Nothing could be more un-American than forcing religion onto others. If society chooses to believe, that's fine, but to have a state religion and/or religious tests to serve in government for example, goes against everything that this country was and has been about. The rise in Christian nationalism will fail. Whether it fails immediately or it takes a little time, it will never be accepted by the majority of Americans.

What Franklin missed was that there was a payment needed for our sins and that the only man who could pay for those sins was the perfect human, living a perfect life. And the only perfect life that was ever lived was that of Jesus Christ, who could do that because He was both God and man. And His resurrection was the proof of that.

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, Who was born of a virgin and died for our sins and, was buried, was raised from the Dead on the third day and ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right Hand of God, the Father according to the scriptures. Jesus will come again to judge the living and the dead. Jesus is The WAY, the Truth, and the Life. No one goes to the Father except through Him. Believe, repent and make Jesus Lord of your life.

At least Franklin's writing sounds honest and genuine, and as we all know, we in the 21st century cannot judge common language styles of the 18th century. Jesus said unto them, Even that which I have also spoken unto you from the beginning. I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you: howbeit he that sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these speak I unto the world. They perceived not that he spake to them of the Father. Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he , and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things."

Thanks for the interesting video. I have often wondered about Franklin and considered him kind of a believer from a distance - not willing to draw near to Jesus but preferring his own way; and the sins of his youth. This letter answers some questions.
I have never considered Franklin to be a Deist - no Deist could offer the call to prayer that he did at the constitutional convention. Despite the constant drumbeat, I do not think any of the founders were Deists in the classical, European sense. Some, Jefferson especially, had rather peculiar notions about Christian things and were influenced by deist thought, but they were also well acquainted with Christian teachings and many had studied with John Witherspoon who was a deeply Christian scholar.
Some - Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Adams among them - are hard to pin down, but others were outspoken believers and all seemed to have at least some sincere reliance on God in some vaguely Christian sense. Thomas Paine may be the exception but he was a late arrival to the colonies and just an essayist but not really one of the founders in any participative sense.

@@fazole I have not thought Franklin a genuine believer but, rather, one who knows about God and acknowledges Him as necessary and useful but resists following Jesus - one who wants to do things his own way. You will notice from the letter that his "faith" is never said to be in God's grace but in his own works. So "believer from a distance" is meant to say he never seems to come near and really know Jesus. A very sad condition.,

Franklin's views pretty much mirror Thomas Jefferson's both wrote similar letters to contemporaries. Both believed that the moral teachings of Jesus were the best ever produced while rejecting the divinity and miracles, both believed there was man made editing going on that put those things in there. Jefferson went so far as writing his version of the gospel minus the miracles. Both were deists as were Adams and Madison. Big stretch by the author of this video in trying to pull Franklin into the Christian camp. Most would reject someone of his beliefs as lost, yet those men produced the constitution, declaration of independence and the federalist papers. They kept us from living in a theocracy no doubt.

This information about Ben Franklin has been around for centuries. People keep bringing it out of context. You cannot judge him based on today's culture. The beliefs in his time were far different than ours. To him there was no division between science and spirituality, even how Yeshua was viewed as an important prophet not a savior of humanity. There is no evidence he had anything to do with those skeletons as he shared this house with a physcian and the house was used both prior and after he lived there.
if it hadn''t been for Franklin we would not have adopted the Constitution from the Iroquois nation.

LOL He was not 'neutral' in his beliefs but publicly - and more importantly privately - an 'enlightenment' Masonist (sic) in his preferred belief-system. Basically, an eclectic amalgam of all more or less non-conformist, gnostic, and anti-papist aspects of English (and French, later also German) moralism (including 'godless', 'deist' and 'theist' notions) presented together as a liberating 'religion' of social utility.
Otherwise known as .. the heresy of 'Americanism', once understood and condemned by Pope Leo XIII at Rome, though now the almost global form of 'belief' presented even by Catholics*. A go-along-to-get-along-together system of materialist and utilitarian situation ethics applicable to all - and also suitable for no particular religion, political party, or governed society (except one, necessarily self-excluded).
Thus the Christian Spiritualist and the Apostate Catholic can sit at the same ritual and political forum as the (shortened-) KJV-Only Presbyterian and My-Own-Little-Jesus Adventist, with the Liberal Reformed Come-All-Ye Rabbi and the pentecostal-baptism-only unitarian pastors of the Four-Square Non-Denominational Congregationalist Holiness denominations, Western Orthodox, Buddhist, and Animistic Atheist Community of Deism, etc, and all may continue believe whatever they please so long as they are a paid up team members.
Keep the Faith; tell the truth, shame the devil, and let the demons shriek.
    God bless. ;o)
    * I believe Cardinal Cupic gave an excellent witness to this type of universalist belief system - actually at work - in an address in Chicago not long ago.

Franklin has contributed a lot in science. His comments about the corrupt changes in christian churches and religions are also true and very enlightening. His message is a clear reminder to those who lies to the world in the name of God.

Was he studying anatomy? Studying cadavers is, of course, very helpful; but it was rather disapproved of. With Franklin's interest in science, I can believe that he would be involved. Also, I can well believe he would have kept the matter prudently secret.

Franklin wasn't alone in beliefs. The founders were clear that separation is the only way to succeed. A secular society is a happy society. Even tho people are free to worship, and many do, it is not required. Most fail to realize that separation of church and state is what protects our religious freedoms. As soon as one religion is inserted into government and laws, religious freedoms end for those who don't believe the same. America is a secular nation. That is why we are so great. We do not run the country by superstition or magical beings. Our laws and government are by man and must remain by man or our form of democracy will fall

    • @endtheglobalist
      @endtheglobalist Місяць тому +1

You should read the writing done by the founders to clarify the Constitution....many of the founders were masons, but there is no call for separation of church and state in the constitution. They knew the new nation would be based on Christianity. They even said that without a Christian basis this government could not be exist. They did not want any certain denomination to gain control of government, and that’s what the constitution addresses, NOT a separation...It would also make sense for all to research Freemasonry... as they as many others have abused Christianity for their own personal gain throughout history......without the Christian men who actually fought the war...there would have been NO American Revolution and NO America....that is indisputable!

Humility. The simple act of keeping oneself open to better ideas can have far reaching effect. Socrates’ student, Plato, wrote that the great philosopher searched the known world for a wise man, but that he could find none, so he thus convinced himself that he might be a wise man. Surely Franklin understood Socrates’ lesson, and he applied his openness & curiosity to various kinds of inquiry, bringing him success in journalism, science, international diplomacy, and parliamentary law - though I doubt he ever felt “filled” to such point as would quell his hunger for knowledge & understanding. Humility might also have made him a better Freemason, in which character he surely learned moral lessons independent of religious dogma. However, it is possible that it was Freemasonry that taught him humility - that is the first lesson upon initiation. Surely growing up Quaker prepared him well for the lesson of humility - from whatever source. Removing or suppressing the ego, leaving one empty & open, is a key to wisdom, charisma, learning, and diplomacy.
