I switched from the Adobe workflow to Capture One + Affinity and it has improved my photos, allowed me to discover new techniques totally on my own, and cut my editing time down dramatically.
After 5 years with Adobe Lightroom I switched to Capture One (December 2020) and most definitely won't be switching back. I am 100% a Nikon user and the annual subscription for the Nikon only version of C1 is less than the combined 12 month subs for the Adobe Suite. I have been impressed by the panorama stitching facility in C1-22. I have compared it against the same files in Lightroom and found the C1 version to be quicker and either given identical or better results. I also like the customisable user interface in C1 which is so much more flexible than Camera RAW or Lightroom. I do very little HDR work but I have tried a few files in both LR and C1-22. Once I had learned hoe to get the best from the C1 version I got better results than I had in LR. All round C1 is the better solution. I agree with your comments that there are many more tutorials out there on LR than for C1, however, quantity doesn't mean quality and I have found the quality of the Capture One sessions on UA-cam to be superb, particularly those by Paul Reiffer and David Grover.
I switched to Capture One 3 years ago when I was shooting events. So much faster than lightroom, especially when you take 50k photos in a weekend. Even better for me since I ended up switching to fujifilm, and at the time lightrooms compatibility with fuji was awful. Haven't looked back since.
Hey thinking about buying C1 as a budding sports/events shooter, do you use photomechanic? Just curious if you can set up an autoscan/upload folder like with LR to improve workflow Cheers!
I think I was sold on Capture One the first day I used it lol. It's layers and mask tools for me make it so that I don't often feel the need to export my photos to Gimp/Photoshop afterwards. Also for anyone thinking about buying Capture One, they often have discounts. I think I bought my license at 40% off.
As a fujifilm shooter I also tried out Capture One for a year. I loved the Sessions options. How neatly everything was organized. I also loved that my 'recipes' would stay linked to my photos whereas in LR it would only give the option for the film simulation. That really took away a lot for me. I also like that if you still need to use PS for any reason, you can click to edit in PS as you would LR. Currently I still use both - LR for weddings.. C1 for everything else. But I am looking forward to being able to do all in C1.
I left adobe 3 years ago, switched to Davinci Resolve and C1. I dont regret it one bit. C1 was easier to learn and much smoother, also more control with color manipulation. The new magic brush is a game changer
One thing that was not mentionned : there is a free version of C1, of course stripped down, without most of the fancy options of Capture One, but this way you can try it, no charge. And, if you're like me (shooting Fuji so jpegs mostly and having to process only a few raws a month) you may not need more than this ! To be fair, the free version of Capture One is so different of the normal one that it feels like a different software... But it has its advantages as it is very easy to understand and work with.
Capture One 21 is stripped down, but I’ve been using it for professional and personal stuff for awhile now. I usually take files into Affinity Photo to do anything outside it’s scope
had been using cp1 express for a while then there was a massive discount, without 2nd thought i grabbed the cp1 pro. Awesome software, my only complain is that they don't have exp bracketing yet (although it'll come in the next version I believe)
Thanks for this video. I've been straddling Lightroom and C1 for almost 3 years, and while I prefer C1, I've been using Lightroom since v.2 (and Photoshop much longer) and have trouble letting go, even thought I probably should. One thing that annoys me is that the Adobe CC app sits in the background on your computer, and that Lightroom is a tremendous resource hog. You mentioned that you prefer Lightroom's implementation of presets, but the fact that C1 allows you to put a style on it's own layer (with opacity control) adds a lot more flexibility, IMO. And while C1 is certainly expensive initially (too expensive), after that you can just purchase the new version every year - IF you choose - and at a discount if you buy it early. But the one thing that keeps me using C1 most of all is that I like the look of my images better - I've done a lot of comparing, and I consistently see more detail/resolution in C1 RAW development, and it's not just sharpness or contrast - I cannot duplicate that look in Lightroom by moving sliders, changing profiles, or any other way. I'm convinced that C1 extracts more information from the RAW file (or does more with it) and it shows in the image.
Got out of the Adobe ecosystem a couple weeks ago! Lightroom to Capture One, Photoshop to Gimp, and Premier to DaVinci Resolve. Haven't tried Resolve yet but Capture One has been an absolute joy.
I made the move to C1 about a year ago and haven’t looked back. Having layers and the incredible flexibility with color editing without having to move into photoshop has been such a blessing. At first I definitely missed LR presets, but once I learned how to create and use styles, it really liberated me from the whole LR preset culture that surrounds LR and forced me to develop my own style. While I wish some plugins were/were better supported, I’ve found denoise to be the main one I used the most in workflows. I subsequently opted for DxO PureRaw as the start of my workflow so i generally cull > dxo pureraw for prime denoise + optical corrections > capture one to edit. Overall, I’m super happy with my decision, and I get the results I want which is all that really matters. Use the tool that works best in your hands.
@@bladerealm124 not that I’ve noticed. DxO PureRaw exports to DNG with the only difference being that its already done demosaic on the original raw. In terms of being able to process in C1, I’ve not observed any lost or compromised data from this workflow.
When I finally started shooting raw I tried LR/PS and was overwhelmed. It might be a great product but I didn't "get it". I tried C1 and was off & rolling quickly. Being a fairly new program I think the tutorials you find online for C1 are more useful. Look for help with LR and you are wading through a decade of cr*p before you find the video that actually helps you. C1 & their ambassadors put together some really great tutorials that are easy for newbies to follow. But then that's my .02 :-) Yes, C1 is more expensive but it works for me, they are always updating features and they listen to their user base.
Excellent video, very quickly to the point underlying the most important topics. A very important question for me: is Capture One able to organize and catalogue VIDEO files? This is an absolute deal breaker for me. As far as I understand the only one (apart LR) capable of it is ON1 Photo RAW. Is that correct?
So good 👏 Literally all the reasons why I switched to Capture One a year ago. The biggest reason for me was how FAST Capture One allowed me to "copy & paste" color corrections to other images. Lightroom lagged too much.
Hi: I purchased the C1Pro perpetual license version, but I also continue to use LR Classic. I reluctantly had to move over to LR when Apple discontinued Apple Aperture. C1 has a similar feel to Aperture and the user experience is much better particularly when you can customize the workspace. I am a Sony shooter but I have files from Canon, Nikon and Olympus so I need to cover all of my bases. I really enjoy being able to edit via layers within C1. My only negative is that based on my experience C1 doesn't seem to be able to handle large catalogues of images. I have over 250,000 images and I have heard that the max for C1 is around 25,000 before it can't handle them properly. Is that your experience? Overall, I like C1 and don't regret using it. Cheers, Keith
Did you look into 22 to see if your specific issues are resolved? We're about to take the leap to C1 from LRC, and any insight on the updates would be awesome. Thanks.
For my Work Lightroom has everything I need, I may pop over to Photoshop every now and then, but the Largest part is the 1TB of storage, my edits are all in the cloud, how easy it is to share the album, no other platforms needed, and now you can create multiple portfolios ..no to mention the client can like the photos they want the most, you can edit those and be even more efficient
I've been using capture one since 2015. I haven't used lightroom once. Although I think it's better to not do any sharpening in capture one because it adds a strange darkness and unattractive contrast, which does not happen if you change the sharpening and texture in camera raw.
Dude love your videos and tutorials!! Just recently discovered your channel and the production quality is amazing!! Checked out your gear list but had to ask, what lens do you like to use for your talking head shots? It’s super dope!!
I own Capture One 12 and used it for quite a while. There was a lot to like about it, but the downside to me was how it managed metadata. Keywording and descriptions are crucial to me, and there are too many things about their metadata panels that I didn't like. Great video though, I'm always looking to bail on Adobe.
I got the whole Adobe Suite on the last Black Friday and I am paying very cheap for everything, but I'm still looking for other options, specially since I am seeing where Lightroom and the other programs are getting in the way of my workflow. I may switch totally at the end of my year long plan at Adobe.
On pricing, I tried out C1 on a 30 day demo and at the end of that got a discount code for 30% off. Made it about £210 for a perpetual C1 Pro v23. I assume the same holds true for US and Canadian pricing, it makes the perpetual license about the same as a 1 year subscription.
Hello! I would like a software that allows me to: If I start with a World Map. I want to be able to select only the outlines that make up the continents (not draw them manually) and then cut it out and insert into a new sheet for further editing. Samsungs camera app has a feature that allows you to select people in photographs, cut them out and paste wherever you want. This is my minimal requirement. Maybe this kind of feature is standard in all editing softwares? Kind regards, Astrocyte
Thanks for your comparison. I'm a capture pro 21 user because I switched camera's during all the years so I have Canon, Fuji and Nikon files. So that leaves the Pro version as the only solution because I want to be able to open all of them. What I don't like is there upgrade strategy. They offered a 20% discount for an upgrade without telling exactly what to get. Yes, they would offer HDR and Panorama but if those features work as they should, we only know when the upgrade is there. Second, it's a bit disappointing that they don't offer focus stacking as well. That would be interesting for me as a (hobby) landscape shooter. Do you have experience with the combination Affinity Photo + Capture One to solve the missing HDR, Panorama and Focus stacking features?
So I got CaptureOne on sale for $190 for a full lifetime license and upgraded the lite one that came with my Fuji camera. RAF files and Lightroom aren't a good mix for me. The results are amazing, and integration with manufacturers is so good
If I was a professional, I'd probably go that way and I love the thought of switching but my time-lapse workflow is tied to Lightroom classic and the LR mobile apps are just to handy to give up. Being able to cull and do basic edits on my phone or tablet while on the couch is just to handy to give up.
@@Thai.H Not an apple fangirl by any means but in time I had to accept that Lightroom just runs WAY better on an iPad Pro than on any desktop (even mac)...the added portability and high end display is a big plus.
Main reason for me to switch from Lr to capture one is that capture one read CR3 type better than Lr. Capture 1 match the icc profile better than Lr in term of color, comtrast, detail
Can you print from Capture 1? For me, a print is the end goal. I like LRC for the ability to just stay in that app. I am not doing composites or heavy pixel editing.
I totally agree with you. Using C1 for 2 years now, very impressed with the software. Unfortunately they don't have a mobile version so I still have to use Lightroom on the mobile devices (phone, tablet).
Could you avoid the issue of camera compatibility if you converted all the raw files to dng first? Or do you need the pro version of c1 to work with dng files?
I don’t get the pricing of C1. In Germany the subscription is almost 3x the price of the Adobe Photo Suite. No issue for pro use but it’s a lot for amateur users.
Welcome on board, was editing with capture one whiles this video was recommended. Jumped ship years ago and don't miss lightroom, at least I have photoshop for a reason. 😜
As a C1 user I am not getting tired to complain that stitching, stacking and panorama features are missing since years. Since you mentioned workflow, LR has a tablet version which works pretty well and speeds-up your work when you are shooting not at home. And not to mention the 1TB cloud space if you choose the right Adobe bundle. All this makes Capture One in its current version over LR incredible more expensive.
No I believe that if you buy the permanent license, you just get that license and maybe 1 year of updates or something. I would definitely check their website for the answer to that.
I always find my way back to Photoshop and lightroom. Tried Capture one and ON plus etc but usually the features that lure you to one of those programs will get 'adopted' by photoshop a few updates later. If you don't really edit a lot in Photoshop, Capture one would probably the better option compared to Lightroom but then again it's more expensive. Personally I'll stick with Adobe.
I started with Capture One and I'm just switching to Lightroom+Photoshop. I really liked how editing goes in C1, however Lightroom already adopted some of it's features (like layers) and in Lightroom+Photoshop bundle have much, much more features. Also you can easily edit photos and RAW's on your phone without any additional price. All for half or even less the price of C1.
What about the history panel? I tried using C1E, but without a history panel, like in Lightroom, it is truly a PITA. How do I check differences between any adjustments?! Well, I don't.
as I moved my whole library (70k pictures) capture one have forgot all the masks on adjustment layer. So every bit of cloning and healing has to be done ones again... horror. do somebody have any idea how to rectify the problem?
I primarily shoot weddings and use a behringer x-touch mini in LR. Does Loupe Deck or any other hardware function in capture one or are there programs to adapt my XTouch to Capture One? That’s a huge thing keeping me from C1.
I use only Photoshop. I don't like Lightroom because of the libraries it creates itself. I would like to use my file folders in the same way as in Photoshop. Is it possible with Capture One?
Kind of. You can definitely use the browser to search the file system instead of importing everything to a catalogue. I generally use a “session” to work this way.
This was useful, thank you. Another positive for me is Adobe CC. 1tb of cloud storage and sync across devices. I know Photoshop for iPad is not great at the moment but the power of a digital asset management tool and RAW editor to use on an iPad is great. I use LR on iPad as a more ergonomic way of culling etc. Best wishes.
The biggest problem I have with switching between different editing tools is that none is able to read the edits from the other one. So if you have a big catalog and want to switch to a different tool then you cannot take over or convert your edits (only very few) to the new tools. So if you are going back to pictures you edited some time ago and want to modify some of your edits then it is not possible with a different tool. So if you used LR in 2020 and C1 in 2021 then you cannot re-edit your photos from 2020 because you are not having the subscription any longer. Instead you need to start from scratch in your new tool.
Capture1 + Affinity Photo - best combo for an awesome price... + no subscription based. I dont photograph anymore but i used this combo many years and would prefer this anytime again over PS / LR. Never had any performancd issues, the a7III Raw import goes quick and i can directly export the finish raw edit as png file into Affinity for final retouches
Good update, I’ve been using both for two months now, and parts of me want to go back to light room, mostly because lots to learn in Capture one, definitely a different way to think about your photography
A major thing I miss is from LR is the copy and paste. Just a simple Option C/V whereas I. CP1 it’s a huge ordeal. Also you cannot click and drag to highlight images. Instead you need to click on Every. Single. Image. That you want. Sure I could assign ratings in colour or stars. But this is a big one. Also it would be nice to not have the catalog only work from an internal drive. I had to get an M1 Mac Mini and I got it with everything juiced up. But the catalog must stay on that drive while the reference files are on externals. Until I can afford a Mac Pro like I had before with 6 internal HD this Mac Mini has a lot of drives hooked up to it and it’s a PITA.
I think you might be missing some things. Copy and paste are just shift+cmmd+c and shift+cmmd+v And you can click one photo and shift click the last photo you want selected I believe. It’s still not dragging a box around the ones you want selected but it’s pretty quick still. Also, I work with my catalogue on an external hard drive as well. Sooo… either I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying or all the issues you have in C1 aren’t actually issues haha. Let me know if I’ve got it mixed up!
Been using and enjoying Capture One going on four years now. The main reason for trying out and switching to Capture One was Lightroom "Crashing" secondly it was so slow! Capture One layers are excellent, the tools are better, the whole experience is better! I do miss Photoshop panaramas, its fantastic news Capture One 22 will have panaramas. Excellent video!
I'm going to have to revisit C1 once the pano and HDR tools come out. Those were big 'gotchas' for me. I loved the toolset otherwise. When I revisit C1 I will also have to get more comfortable with their catalog. That's probably the hardest thing to walk away from LR with.
Few months ago I decided to switch from LR to ON1 Photo RAW and I love the latter. Still I open-mindedly keep looking for other LR alternatives and have been trying Capture One for a while. I found it a bit cumbersome and non-intuitive compared to ON1 which also has layers and other kinds of goodies. How can you convince me to stick with CO (besides the obvious advice to get more experience along the way...)? Thanks.
Haha it’s all about the tools you need and what software works for you! I’m not gonna try to convince you… just give you my thoughts on what I use and let you decide for yourself! If ON1 works best for you, stick with it!
CPO does have a bit of a learning curve but there are a ton of videos that help to get you going. Once you get it going though, sweet! I do recommend ON1 too though. I haven't used it in awhile but I did like it when I used it.
Hi I’ve got a Canon T7, & PS elements 13. Which doesn’t recognise the version of Raw on my camera. Does Capture one work with the resent version Cheers
Very good video, thanks for the discussion! I personally use Capture One Subscription for Fuji since I own an X-T4. C1 definitely works better with Fuji cameras. I use Lightroom for all my other cameras. LR's new update for masking I think makes it slightly better than C1 at this point in time. Essentially, it gives layer capability to LR and I love the new sky and subject select tools. Whether I use C1 or LR, I usually take my better images into Photoshop where I fine tune them with Tony Kuyper's TK 8 panels. The TK Panels are fantastic tools for luminosity masking and much more. I couldn't recommend that more highly.
Lr and Ps are for different purposes. more complicated adj goes to Ps. some of the functions in ps are indeed a bit obsolete and need overhaul. for instance the h&s adj. adobe should add sat selection to it. select&adjust on a color wheel would be great
This is kind of a late comment, but here it goes. I agree with what you mentioned, I keep going back and forth between them. There is another major point you forgot about though. Adobe has an iPad version of both their softwares, but capture one does not (yet). This is a heavy weight criteria in my opinion, and once capture one releases their own, with some cloud backup, I might permanently switch.
What I like with capture one is he free express version for Sony. For me it works really well. Doesn’t have the really cool stuff featured in this video but still has the speed and great color of the paid version. For me the color of capture one is better than Lightroom and the express has all I need.
Hi, I use lightroom and capture one. The feature I miss the most in capure is, how to open a file in photoshop with a short cut. In lightroom it‘s comand e, and it just opens up. Does anybody know how to do this in capture. Could‘t find it anywhere.
I have actually been using Luminar AI and I just purchased Luminar Neo. I can quickly get great looking edits that way and can tweak them more when needed. Luminar Neo is supposed to add layers amongst other things so I am very excited to try that out. Plus I have the full adobe creative cloud through work for free.....so if need something in lightroom or photoshop I can do that, but I have mostly been sticking with Luminar. I do really like the Advanced color and skin tone features you have been showing in Capture One......Man I have been digging your edits lately with all these mountains and punchy colors.
Thank you for doing the video. Looked at migrating last year but found the learning curve to steep. Didn't find Cap1's tutorials very usury-friendly. Spent nearly a week trying to get sessions, and what you could do with that work flow not doable with catalogues/projects. Cheers!
I really want to make the switch over to Capture One but I am not ready to take that leap since they do not have iPad and android support which is where I do a lot of my culling and editing on the go.
bro have you encountered blurry preview or render of photos while editing? it just sharpens when you zoom in. I hope I can get words from you regarding this.
Switches 2 years ago to C1, because LR messed up my raw files from my Olympus camera. I work faster in C1 as well, plus I use the Sessions workflow and it makes a ton of difference to me.
One other thing I think is worth mentioning, is that there is no mobile version of Capture One like there is for Lightroom. I personally like being able to edit across multiple devices (sitting at an airport to finish an edit etc.) so hopefully we'll see that sometime in the future too!
Great point! And great response haha this is the lightroom/C1 battle right now… they go back and forth. Apparently lightroom is adding object selection and layers soon, and C1 is adding hdr, panorama and an iPad app. It’s all back and forth lol
Being using C1 since version 7 or 8 I think, I love it and I agree on the pro's and con's for this, but if you are shooting tether LR is no option for Sony C1 outperform this on every system. Good video.
I abandoned Lightroom in 2018 and still uses Captureone pro. Still capture one pro is missing import photo as a new layer(even ACDsee has this feature, to abandon Photoshop.
AI masking is pretty impressive. C1 has something that I can do similar things but it’s not as automatic. I still like the speed and the tools of C1 better though.
Capture One has had "super resolution" since C1 3 it is in the output panel, all you have to do is double the pixels and C1 interpolates the image. I have been doing this since 2007 on my first 22mp digital back and now on my 50mp digital back (no need to upgrade to a 100mp back), as long as you double pixels it creates a beautiful images.
Interesting... i personally don't like the subscription method cause in the end u pay more than just buying it out right. But I guess its a good option to have for the people who can't just flat out buy it. Also Capture one looks very interesting, will have to check it out
Yeah it’s tough because if you plan to get the new version every year, you will actually pay less if you go with the subscription. If you skip every other year, you’ll pay less with the perpetual license. I like updating all the time so subscription makes sense for me. But everyone’s needs are different.
Of course. Why do you think they went to a subscription model? They're going to make way more money off of people charging them a smaller fee for their ENTIRE LIVES than a larger one time fee. There is more profit in renting something to you in perpetuity than letting you own it. I denounced the transition from the beginning (given the obvious purpose). Frankly, everyone that uses Adobe should be livid. Their business model is abject garbage. I purchased a license for Lightroom years ago. Back before it was subscription based. I can no longer download it. As in, they no longer provide it on their website. So basically they sold me something and just took it back. I was content to just keep using the version I bought. There's nothing in the new versions I need. And that's precisely why they do what they do. To extort you. And more and more companies are transitioning to this business model. Apple, for example, is trying to basically ban third party repairs of their products. They don't want you to own, not only the software, but the hardware. And it's amazing how few seem to even notice much less care. Adobe desperately needs competition.
I made the switch 4 years ago. As well as the reasons you mentioned the fact that the UI is fully customisable is a huge advantage. The tools and where they are located determined by me rather than Adobe 😀 Unfortunately, we have to spend a long time in our photo editors UI. Styles are pretty flexible, they can be added, applied to layers etc, I don't see a big downside compared to LR. Style brushes give convenient quick access to eg dodging, burning etc or whatever you want if you create your own. Whilst the Magic Brush makes selections really easy and fast. Using the Magic Brush to select the colours in the original image makes working on a B&W really intuitive. So C1 for me, the increase in cost is worth it.
I’m just popping in to touch on how legendary that thumbnail is

@@Ingemann. lol good point. I just saw mike dean buy four maxed out 16 inch M1 max macs
But then that's my .02 :-)
Yes, C1 is more expensive but it works for me, they are always updating features and they listen to their user base.
I never have done this, but I have seen video files pop up in my import dialogue so I think maybe you can.
So good 👏 Literally all the reasons why I switched to Capture One a year ago. The biggest reason for me was how FAST Capture One allowed me to "copy & paste" color corrections to other images. Lightroom lagged too much.
Love capture one but now with LR having the amazing masking tools, it’s a bit tempting to go back?!
Pretty much my experience; that crappy move by Apple turned me from fanboy to just another user.
Actually making the switch to Capture One and Davinci Resolve. Everything you mentioned about the software is so on point!!!
I change around a bit here and there but generally lately it’s been either the 16-35 GM or the 35mm f1.8
@@dunnadidit thank you!!!
Hello!
I would like a software that allows me to:
If I start with a World Map.
Kind regards,
Astrocyte
I'm pretty sure Capture One will be releasing a mobile or iPad version pretty soon.
Yup! Supposed to be coming with capture one 22 I believe!
@@ronaldojoe3011 if it's on Android I'll switch if it's iPad/apple only then I'm staying Lightroom
I've used both, and I've found LR quicker in editing multiple photos. Most commands only needing one key press.
It’s coming!! With capture one 22 they’re supposed to have an iPad ap at least
@@dunnadidit I hope so 🤩
Could you avoid the issue of camera compatibility if you converted all the raw files to dng first? Or do you need the pro version of c1 to work with dng files?
I don’t get the pricing of C1. In Germany the subscription is almost 3x the price of the Adobe Photo Suite. No issue for pro use but it’s a lot for amateur users.
Welcome on board, was editing with capture one whiles this video was recommended. Jumped ship years ago and don't miss lightroom, at least I have photoshop for a reason. 😜
Can you import a Lightroom catalog into Capture One? If so, does every file structure and edits translate to Capture One without a problem?
Just out of curiosity, have you tried ON1 Photo RAW and if so, what were your thoughts about it?
I haven’t yet!
Yup! I hear you, I can’t wait for December for the hdr and panorama stitching to come to C1. And the iPad app too!
B&H currently has a deal on C1 Pro, $120 off the full version (US$179) and you get v22 when it comes out. Pretty good deal.
Dunna so good to see you, and thanks for the comparison!
Do you recommend capture one for a beginner or should I start with Lightroom?
I'm so much in doubt if i remain in Lr or switch to C1 or even On1. If i buy permanently C1Pro do i get forever updates?
You convinced me to try out Capture One with the skin tone feature.
I'm gonna be testing Capture One to see if it provides with enough new features to make it my standard software for developing photos.
Capture one has a tool similar to the Photoshop spot healing brush. I s Capture one’s tool still limited to 100 spots?
Capture One! never heard before this editing software since I watched your video. Great sharing it and Love the Capture One.
@@dunnadidit Ok. Thank you :)
Affinity Photo on the iPad Pro leaves Ps in the dust...I agree on LR though, runs like butter on the iPad.
Soon: C1 on M1 iPad…
The biggest problem I have with switching between different editing tools is that none is able to read the edits from the other one. So if you have a big catalog and want to switch to a different tool then you cannot take over or convert your edits (only very few) to the new tools. So if you are going back to pictures you edited some time ago and want to modify some of your edits then it is not possible with a different tool. So if you used LR in 2020 and C1 in 2021 then you cannot re-edit your photos from 2020 because you are not having the subscription any longer. Instead you need to start from scratch in your new tool.
Great point
Capture1 + Affinity Photo - best combo for an awesome price... + no subscription based. I dont photograph anymore but i used this combo many years and would prefer this anytime again over PS / LR. Never had any performancd issues, the a7III Raw import goes quick and i can directly export the finish raw edit as png file into Affinity for final retouches
Nice!
I am using the same combo from last 2 years, and prefer it over Adobe combo. All without subscription.
oooooo im going to have to try this
What do you think about Capture One ProStandard color profiles?
Copy and paste are just shift+cmmd+c and shift+cmmd+v
And you can click one photo and shift click the last photo you want selected I believe.
Hi
I’ve got a Canon T7, & PS elements 13. Which doesn’t recognise the version of Raw on my camera.
Does Capture one work with the resent version
Cheers
I can't decide between lighroom mobile, not classic, photolab 6, neo, and capture one
I find using Capture One faster and better than Lightroom. My Nikon files always look great in Capture One.
I don’t know about cloud backup, but you’ll be seeing a C1 iPad app very soon!
What I like with capture one is he free express version for Sony. For me it works really well. Doesn’t have the really cool stuff featured in this video but still has the speed and great color of the paid version. For me the color of capture one is better than Lightroom and the express has all I need.
THX a lot - hope that capture one will get new features asap
You don't get updates with Capture One one time purchase?!
So, do you still recommend Capture One or Lightroom Classic?
i switched to C1 2 years ago, apart from panos i don't miss anything... can't wait for capture one 2022 to bring this on
Hi, I use lightroom and capture one. The feature I miss the most in capure is, how to open a file in photoshop with a short cut. In lightroom it‘s comand e, and it just opens up. Does anybody know how to do this in capture. Could‘t find it anywhere.
Are you able to use the same license on both Mac and PC? Or is the license only for one operating system?
I have actually been using Luminar AI and I just purchased Luminar Neo. I can quickly get great looking edits that way and can tweak them more when needed. Luminar Neo is supposed to add layers amongst other things so I am very excited to try that out. Plus I have the full adobe creative cloud through work for free.....so if need something in lightroom or photoshop I can do that, but I have mostly been sticking with Luminar. I do really like the Advanced color and skin tone features you have been showing in Capture One......Man I have been digging your edits lately with all these mountains and punchy colors.
Nice! Thanks for the kind words dude! I’ve been kind of “re-establishing” my style a bit.
Man. You're Really Doing Some Thing Here Keep it up pro 💙
Thanks!!
Switches 2 years ago to C1, because LR messed up my raw files from my Olympus camera.
I work faster in C1 as well, plus I use the Sessions workflow and it makes a ton of difference to me.
Just started playing with capture one, so far really liking it.
I switched from Lightroom too, but I still use 1tb of my creative cloud for my backups and my mobile photography
Just wondered if you’ve tried Affinity?
I have not.
One other thing I think is worth mentioning, is that there is no mobile version of Capture One like there is for Lightroom. I personally like being able to edit across multiple devices (sitting at an airport to finish an edit etc.) so hopefully we'll see that sometime in the future too!
They announced a full Ipad version is coming. Not sure about mobile app.
Great point! And great response haha this is the lightroom/C1 battle right now… they go back and forth. Apparently lightroom is adding object selection and layers soon, and C1 is adding hdr, panorama and an iPad app. It’s all back and forth lol
@@dunnadidit Facts. Good to see competition in the space finally though!
What I like about styles is that u can aplie it on a layer and adjust the opacity. Styles vs Presets
In LR and Darktable there is automatic perspective correction.
There is in C1 as well.
@@dunnadidit is the auto align function?
Being using C1 since version 7 or 8 I think, I love it and I agree on the pro's and con's for this, but if you are shooting tether LR is no option for Sony C1 outperform this on every system. Good video.
I abandoned Lightroom in 2018 and still uses Captureone pro.
Still capture one pro is missing import photo as a new layer(even ACDsee has this feature, to abandon Photoshop.
Loved this. I'm a recent convert to C1. Love to hear what you think of the new masking tools in the recent Lightroom update. It looks so cool.
Do all these reasons still stand now that LR has its AI masking? I’m really torn between the two
AI masking is pretty impressive. C1 has something that I can do similar things but it’s not as automatic. I still like the speed and the tools of C1 better though.
@@dunnadidit agree! But would love the AI masking in C1!!!! That would be perfect!
Totally! Would be a cool addition!
Nice video thanks! But I have another question, how do you get rid of the sweating while shooting a video 😅😅 That's my biggest issue at the moment :D
lol I just keep a handkerchief near by to wipe it away between takes
@@dunnadidit Figured so, no magical solution :) The worst part is, the moment I notice the sweating I get more sweaty - faster :)
@ unfortunately no haha.
Just started using Capture One. Really like it. The UI is nice and simple and so far it's really intuitive. So glad I ditched Adobe.
Nice!
Adobe desperately needs competition.
excellent video buddy. Cheers, greetings from the UK
I'll give it try .. cheers
I have Nik collection software, is it compatible with C1?
