It's fun hearing about your experience as we used to live in Victoria and then moved to the UK. We were pleasantly surprised by the cheap mobile phones, not having to do our own taxes, better banking, etc etc. I guess there are pros and cons to each place. Although people in the UK are less likely to interact with you in public we did find that overall they seem to be more social. Glad you liked Canada!
I've always lived in Canada, and it totally is slow here in terms of time. It's so calm, quiet, and relaxing here in Canada. Also our coffee! I don't like coffee but I like Tim Hortons.
I totally agree. We are back in the uk now and everything is a rush to get things done, or working so much. Too many things to do crammed into hardly any time. If any of that makes sense haha. Much prefer the way of life in Canada.
OK I have lived in the Toronto area for 18 years. Toronto DOES NOT get a lot of snow in North American terms. It gets more than Vancouver yes but I think we have had 5 white Christmas' in 18 years. Last year we one small snow in December and then no more until mid January. Toronto's summers are insanely hot and humid. When I lived in BC I could not believe how cool summers were as compared to here in Southern Ontario. We also get a lot more sunny days than BC. If you want snow go to New Brunswick. You should be able to find a pay-as-you-go cell plan easily here. I used to have one 3 years ago.
Trent Hogan compared to England we haven't hardly had snow (that settled ) for years! I remember my stepbrother sending me photos last year I was so jealous. I want snow to come to me haha. I couldn't find a pay and go (with no strings) I've given up looking now. We just don't have data which isn't an issue.
Emma Louise Cellphone plans and Auto Insurance are very expensive here. Yes, it is strange that Toronto is as far South as Nice France (both 43 Latitude) yet still gets snow in the winter.
For those thinking of coming to Canada, do your research. We are a huge country with different weather patterns, different cost of living and differences with language ( i.e: Quebec). It's a lovely country and it offers many things depending on what you are looking for.
If you're working (at Starbucks?) in Canada, then your employer is already deducting taxes from your payroll and it is in your best interest to file your taxes since you'll probably get a refund. Additionally, unless you already looked into it in your home country (which sounds like you didn't) you'll still have to file taxes there too and declare your Canadian income -- although you can deduct taxes paid in Canada (if there is a tax treaty with your home country, which there probably is) It's easy to file Canadian taxes online as soon as you get a T4 slip from your employer.
We are British living in the uk and currently going brought the visa process to move to Canada, your videos are awesome! Iv been trying to find videos and blogs by British people who have moved there
Noel Doe we were only out there whilst my husband did his year abroad studying so we came back as he had to do his final year of uni back in the UK. Absolutely loved Canada though I certainly didn’t want to leave!
Im a brit, and my partners in Canada, so i have a Canadian sim for when im there. On pay as you go, I put on $50 and it keeps the number active for a year, you just need to find the right deal
I live in Toronto and we get tons of snow. But it is worth waiting for summer because in the summer is beautiful. Rn we are getting 25-30 degrees Celsius.
I've lived in Mississauga Ontario (which is 30 minutes from Toronto) for 23 years and I've never seen 30c in my life. The coldest I've seen it is -24c and that only once. Temperatures below -20c are very rare and usually only last a couple days. You must be talking windchill temperatures. Toronto gets less than average snow compared to cities like Boston, Halifax and Montreal, google it. Windsor Ontario is quite a bit farther South and gets much less snow and much milder winters than Toronto. Cheers.
Im from philippines and currently here in dubai and i'm really looking forward to go to canada maybe next year... And i think this video is very helpful for me... Keep it up...👍
I am moving to Canada in first week of December this year. I don't know how much this video will be of help as it's been a year now but I love the way you speak. You're cute 😘
Thanks for this video so much, I'm going to Uni in UBC next year and im happy that it seems alright. it was a bit irresponsible because I'd never been to Canada before deciding to go there for uni!
bring cash, it's an expensive pace to live and this no joke. It's lovely, there's a lot to do, its vibrant etc, but you will not live well here if you don't have secure $$
I live in Vancouver but have spent a buttload of time in Victoria. I could never actually move there but I will sort of forever miss something about it. Banking tip, you've surely seen coast capital savings, they have so many locations there, they offer completely free checking accounts with unlimited transactions. They even have an offer where they pay you to switch but idk what limitations are on that. You pay $5 refundable fee to join the credit union
I had the same problem transferring money when I first moved to the UK. The banks were trying to charge me £25 for an international transfer, so I started using PayPal. Their interest rates for the exchange sucks though and then I found Transferwise. I'll send you the link in your FB messenger ☺️
You definitely can get cheap pay as you go phone deals. Telus does it for as low as $10. Concentrated juice comes in frozen tins. Not exactly the same, but you can find it in the frozen aisle for cheap.
Hi Emma. If you want to watch Netflix and be able to watch it like you were from UK use the VPN services. For example Google Express VPN. I know that is additional cost, but you can use the full offer. For example here in Poland we don't have a single episode of Friends... but I found the way to watch it anyway :)
Victoria / Vancouver Island is spectacular in many ways. But be prepared because it is expensive to live there. I call it the "quality of life" surtax - especially as it pertains to the cost groceries. With that said, It is a very special part of the world to live and visit.
Is it really fair to say that the scarcity of and price of squash is a con when it's not something Canadians typically use? Would it be fair to give England a con because pure maple syrup is so expensive there?
Very good video but those money changing fees are an out dated ripoff.. just use any stable cryptocurrency of your choice and make two accounts and you’re done... no fees
Mel Colp, I don't use a pipe and am wide wake. Funny. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Nice beard. I like bearded dragons, too. Isn't Emma Bean adorable and she loves playing with her hair as she talks. She means well for Canada and generally when ppl come and make their home here, they give the best of themselves to us. There is just something really special about Canada and being a Canadian. I've meet very few unlikeable ppl from here or new here. We rub off on ppl. I love Canada and what we represent. I will stay true to us and you, Mel from Canada. Have a sweet day, every day. Sorrrrry.
This was pretty informative! Thinking about making the move over late next year but am still undecided and pretty scared about the decision to be honest! But nice video! :)
Try Koodo. I use them for phone use only, and no data plan as I have a business cell phone. I buy 500 Canada wide minutes for $25 a month, and whatever I don't use gets rolled over to the next month. It can take me a 2-3 months to use all that time, so it averages out to not a lot per month.
My friend her fiancé his job is asking him with better pay and chance for higher status in his carpenter company to move into Ontario from MI, his soon to be wife is a self employed Pet Sitter, House Cleaner-Gardener and when they get married soon that is hopefully praying an easy transition for the couple, they deserve to be happy and him better opportunity for them to start a family after getting situated. Anyone can offer opinions and thoughts much appreciative. Both have Associates degrees she has 3 in Arts/Photography/Design Media , while he has his additional trade certificate.
You can get a pay as you go phone in Canada from 7-11. It is 30 cents a minute though so you probably wouldn't save money unless it's your second phone and you don't use it much anyway.

I’m afraid that depends on you as a person! I’m quite outgoing so I made friends quite easily, I also worked in starbucks so social life is constant meeting new people and being on the go. Weather was great! All seasons. Hot in the summer cold in winter ☺️
As far as I know you're still going to have to do a tax return. Take your stuff to H&R Block - Or maybe give them a call first. I know they do USA/CAN returns. Cute vlogs - Thanks for sharing your adventure 🌍 New sub 🙂 PS: We are Friends fanatics too...In the process of doing our apartment like Monica's place! 😁
I live in southeast Alaska 5 miles from the border. I plan on walking over the mountain (it's more like a hill) I'll bring my own phone, and plan on staying in B. C. Same climate as Washington, and the lower panhandle. See you soon 😎😍
Any tips for I (a trans women) living in the USA who wants to move to Canada? I want to be close to the US border since my family lives in Missouri (I'm only 17 I turn 18 in 2 months July 24th) so should I get my passport rn? Get my visea? Or study Canadian history and get perm resident thingy?
Visit Canada for a few months & really get to know the place 1st & make your decision from there. If you enjoy City life I would suggest Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto are a few. There are many towns in the Countryside as well
I was wondering about jobs... can a uk teacher teach in Canada? If I take all my stuff, is the ship going around to BA or the stop somewhere on the west coast? How is the educational system?
Hey! Its pretty mild here through the year, we had a warm summer, and I've bought a coat out here, so i didnt really spend too much on clothes as i brought most from home :)
On the phone problem, 7-11's Speak Out lets you pay as you go. For me, $25 last months. Go to your local 7-11 and check it out. They'll sell you a SIMM card for $10. $25 buys 100 minutes of voice / much more in texts.
Angelina Rejametova you can get a pay as you go SIM card (or used to be able to anyway) and you only have to do your tax return if you are self employed. If you are employed it is done for you.
i am thinking about doing a working holiday in Canada. do you think it's easy to support yourself with the money you are making? that is my biggest concern. I have savings but I don't want to go broke. I would love to work in Canada and live of the money I make in Canada
yes this is accurate you can live comfortable for $3000 but really anything less then that it will not be fun life also there are big differences from one province to the next so get clear on what kind of weather. work , soical life , etc and life you really want and go from there i know i few great ashrams that you can stay for free in canada if its a holiday you want in anapolis valley in nova scotia there is a place to stay for free and with a car you are in very nice beautiful location for the summer but nothing is good in canada in the winter unless you love the cold and love to ski
Paul Henderson but how do you make a 3000 income. I don't really see that happen with the regular jobs you have in Canada. I don't even make that money in the Netherlands.
Everyone says Vancouver is super expensive!! Would you be able to survive with just a low level job like waitressing? And I so didn't know about the tax thing 😩
You're not really moving to Canada, you're traveling through it, why you write moving? Well you can always search it on thepiratebay.org or limetorrents.cc or 1337x.to or other torrent indexer, share it at 100% and then delete the torrent from your torrent client, it'd be the equivalent to watch it, stealing it? not really, you can delete it afterwards if it makes you feel better
Don't know if you will ever even read this Emma Bean, but there were some valid questions your 'fans' / subscribers asked that you never answered........
Now finding the time to reply to as many that I have the answers for ☺️ this was so long ago now a lot of Canadians have kindly commented and helped others with questions I don’t have the answer to 😊
Why have you got a cup in your hand? It's distracting as it looks like you are going to spill the drink. Enjoyed hearing your views as well as other people's

Lots of places get snow and cold in Canada try Yellowknife or Winnipeg.
pawel115 Oh hell yeah but it is not nearly as bad as most think. There are many places that have short and fairly mild winters.
Would you say Global Warming did effect it ?

The rocky mountains in Alberta are much closer than Alaska! Banff and Jasper are spectacular. Just sayin'. :)
michelle fuller also on the list! I'd love to go around them all 😊 then I did want to tour America.. we will see after tonight I guess!
michelle fuller view of mother nature
Banff and Jasper were two of the nicest places I visited while there
That Canadian Rockies are awesome. I am from outside of Edmonton, Alberta myself. I go from Alberta to BC every Summer.
This video was very helpful! We are hoping to move to Canada early next year! Liked and subscribed :)
Great thank you! Canada is lovely im sure you'll love it :)

Mac n Teens have you moved already?
Mac n Teens, why did you choose Canada.

Most other countries don't tax their expats while they are living in another country. The U.S. and Eritrea do. They are the only ones.
Yes, all smiles... everyone's nice...so contagious!
Wow! Thank you everyone so much! xx

What type of weather would I expect during the last week of October? I will be visiting Toronto and will love to know what to pack.
Some of my family is from Canada and they live near Toronto and the snow is crazy and it’s so cold but in the summer the weather is amazing

Is it really fair to say that the scarcity of and price of squash is a con when it's not something Canadians typically use? Would it be fair to give England a con because pure maple syrup is so expensive there?
I think so because I drink squash all the time so it would be something I would miss tbf 😊
She's talking from her standpoint so to them who grew up on it and drink it often then yea it's a con to them. Don't take it personally.
Not sure what her problem with the Ribena. It is a syrup concentrate. For me a bottle lasts a month. Peace

you're telling me you don't have to get a phone contract nor do your tax returns in the UK??

yes this is accurate you can live comfortable for $3000 but really anything less then that it will not be fun life also there are big differences from one province to the next so get clear on what kind of weather. work , soical life , etc and life you really want and go from there i know i few great ashrams that you can stay for free in canada if its a holiday you want in anapolis valley in nova scotia there is a place to stay for free and with a car you are in very nice beautiful location for the summer but nothing is good in canada in the winter unless you love the cold and love to ski
Paul Henderson but how do you make a 3000 income. I don't really see that happen with the regular jobs you have in Canada. I don't even make that money in the Netherlands.
Could you of still used your Vodafone contract? or do you have to use one of there phones? So is everyone an accountant then?
no tracphone or straight-phone in Canada?
Can’t wait to get out of London
can you download movies on torrent in Canada ?
Not legally. They made torrents illegal about 2-3 years ago. I haven't heard of anyone being charged though. Peace

I want to work and live in canada, somebody help im here in taiwan ,
You're not really moving to Canada, you're traveling through it, why you write moving?
Well you can always search it on thepiratebay.org or limetorrents.cc or 1337x.to or other torrent indexer, share it at 100% and then delete the torrent from your torrent client, it'd be the equivalent to watch it, stealing it? not really, you can delete it afterwards if it makes you feel better
Really u r so beautiful nd u r helping me to improve my listening skills 😆
Are pounds worth 1.66$ here in Canada?

No snow in Victoria? Ask people about 1996.
Don't know if you will ever even read this Emma Bean, but there were some valid questions your 'fans' / subscribers asked that you never answered........
Now finding the time to reply to as many that I have the answers for ☺️ this was so long ago now a lot of Canadians have kindly commented and helped others with questions I don’t have the answer to 😊
Just when I was settled onto toronto 😭 the struggle is real
Emma,where are you born?
Hey. What about life-work balance in Canada?
What about Spain?
Try your luck with Ribena in local Asian markets (e.g. T&T)
