All the wood we cut to clear our camp and for firewood was deadfall. As always - be sure to know your local rules and leave no trace! Keep those forests beautiful for the next visitors! 🌲
Just found your channel. We're Wisconsinites, too, living in Lake Geneva. Love your content. Keep them coming and my wife, two kids (10&11), and I will keep watching!
Thanks! It was a ton of fun and added a new element to the trip. We have some more winter riding planned up there right after Christmas so we’re excited about that too!
I'm hot tent camping right now. 15f⁰ outside. 45⁰ 8" above ground. About 70 head height. Burning pine wood. Wife was here for dinner but went home. Just me and my shepherd now.
@@TheNorthwoodsFamily One thing I need to change and add is the guy out my chimney. It's not windy, but if the wind does pick up I can potentially have a problem with my chimney. I'm using the kni-co Alaskan stove from Cabela's. It works very well. I have a magnet thermometer just below the damper. It gives a good indication what's going on inside
Hi guys. Merry Christmas!! Really enjoyed the video. i grew up in Wisconsin and i miss it so much. I'm a didabled vet now and cant get to the woods much. Thanks for taking me along!! Chuck M. ps ever here of random lake??
Merry Christmas to you too! Thanks for subscribing, thanks for your service and we’re glad you enjoyed the video! We know where Random Lake is. Kim grew up in Fond du Lac and as a kid I (Adrian) camped a lot in the Northern Kettle Moraine, and spent time up along the lakeshore Port Washington, Sheboygan, etc. That your old stomping grounds?
Thank you! Close! It is a 261 with a 16” bar. Super light can run it all day. Just love that saw. It handles about 70% of my firewood cutting. For the larger stuff I have a 462 usually with a 20” bar. That thing is incredible. Then my old 066 handles the really big stuff with a 28 or 36 in bar.
They are the Polaris canvas upper doors. You have to take the door panel off, drill three holes in each door (there are templates) and then bolt in some brackets, then put it back together. It took me probably a good four hours to get it all in and setup right. Installation isn’t technically challenging, it’s just kind of a pain - the holes I drilled just didn’t line up perfectly so the tops didn’t quite fit right and I had to go back and elongate the holes a little. After that, they are easy to take on and off except for the tiny rear side windows. I figure for the most part they’ll go on in winter and off in spring. They seal up alright. Kept us plenty warm. They seem well constructed. Overall they’re alright. Half the price of the full size doors so for what we need them to do - they’ll do the trick. We took some video during the install so I may do a short video on it though it won’t be a step by step.
Lol… no worries. I resisted it fiercely but honestly it works pretty slick and it’s easy to clean and maintain. It’s a Thetford Porta Potti 345. It makes things a lot easier for the wife and kids, so if it helps them have a more enjoyable time, it’s a win. That sounds really nice. Hard to beat that warm radiant heat from a fire on a cold day. I bet the doggo is loving that! 🐾

Yeah - in the couple times we’ve used this now, we definitely prefer to guy it out. Much more stable in the wind.

We learned a lot and the kiddos made some great memories ❤️ Thanks for the supportive comment

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the@@TheNorthwoodsFamily
Great job! Tree is awesome!!!
Thanks Drex! The trees we harvest with the forest permits are always a lot of work - but they somehow always end up being our favorites ❤️🌲❤️
Merry Christmas to you and your family. That was quite a mini adventure to pick out a tree.
Thanks Bruce! Same to you!!
That's a mighty fine looking Stihl you have there sir. What is that? A 362c with an 18" bar? I bet that rips!

Can you tell me about your upper doors. Were yo got them how they attach ETC.

First!
Yes! If you’re not first you’re last! 😆 🏁
What did you think? Ended up being a pretty crazy snowstorm!
my question may sound stupid but what is your set up for toilet ?

So you need a permit to cut a live tree in a state forest?
Yep! It’s $10.
