One of my favourite ways to enjoy romaine (called coz lettuce here) is cut in half, brush with oil, season with salt, herbs whatever... then char grill so the edges are a little charred but the inside still crunchy. I also like it with strawberries chillies and balsamic vinegar lol. Also fried tofu... oh wow look at that, it's lunch time already 😋😋😋💖
I grew some last year..and will certainly grow even more this year...!! I did not buy a lettuce for at least 3 months...I like to grow Arugula too...Arugula and Brie panini....yum..!
You are always right there with some great information and laid back presentation....very relaxing and enjoyable and HELPFUL!! Thank you as always....Jesus bless.
I got a 1/2 Dome 2 feet high , 3 feet wide from my neighbor in oct. I've been growing lettuce in it here on the Shore in CT. Slowly but it gets fyll sun when it's sunny.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms outdoors Jeff raised bed, summer here in Tasmania or meant to be so put shade cloth partially over top for the infrequent hot days as in full sun. Hi Jeff, it’s such a warming thought to be thinking of planting my spring lettuces. But here in zone 6b in SWMO US we’ve been watching temps in the teens and single digits. But, the end of February, to the first of March I’ll be planting my seeds indoors. Are last frost date here is April 14th. Good luck and God Bless, stay warm and safe.
I absolutely love growing Little Gem romaine lettuces. You can use them in sandwiches, on burgers (I use the baby leaves when I am thinning out the plantings) and the taste is salads is amazing. Never tried the buttercrunch, may give it a go once my seeds for Little Gems depletes a bit.
Thanks so much!! For seeding lettuce, go one seed if you're doing trays and you have the space....if you're cramped and need to maximize things, you can go multiple 3-5 seeds per hold to germinate more. They separate easy if you need them all, or just cut down the weaker ones after a week or so. 🙂
Thank you, I am in zone 8b out weather is in the 30’s can I plant my micro greens now? Today we are getting freezing rain but this is just a winter storm passing through but we are getting and have been getting abnormal rain, hoping micro greens are like Swiss chard who love plenty of rain
How do you regrow Romaine lettuce? I think that’s what it’s called. I got seeds... Does it flower at some point if you don’t harvest it like carrots? Or something? Sorry for the dumb questions, like I said I’m new and want to regrow what I can without buying seeds again
Not a dumb question at all! Lettuce will definitely sprout after a while...we call it bolting. After that, the leaves turn bitter, so you want to harvest it before then. For saving seeds, let a couple of heads take off and form. They give THOUSANDS of seeds.
