Paul might be one of the best interviewers I've seen. He provides such a great opportunity for his guests to tell their stories, while keeping the show on track. Amazing guy, amazing interview.

I related to Gillian when she said that she was upset her mom changed the living room furniture when she was younger. I experienced the same thing was I was younger too. I remember I was about 7 and before then, we just had open space in the centre of the room, where it was surrounded by the sofas and the fireplace but then, there was a decision to add a rug and an oak coffee table in that empty space. I remember on the day of the change, I lay down on the newly placed rug, face down and just sobbed and sobbed…so my family, not detoured by my outburst, placed the table over me and just left me to cry under the table until I eventually crawled out. I was upset for a long time and then, suddenly, I just wasn’t.

I still love Conan though (and I am aware that sometimes he is a bit disinterested in the guest's work, for example the Demi Lovato interview) but I do agree Speakeasy is an awesome talk show. I am surprised no TV channel (network or cable) have picked this up.
Richard Kocksworthy same here. One local cable channel aired most parts of Conan's "season" 1 and 2. But they stopped airing episodes around the season 2 Thanksgiving week :( So I just watch it online too

Gillian was too good for Love. Paul Rust was just an annoying, unlikable "nice guy", and Apatow forced the show through all his usual cliches... but Gillian took an unhinged, cynical, irresponsible dirt bag of a character, and made her compelling and even sympathetic.
I see where you're coming from, but one thing to note is just how hilarious Paul Rust is a comedian. Have you ever listened to him on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast? He did an episode recently, with Gillian too (while they were promoting Love), and he always slays whenever he's on.The fact that such a loveable, hilarious guy can play a character you don't like is actually a credit to the writers, and to Paul. (Similarly, see the hilarious Steve Carell play a total hateable scumbag in The Way, Way Up). You're not really meant to like Gus as a character, similarly Mickey (Gillian) has major flaws too. The show never claims the characters are perfect, because they definitely aren't - but thank god the show does that, because none of us are perfect either; not even close. Throughout the series, I was sympathetic to Mickey, and then Gus, and then Mickey, and then Gus - back and forth, never settling on who I'm rooting for more (or whether I rooted for them as a couple).We can be invested in the show without needing to approve of the characters. I actually found it super enjoyable, and I don't think Apatow made Gus the typical "nice guy" because Gus really isn't a nice guy.This is just my two cents though, I think both the leads created wonderfully broken characters and I can't wait to see new episodes next February.
Love is a great show. The whole point is that both of the characters are assholes, and I don't think Paul Rust overplayed it. He was just annoying enough.
Honestly the most accurate criticism of that show I've read was "in real life there's no way a regular guy with no money that looks like that could get her," I tend to agree.
Arguably the role was too much for Paul Rust who doesn't have the acting experience or training of Gillian Jacobs. He still did ok but maybe another actor could've done better.

Conan is great. But not free to air in Australia. So the internet is the only place to get him here. I still watch Conan regularly.
