Personnel, Formation, motion/shift, pass protection, route combo. That’s the sequence of most pass play calls.
makes sense to have stuff in an order.
it is ridiculous for a coach to call pass protection, or gap attack to begin with....thats a QBs job. Play calling is ridiculous in general, it resembles nomenclature of organic molecules...it is marginally psychotic.
Edelman is so fun to listen to and informative
He’s like bizzaro Bert
Bert has been reading the comment section. Can't believe he didn't interrupt Edelman.
Love to see the in-depth analysis! Helps as a high school football player
I can listen to nfl play calling breakdowns all day 😊
Hands down everyone’s favorite play is “Spider 2 Y Banana” 😂
we need more of this stuff breakdowns with the actual whiteboard
Exactly, and great point. I think most of us laymen need to visually see these wordy plays written down to soak it in. It’s a heck of a lot of info to juggle around in your mind, especially if you never played the game.
What’s even crazier is the qb is listening to the coach telling him the play through a radio in his helmet and now he has to repeat everything word for word to 10 other guys in a huddle. Not to mention if you’re on the road and the crowd noise is crazy
that's why QBs have arm bands...
@@nobytes2 some use it some don’t
A play call even at the NFL level isnt all that complicated if you play a skill position and know what to listen for. It's just code for each position/group saying who should be where and what to do. You basically are just listening for your position's "codename" and then the route and you will know where to line up and what to do. With that being said...this would be a NIGHTMARE for me if I was a QB and had to know ALL of that information over multiple formations, personnel groupings, and routes. Not to mention having to read the defense and make adjustments. NFL QB's, especially the great ones, are processing so much information so fast it blows my mind. Even the "bad" ones are better than 99.99% of QB's on the planet. It's crazy!
Longest bert has went without talking.
Bert: "yeah bro it's just like that". Meanwhile having no actual idea if it's like that
This is my favorite podcast since I first discovered the sleeveless punter/wrestler/smuck podcast a few years back
Thank the egg for the chicken
When Bert isn't trying to be funny or a bro, he actually seems like a pretty chill dude.
This is so true. I played on 4 teams, 6 OCs and play calling is completely insane 😂 and you have to learn about 250 diff plays and remember them all. As a WR, the good ones will learn 4 diff wr positions which means you have to learn the terminology of 1000 diff plays on average. I know they jocks are dumb but I've had engineer and doctor friends who can't do it lol
That was so some pretty cool information
I love getting a peek behind the curtain of NFL playbooks. So much more to the game than I feel like I understand.
Would love to see a video edit of this play potentially and it would be great if playcalls would be expanded on the show ij the future
I love how Edelman explained his satisfaction for creatively winning a route against a DB. I bet he could be a great WR coach.
Football is an amazing sport.
The comment at the end was classic. The NFL is all about percentages. Edelman just prove it. There are about 70 plays during a game you gotta score on 3 or plays and the game is over...
Love the coach sweatshirt!
The Screaming Eagles, 1993 national champions! I used to have that same shirt!
If Bert weren’t the host I would’ve watched this.
Dude is a clown
He's not. Edelman is the host. Bert was just a guest.
Edelman will coach soon enough
Fly left, sweep right. Bread & butter in high school
When you’re a QB and understand the lingo, it’s like having a cheat code 😉 😂
Whats crazy is how complicated they make it when they don’t have to. Some of the best offenses today utilize simple terminology
Merry Christmas Jules! Good fortune in 24!
Its not that complicated honestly
Great video
I see why they pay so much for a quarterback. You’re the man in plain terms
Bouncing around NFL teams must make is so hard to understand wtaf is going on.
Cameraman got the assignment
NFL plays sound tough but it’s just language you have to learn it and study it just like you would with school it’s not hard it’s time. Put them on flash cards ur golden
Bingo! Bert is just being his dumb self
I play QB for 5 man flag football. I just call out a number on the wrist band playbook and expect the defense to have no idea what we're running
Real football players know it’s really not hard. All your listening for is one part of that play the rest doesn’t matter to you so it’s really easy to understand. Unles ur the qb of course lmao then u have to know everything
Yeah a lot of people ask why do half the players just leave the huddle before the full play is called but everyone is just listening for their part of the play. QB is a hard job
Those calves are huge.
I want Edelman's shirt!!!!
The pats WR corps is so bad rn they NEED TO hire Jules to help Troy Brown coach the receivers😂
After all those hundreds of hours of practice and memorization, just to get 11 people to move perfectly in sync, now add the NFL's predetermined scripts on top of that.
People who think the NFL is fake have never played an organized game of football with any kind of formal team.
Why isn’t he wearing shoes?🤔
Why are his toenails painted?
Cuz he’s a drunk
He’s a lib
Diabetes
Because it's comfortable.
He "explained" it, yet i still have no idea whet any of it means 🤷🏿♂️🤣
Holy shit that was awesome
I usually just Ask Madden to figure out what play I want.
So is ti just me or does it seem like there were some plays that took longer to call than to actually run?
stain on that couch is questionable af 😂
Why have Bert on?
That's so complicated of a play call. I'd rather do algebra and I fucking hate math.
Is Edelman a first ballot hall of famer
I really needed this football play breakdown 3 months ago when I was writing my football romance 😭😭😭 I'm really about to go back into that manuscript kill me now
finish
Please break down biased officiating. That's why I hardly watch any more.
Where’s his kool aid 😳🤣
Lol, he thinks Bert has found a good joke. That's funnier than anything Bert has said.
Totally making fun of Brady 😂
Holy hell
Put socks on man
Bert is clueless.
So clueless. It's funny and/or sad.
Lol
Something I enjoy is that complicated
Every white man im America
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Blue toe nails?
I could never memorize the nfl plays
You would if you studied it everyday for years
Too bad, you're gonna have to. We need you out there.
It’s all sequential and has a logic to it. A typical pass play is broken down like this: personnel, motion/shift, Formation, Pass Protection, Route combo.
I already really dislike Bert a lot. Love Tom Segura but I just can't stand Bert. Then I check this out and he's not wearing shoes.... F*&k me I hate him so much haha
Cant think of 2 less authentic and attention needing bozos. And im a Pats fan
Bring back Sam. This guy is not funny at all and is clueless about life events. Love Edelman but this dude is boring
Its not that complicated Bert. Your big goofy ass has just never been in any kind of football huddle. We all know your story, picked last in dodgeball and used your insecurities to get laughs. Now Jules on the other hand, his story is fascinating, and truly remarkable. Im so honered that he was a lifelong patriot and that I got to watch his whole career start to finish. Please come help coach these young guys Jules... please 😭
And side note. I'd give anything just to have a day throwing the ball to Jules with my 10 year old son watching and learning and absorbing all of Jules knowledge. Those are things money can't buy.
Loser
You really think you’re pretty cool, eh? Literally nobody else does.
@@fakenamefakeaccount7174seriously. Like, I'm not a Bert fan really but you could tell reading the comment that this dude really had this one thought up for a week and thought he was delivering straight gas when in reality it just came off as lame, unfunny and forced.
Exactly!
The interviewer is either faking how impressed he is with this stuff or he's a numbskull. It's not that hard. You don't have to be in awe.
The only person that thinks Bert Kreischer is funny, is Bert Kreischer.
wild that something I enjoy soo much is soo complicated
that hit bro 🫥
