My first bike ,a 71 cl350 almost identical in orange with the black stripe, wish I would have had the ambition to overhaul her when she was wore out and leaking severely. Good memories.
Great Job! I just picked up a 1970 CD175 that hasn't run in about 25 years. I've been looking on line for a carb rebuild kit, but can't seem to find one in the US. Do you have a recommendation? This is the single carb model. I'll shouldn't need plugs and points as the bike only has 3,500 original miles on it. Anyway, thanks for the great video.
Nice work on a very entertaining video. Kinda disappointed you didn't trim the excess off that zip tie you used to retain the timing chain. I expected better from your channel : ) Seriously though, good job man!
It definitely added a few days to the rebuild. I think I took around 1500 photos! Turned the photos into videos using Photoshop. Then did all the editing in iMovie, which also took a long time.
I'm not entirely sure but probably either poor ignition timing or a lean mixture, or both. Why would one piston be lean and not the other, IDK. And if it was poor ignition then it would be for both cylinders, yet one failed and not both. Or did one just fail first? And the other was closely behind? IDK. But the exhaust pipe for the cylinder that broke is a little discolored so I think it was running too hot and lean. My guess is there was a vacuum leak.
This is awesome!!
What a shed load of work, very entertaining, appreciate you leaving your mistakes in so we can all learn from them.
That was so well done!
Great video. Have me a little Soup Classic Motoring Vibe
Fun video to watch! Glad you're still kicking. I was afraid the Nissan Leaf zapped the life out of you.
Love the video! Time laps was terriffic! Great looking bike! Well done!

How long did this take to film ?

So, what caused the hole in the piston?
