As an IS-4 owner I don’t recommend them as a commuter vehicle. They are however, really wonderful for taking the family camping or taking the boys on a weekend assault on heavily fortified positions in China/Mongolia.
Our glorious gnome overlord! I see you are expanding your glorious reign, and as always, I wish you the very best in your efforts for expanding the most pleasant salt mines. I shall go return to my next 48-hour shift post haste. I thank you for the opportunity to work so fervently for your most grand gnome-ishness.
Sadly it gets overshadowed by the IS-3 and later the IS-7 in modern media and were it not for video games most people wouldn't even know about the IS-4 or IS-6.
Fantastic.... please get Jingles on board to read more of your videos....for me as a non-native english speaker its so much easier to follow the information you guys give us in your videos.
Love the detailed history and development of the IS-4. It’s one of favorite and reliable heavy tanks in both WoT and WT. Despite not being as reliable in real life due to transmission and engine failures.
It would be frustrating to play both games with reliability stats, to be fair. I am okay with everybody's transmissions being assumed good for sake of smoothness lol
The development of the improved 122 mm gun was discontinued in 1945 with the decision to switch to 130 mm as the standard heavy tank caliber in light of potential super-heavy opponents like Maus. Both IS-3 and IS-4 were intended to be stopgap measures until the adoption of a heavier, even better armored, and a 130 mm gun armed vehicle. The primary contender for this role was the object 260, better known as IS-7, which also went through several iterations. However, in 1949, in light of post-war developments (such as lack of super-heavy tanks on the Western side) and issues with IS-4 in service, it was decided that the upper weight limit on the heavy tanks should be 50 metric tons, which automatically meant that IS-7 would not go into production. The focus was shifted to prioritizing production and reliability concerns, with the work resuming on the object 730 (originally IS-5, then redesignated to IS-8, and finally adopted into service as T-10), which was to incorporate some of the features and lessons learned from IS-3, IS-4, and IS-7 programs. However, object 730 was not able to mount the 130 mm gun, which meant that the development of the new 122 mm gun would need to restart as well, albeit at an improved technical level. This finally led to the adoption of the new M-62 122 mm tank gun, but only by the time of the T-10M version.
The IS-4 is my favourite Soviet heavy tank despite its flaws. I didn't know there were 3 on display, I thought the Kubinka specimen was the only example.
If you continue with this colab, give him some freedom to be himself and improvise. Jingles has a great voice, but even greater personality. If he is only reading, we are getting only half of his talent.
Wow the mighty Jingles the guy that got me into WOT(10,000 dollars later). I still play it today a bit I prefer Warthunder as it doesn't have the huge amount of fake or blueprint tanks as WOT and is more historically correct. Well sort of anyway awsome vid Mr Jingles ya world of warship scrublord one thing to note is Stalin had a hard on for the IS series of tanks since it bared his name. The Soviet Generals hated some of these heavy tanks and when Starlin died in 1953 the last itteration of the IS series tank was renamed T10. I'm suprised that with all the itterations of the IS4 are not in the game of WOT instead of tanks like the Chinese ones with rockets coming out of thier ass. Awsome Mr Jingles and I hope you do some more Tank Encyclopedia vids. The place to come for true tank history.
Basically the same with the panther in less than 2 years from the drawing board too the front (incuding all errors so most the fist batch did set them self on fire during unloading of the train) but too be fair the King Tiger is a redesing of the Tiger with soped armor and the long barrel 8.8 so all automotive cimponents were kinda already tested not just with same more weight 😅
Oh my Goodness my favorite tank infotainment channel and my favorite over nasally British UA-camr, the crossover I didn't know I needed. Thanks for the upload and warm regards guys.
The idea of having a bunker built around a tank turret makes sense I guess; But when it's the entire tank being buried and you need to access your action station by climbing through the emergency hatch in the floor, it's feels kinda desperate and, I don't know, hastily hacked together?
The 'Mighty Jingles' is more than a God. God's pray to him for mercy and foregiveness! Great to see 'the Ancient Mariner' back in tanks where he belongs!

Lmao 😂
Could you please upload the owners manual? I have lost mine 😂

Gotta be the coolest engine deck
Well done! Good to see The Mighty Jingles with us.
The right tank for a war that ended
Sadly it gets overshadowed by the IS-3 and later the IS-7 in modern media and were it not for video games most people wouldn't even know about the IS-4 or IS-6.
I have the IS-4, Object 701, and IS-6 in World of Tanks 😊😊😊
I am glad war thunder exposed me to the is-6. Such a silly boy, it is
Like how you talk about tanks people don't know about but you don't say is-5
@@freedomfrezze Well the IS-5 wasn't really a tank project of its own but rather just another prototype that led to the IS-8/T-10.
Meddel, Imma am Haiden, etzala! Grüße mach Meddlfranggn an den Drachne ❤ Ps: Pass auf! ich weiß wo du wohnst!
That surely is the mighty gnome overlord we're hearing in the Sunday Saltmines
Fantastic.... please get Jingles on board to read more of your videos....for me as a non-native english speaker its so much easier to follow the information you guys give us in your videos.
Love the way that Jingles narrates, hoping for more in the future!
Could it be?! The Mighty Gnome Overlord himself?! Lovely to see him as a guest!
Brilliant to have Jingles on the team!! Thanks
All hail Jingles our mighty gnome overlord!!!
Most detailed history and description of the IS-4 I've heard. Kudos to you!

All the armor ever, in an excellent layout....and an outdated gun. The "when I doubt, stick a D25T in it" effect.
In 1947 year D-25T good gun
the D-25T cannon was still an excellent gun post-war
D25t is still in use as a artillery gun. It's far from outdated in 1947 2 years after Ww2 let alone today were it is used as artillery
Let even a HE round from the D-25 hit your tank, and as Nicholas Moran said, it's a "significant life event"

If left to his own devices, he’ll be misquoting things left and right lol.
Good job, Paul! I am sure you could make great video's on your own. :P
Back to the Salt mines
Love to hear Jingles talk about anything interesting.
Good to hear jingles voice. I cant get enough and I’ve been subbed to him for over a decade
i was not expecting The MightyJingles
We are getting an Is-5 video with this one! (I hope...)
No IS-5 article on their website yet so i doubt their YT channel would make a video on it
Great job, I like how y'all reach out to others to give us the information we need to understand the article.
Took me a second to realize it was Jingles. Haven't heard this guy in over 4 years. Nice to hear him.
JINGLES!!! The Great King of the Gnomes has come to join us!!!
Paul Charlton? Hello there fellow WoT comrade!
Shit!!! Hide!!! The gnome overlord will spot us skiving off from the salt mines!!
MightyJIngles!
1:02 What Chinese border though? The one that later became some of the Stan countries in the Steppes, or the Manchurian border to the North-East.
Glad to still hear from such a relic man
Jingles has always been there for his comunity but missing in the same time
No M62-T2 I guess. That's the gun that makes the magic happen. Or if we go waaaaay back, the S-70...
The M-62 came 20 years after the IS4
Jingles.. priceless
Nice to hear familiar voice 😊
That's great strumming into music btw. Don't change it!

Prototype Heavies, let's go. I'm looking at you War Thunder. They were made and were operational so make it happen please. Gimmie a Object 701.
Jingles has a very good narrating voice
Man, the IS4 model in War Thunder looks way better than the one in WoT 😅
You can assess how germans rushed into service the KT 2 skipping development trials used to refine this tank for combat service.

“Come on man, just one more ton man and we’ll defeat the west come on man just one hundred more mm of UFP armor please comrade I beg.”
Last time i was this early, i turned around and slept for a few more hours.
is that who i think that is? THE MIGHTY JINGLES?!
IS-4 is the best looking heavy tank ever made.
The idea of having a bunker built around a tank turret makes sense I guess; But when it's the entire tank being buried and you need to access your action station by climbing through the emergency hatch in the floor, it's feels kinda desperate and, I don't know, hastily hacked together?
A mortar in the turret? Ok that is original!
Jingles?
Just in time I was eating !
Please make an archive about the Tiran 6 (Israeli's T-62) please, or put the illustration and information in the T-62 archive please
