aftermath? Because I'm sure as hell know that the phones camera is not protected. I just did my own test with my friends and the cameras are all cloudy with water drops on the lenses. I tried to see if it would work on the front camera and nope.. that didn't work either. I thankfully cleaned the back part due to how easy it is, but I'm not digging into the phone just to clean something which should've been protected.
Thanks for this vid bro it's very import, but anyways could u doi it with swimming pool water.?? I need to know if I can take some pics underwater. Thanks
No its not, just after a week of purchasing my op7 pro was exposed to few water drops and its diplay went off..so i had to buy new display because service center saod it doesn't get covered in warranty 😭😭😭
what happen if the sea water got into the motorize part? salt might be able to block the motor from running after the phone is dried. BTW, I am more concern on the dust resistance than the water as motor can be damaged by the small particles.
Nep Dastan well yes and no. The camera would work underwater but the touch screen would be activated all over. Touch screens work by having two points connected through the glass (capacitant touch) and these points are very small. When the points connect, the control board in the phone registers them and does the rest. So yes and no
Based off my first time watching I feel like the small amount of water came in on the top lens upon opening because it looked like it was to sides of the mechanism where water would carry along the rails... I think it'll still work in 2 weeks!

I like your videos, you have a great future ahead of you.
Plot twist : The OnePlus 7 Pro is a paid actor.
You mean the water is the paid actor 😏
Watched this twice , once under my other other account as you would recognise .
Love the mechanical sympathy you have Matthew 😀 ... I think as dad's with kids we get more sensitive the older we get .
Great video ..... And thankyou 😀😁😂🤣😃

I have one plus 3 . But i want to upgrade with this one plus 7
Yeah do it it's fully worth it,or even better upgrade to the 7 pro.
What are you waiting for
@@shaar2401 it's out of stock. I have to wait another 6 days for them to restock
Man i still remember i subbed u 2 years ago after u uploaded oneplus 6 water test.Time flies quickly..
It certainly does!!
Oneplus 6 came out one year ago, not two
Dave 2D test the One Plus 7 pop up motorized camera open while it is inside the glass of water in 16 minutes and survived.
That's not true lol. He literally just submerged it upside down while the front camera was opened for like few seconds. A real test would be submerging the phone while the front camera is open.
Thanks
On the One Plus 6 the point of failure for water resistance were the volume buttons as far as I remember.
I'd like to see what happens when the selfie camera is out, and then dropped in.
It will retract if it's dropped
It's go back
It'll definitely retract
See this review ua-cam.com/video/z8AdxtkkQDo/v-deo.html
@Matthew Moniz
That's good to know, it basically lasted for *36 minutes + 30 seconds*
30 seconds test... passed
1 minute test... passed
5 minute test... passed
30 minutes test... *PASSED*
Dont call your wife anymore, if you want to keep it.
Why did you add, an unnecessary comma.
No its not, just after a week of purchasing my op7 pro was exposed to few water drops and its diplay went off..so i had to buy new display because service center saod it doesn't get covered in warranty 😭😭😭
Who else got mi flagship killer 2.0 ad on this video
lol
Me
Noone
what happen if the sea water got into the motorize part? salt might be able to block the motor from running after the phone is dried. BTW, I am more concern on the dust resistance than the water as motor can be damaged by the small particles.
So.. Can we take selfie under water with oneplus 7 pro ? 💦🤳
Nep Dastan well yes and no. The camera would work underwater but the touch screen would be activated all over. Touch screens work by having two points connected through the glass (capacitant touch) and these points are very small. When the points connect, the control board in the phone registers them and does the rest. So yes and no
@@Julian-wp8sc I'm sure you can bind the volume button or something to take a picture, which theoretically should work, right?
Set a timer before going under?😃
Yeah you can, but you need to use the volume button to click it, I take hella underwater pictures on my note :)
Based off my first time watching I feel like the small amount of water came in on the top lens upon opening because it looked like it was to sides of the mechanism where water would carry along the rails... I think it'll still work in 2 weeks!
I subscribed so that I'll know whether it is working after a couple of weeks.
Amazing video as always
Thanks!
OK I haave one question
WHO WILL SIT ON THE IRON THRONE!!!!!!!!
Brandon fuckin stark
The shortest one obviously.

I don't know if you get a device on behalf of the company or if you buy one, but much love for y'all UA-camrs for doing this stuff for us. Thank you Matthew! ❤️👌🏻
You're very welcome!
I might consider one plus 7pro. ♥️
OnePlus 7Pro might consider you. ♥️
@2:44 😂🤣😂 LOL Earth Calling Brain 🤣😂🤣🙈
oh no, you little Billy
Only youtuber that I know of to do water tests for one plus. Great content thank you.
Try dave2D the dude was giving his review while the phone was in water.
It is funny looking at his anxious face.
who's wife says goodbye? lol
Does it still charge after, I had that problem b4. I accidentally dropped it in a puddle, then my phone never wanted to charge.
And my comment is not like resistant
Ok I'll just give you one. That's fine.
Hey Matthew! Please test the ASUS ZenFone 6's water resistant.. Please please please.. Would like to know if it's a OnePlus 7 Pro Challenger..
A "Poor" company doesn't want to spend money for a "paper" certificate.
You mean the poor company who is fucking every other Android manufacturers in terms UI since 4 years nd still no one provides updates as much as this company ...cool👌

Great way of reviewing 😎😎😎👍👍
Who actually drops their phone to the toilet? No, the right question is *how* 😅
You just jinxed yourself, fyi.
@@MarquesBland impossible. I have never dropped my phones, ever. I have never got them wet either. How could anyone even drop their phone to the toilet, I still don't know.
What if you immerse in water the phone with the front facing camera out? Is it still water resistant then?
Phone automatically shut the pop up camera detecting fall so don't worry about that to happen
Where did you get the wallpaper? Good test, don't want to try it with mine tho😂
A water test in a depth of 1-1.5 meters with the pop-up selfie camera open. That’s the test I want to see with all the hype of OP7Pro.
Well, the pop-up camera will retract when it's in free fall, so it won't be out anyway 🤷🏽♂️
Did anyone else see the Xiaomi advertisement before this video - They said, "Congratulations OnePlus, Flagship Killer 2.0 is coming."
This should be interesting.
I have the OnePlus 7 pro... But nothing beats the Huawei p20 pro IP rating. There was even a video on how amazing it was in a real IP test and even charges while being soaked. I won't try that with OnePlus 7 pro though.
What happens if you block the front camera when it's trying to open? What happens if you force it to close?
What happens if your front facing camera is on and the phone drops in the water
One plus has a function in which if drop ur phone It detects the fall and shuts its camera itself. It takes about 0.5 seconds.
Have you seen the Dave 2d underwater one plus 7 pro review? He reviewed the the phone while another one plus 7 was In the water for like 13 minutes I think.. or more, dont remember. And it went totally fine
I did it for 30mins
@@MatthewMoniz I don't get it. If it doesn't have an ip rating how did it survive so long..what is one plus hiding 🤔
please test it while the front camera is pop up
Hey matt, its the same wallpaper that you set in the Pixel 3a. I left a comment there too. Where can i get this?
Awesome! Thanks for doing this.
Apologies for the car crash of a comment section. Good video, subscribed.
These kind of videos are helpful whether to buy the device or not where some crappy reviewers simply explain the specs in their reviews.
Thanks!
No relevant water pressure, but it's good to know it can survive in water perfectly. Thanks for the vid.
Can you use the front facing camera for inside the pool selfies? 🤔
Can you try this same test on phones that have been used for like 6 months? I want to know how the water resistance of phones is, after some period of usage it.
Yayayayayayaaaaa great video matt🔥
Time is important, but pressure is more.
The bucket of water that you’ve used is too shallow. You need something deeper, with at least 1m water column.
I dunked my iPhone 8 under water for a second to demonstrate the “water resistance” and half the screen cut out later that day.
It depends on water pressure. Will not get damaged in such little water..
Hey Matthew I didn't get to greet you personally but it was super cool seeing you guys live and in person. I stole some pics.
Damn would of loved to meet you !! But thanks for dropping the comment. What do you think of the op7 pro ?
@@MatthewMoniz well I was 100% set on getting it this Friday but the reports about the battery life and the cameras are giving me something to think about. The price is sweet though. I believe both if those areas can be improved with software updates so I may go on with the decision and your demonstration at least gives me some idea that a few splashes or at most a few quick dunks in a pool won't just wipe out the device.
