Great Video! I’m obsessed with Night Country, and you guys are amazing. Can I share? Orange is the complimentary color (opposite on the color wheel) of blue. Blue is this season’s saturated color, like yellow was in season 1. It’s going to matter. The orange is in the intro. Maybe something to do with the supernatural? I’m sure they’re going to leave some of the supernatural happenings ambiguous, like Rust. And they should. It’s great. Some things are unexplainable. This season is about women, good and bad. I’ve cried a few times, and my husband is like what?? It might not resonate as much for fellas. I bet the men are all just a distraction. We already know one of our two hero’s shot a dude, and they’re covering it up. Women is rural isolated communities are a tough bunch. They can keep secrets and they can protect each other, because they have to.
nice whistling 😅 great review of the episode. i agree the show is doing a good job of toeing the line between supernatural and possible conventional explanations for everything. i think they will leave navarro's experiences open-ended the way rust's visions can be explained by his drug use but they still feel spiritual and real to him. like her visions may be family mental illness or head trauma but they still matter to the character herself
Danvers doesn't hate children and is too afraid after loosing 1 child, that her step-daughter may also die, either from being too trusting or being in a dangerous situation - like a protest. Her step-daughter looking like Annie K makes her believe she will end up like Annie K.
Not sure if it means anything, but if you look at the ice core tubes at 5:26 you can see that the top rack in front of Danvers' face goes from T-230 to T-240. So ice cores T-231 through T-239 are missing. I wonder if this means something was found in those cores.
Remember what Rose said about the dead communicating with you? To tell you something you need to know,or to take you with them. Hopefully, Navarro's mom only wants to tell her what her name is...
It was certainly a step up from the first two episodes. It’s weird because I heard a critique say the middle two episodes were kind of slow and would turn some off to the series.. 🤔Total opposite opinion thus far.
Yeah apparently the consensus was that episodes 3/4 were slower but more character development based, and then 5/6 has a big payoff. I did enjoy the character backgrounds in this episode and wish we could’ve gotten it earlier
Feels like a poorly structured filler episode which took a lot of time to tell very few things. Dialogue and plot development start becoming borderline cliché. They got very little time to wrap it up nicely and I don’t have tremendous expectations but hopefully it at least will be decent in the end. Oh, and Navarro flopping on ice like that was very realistic and thus unintentionally funny
It’s my biggest issue with the season. Keeping it at 6 episodes destroys any chance for deep dialogue. Idk who had that idea but an 8 episode season would’ve allowed for better storytelling
Where do you think this season ranks in comparison to the others so far? Seems like it's getting review bombed on ratings websites but I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit. Also wondering if season 3 is worth a watch - I've only seen Season 1 and this one.
To be honest, we think it’s solid. It isn’t perfect and it isn’t season 1, but that’s okay. Episode 3 didn’t hit the way we wanted it to, but there’s a path to a compelling resolution if they play their cards right. Waiting to see if there’s more mysticism or if there’s a hallucination component in the works. The setting is phenomenal, the cultural perspectives are intriguing, and the two leads are getting more compelling. Also enjoy the scumbag-ness of Hank and the prospect of a big conspiracy in the works.
i think this was written by the director . the first series was written by nic pizzolatto . series 1 was a gem . i think this series was made and they realised it was a one dimensional story and characters. maybe there was too much bad vibes and stuff , they might have realsed the cast is 80 % women . they decided to steal ideas from series 1 and introduced a few more male characters who dont serve the story much. they also added the character Rose and Travis to clearly connect the show to series 1. i think in places there a bits of scenes that dont serve a detective story . thats what it seems like to me anyway . i can just about concentrate on it :)
I think hank killed his wife and Pete knows that's y he said she left. I think Pete in coming attractions I think he's burying hank. I do believe Annie is the monster in Darwin pics she was a midwife. Idk could go so many ways
No I don’t. Episode 1/2 were decent but 3 and 4 have been rough. We’re still gonna cover the show till the end, but there are serious problems with this season and I truly think a college student could’ve written better dialogue. The jump scares are beyond corny and the character development sucks. I could go on and on but I’m just gonna get mad. When the season over we might do a post mortem of the show.

Great points right there. In the Godfather series, oranges are usually a sign of death and doom as well

I'm living for your reviews... keep it going my dudes 💯. . This show is awesome I've been obsessed
Thanks for the support, and we definitely will!

And We don’t even know if that really was a “protest” or something even more dangerous 😜🤭

That’s a great observation, also wonder who has those cores
Great review 👍 Intelligent and entertaining 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! Thx my Boston brothers! ❤from Dartmouth
Always! Thanks for watching
Remember what Rose said about the dead communicating with you? To tell you something you need to know,or to take you with them. Hopefully, Navarro's mom only wants to tell her what her name is...
Good points, yeah and it seems like Holden was trying to send a message to her as well
I've never handled ice skate blades so I'm not sure how realistic this is, but could they be the murder weapon and Hank is hiding them?
That’s not a bad call. Skate blades can be super sharp and definitely enough to do damage
Not the best whistling. We're going to find out he was really whistling La Bamba, but Danvers thought it was Twist & Shout and shot him lol.
I tried my best lmao
She threw the coffee in his face and he was like "Thank you, my face was frozen".
"Oh, thanks for reminding me that my coffee got cold"
Heck his coffee turned into water.😂
Whistling was top tier

The water of the birth bath was disgusting to look at and then the baby born into it couldn’t breathe. The poison is the key 😂the mine 😂
Yeah that water was straight up foul
what exactly do you think comes out of a vagina before/during/after childbirth? unicorn farts?

@@winterhillwarriors I think the budget decided how many episodes they can shoot.
Makes sense cuz HBO was a mess last year with new leadership. Shows like True Detective can never be less than 8 episodes

Season 3 is definitely worth the watch as well. Slow burn but very well written.

Susan tells Navarro that Annie k insisted on going to tsalal w her. Yet Navarro doesn’t even ask why? That’s bad writing. Anyone would ask why.
I thought the same thing, but I’m hoping that later on we learn that Annie wanted to go to Tsalal for a very specific reason
You dont actually think this is a good show, do you?
No I don’t. Episode 1/2 were decent but 3 and 4 have been rough.

@@winterhillwarriors thank you for your honesty! I've seen many other review channels doing recaps as if this show isnt a steaming pile. 😁👍🏻
Don’t worry we’re not gonna sugarcoat our feelings about the show. Just trying to stay away from giving our opinions during the episode deep dives
