Great episode breakdown! At 12:03 Travis is mimicking someone drowning with that strange little dance! I think something caused the ice to melt, and the scientists were drowning, and only three were on top of the surface of the water when it refroze.
Really liked your disection of this episode. And your character deep dive was on point. I also agree, clearly they are going in a different direction this season and the constant comparisons to Season 1 is a little exhausting.
I didn't even know the episode had dropped yet, so you guys apparently beat HBOs marketing machine. Appreciate the quick turnaround, and can't wait for the next ep.
Great video! Idk why everyone's shouting "SUPERNATURAL!" and not thinking we've only seen these things from the perspective of an unreliable narrator. It's kind of a genre theme.
I thought it was a good analysis but when you made comment about Travis’ junk I knew it is superior to others indeed. Very excited about this season, more so that I was about the third.
A thing that stuck out to me was when navaro was waiting for the brother outside the mine there is a guy behide Annes brother who stops dead and looks scared that’s navaro is there. What’s up with that guy.
Yeah, any pilot will have its criticisms and imperfections. Aside from the setting, the cinematography has been on point and it’s had the humor that I think season 3 was short on. Lots of potential.
"Its not the first time we've seen the carcosa shaped image in true detective. Maybe it was more of an intentional weapon or maybe it was some kind of lab equipment." ... Uh what?
Ya'll are fucking great' I laughed my ass off' First time viewer' One thing I noticed no breakdown has brought up is when we get to the cop shop the phone operator is talking to someone in spanish that she cant understand' I am pretty sure thats sandwich tik tok dudes mom or someone that seen the live reel fuck some shit up'
@@winterhillwarriors LOL! Mine isn’t much better when it comes to talking. Probably it is just silliness, but you never know. That hat he was wearing is only common in one or two South American countries I think which is why I think maybe there might be something good in there. Mainly I just wondered because this about the tenth video breaking the episode down, and no one has mentioned it.
It’s a definitely a good call, I’m gonna send the scene to a friend and see what they say. Maybe what he said on the FaceTime call is an important detail for the case
Omfg you guys are really covering this woke dog 💩?? Wow this was so awful it's almost hilarious! Even Pizzolato wanted ppl to know his name isn't on this garbage anywhere!!
Female cast and creators "manning" the helm seems a little contrived and late to the party these days especially if the gender of said cast and creators is the core and main identity of what this show wants to be. Slow burn fires up with a long list of characters to examine alongside our two main protagonists. A racial trope is worked in very early and actually reinforces some negative stereotypes I was surprised to see leaned on by this cast. I do see wonderful potential in the story and enjoy the dynamic between the two main characters. It could go either way so we shall see but I can honestly say I'm pulling for the show and hope it can live up to its predecessors especially since the gender ideals are so firmly planted and established it's opening episode. An odd theme to hitch your success or failure too without a deeper richer quandary to provoke and invoke your audience.
I think their biggest challenge will be fleshing all of that out in five more episodes. Like you mentioned, there’s a lot of complexity and detail required to deliver on the mystery itself, building a unique identity, character building, and thematic aspects. The development process of this season was very unlike the first three (new writer, Covid, writer’s strike, etc etc) so it’s hard to know what’s around the corner. The skill of the writing will probably be what makes or breaks the season in the end. Excited to see where it all heads tonight.
@@Quaaludio Not excuses-- just proper context as to why this feels like a departure from previous seasons and is harder to track. The writing hasn't been perfect, but I don't think you can go into a season of television and fully evaluate how well it was written after episode 1.

Excellent interpretation haha makes much more sense.

Exactly. Everyone knows that Season 1 was a masterpiece. Viewers just gotta learn to judge Season 4 as its own thing

Appreciate that! Our goal is to get the video up by Thursday, wish we could get it up even faster but jobs are getting in the way
Man!!!! So hyped you just dropped this episode. Watched the new seasons episode the day it came out. I am so pumped!!!!!
Appreciate the support!
This was great! I much appreciate the work yall put into this, this was the first video of yalls i watched, and I look forward to seeing more!
Thanks for the support! We’ll be trying our best to get these deep dives out as soon as possible
Thanks for this great review and commentary. You spotted so many things I missed! Really looking forward to this series.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Please keep these coming. Amazing breakdowns.
Absolutely. We’ll try and get episode 3 on Wednesday
I thought it was a good analysis but when you made comment about Travis’ junk I knew it is superior to others indeed. Very excited about this season, more so that I was about the third.
That’s what we’re here for. And agreed this season looks more promising than 3 for sure

That’s a good call, I’m excited to see more of the mine workers in future episodes

The logo wasn't ripped off...it covered the tear in the coat.
You’re right good call
Great video but Arkansas (S3) definitely is the South and not the Midwest.
That’s fair. Just felt weird saying the northern south so we tried to differentiate. Love the username by the way
@@winterhillwarriors 🤣 Thanks! And like I said, great video. My first time coming across your channel and just subscribed!

How come no one in these videos ever says what the guy was saying in Spanish?
Cuz my Spanish is trash but if you know please enlighten us

I forgot who said it in an analysis video but I think the guy was addressing his relatives back home.
I loved Fiona in Killing Eve. She is great actress. So far, loving the show.
The spiral is part of native peoples belief, the guy hunting caribou most likely added them to the scientists
I like that theory

Sadly series 4 of True Detective is a failure

@@winterhillwarriors second episode really delivered on flashing characters out without any exposition dumps
Agreed, we’re working on our episode 2 deep dive right now and the character development was way better without being “in your face”
