Hour Of Victory more like Hours Of Agony haaaaaaa thanks for joining me on twitch guys! If you want to hang out in the future, consider giving a follow! www.twitch.tv/jarek4gamingdragon
EDIT: No, Games for windows live DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS GAME. It works with other games, this one is busted. I have done plenty of work arounds. The work around you used for another game does not apply to this one.
dude, check sanctum 2 please
i think i have been asking you for quite a long time
I actually bought this on the xbox 360 , thank god it didn't work.
What do you mean by 12fps? They were going for the stop motion experience!
This reminds me of Turning Point, another terrible WW2 fps on 360. Never played Hour of Victory but Turning Point was a real slog to get through.
Why s
Who doesn't like a framerate that can't legally drink...

Can in Canada
@@robertwhitstone3741 varies per province, where I am in BC its 19 to drink and posess weed (who under 19 doesn't?) But in Alberta you can drink at 18 and drive (learners permit) at 14. BC its 19 and 16. But we had the age of consent at 14 until 2008. Stupid liberals. Consevative party ain't much better either, it's literally liberalism on a different platform. Oh "yellow dog discs" is based out of Wilmington NC!!!
I'm upset you're here and no one noticed
I remember seeing this game on the 360's on-demand store, downloading the demo, and being very much baffled at how absolutely terrible it was. The one thing that stuck out besides the horrid framerates was that boneheaded regenerating health system.
I remember playing the demo for this way back when and weirdly playing it several times just to see how bad it was. I was hooked to see how many things they got wrong.
*gets notification that Jarek uploaded*
*QUICKLY FINDS AND CRACKS OPEN BANG ENERGY*
AWESOME, HAPPY FRIDAY, LETS GO
"That sounds pretty damn good to me. What about you?"
can you play commandos strike force? i just remembered that existed n remember it being really fun
I love it when PC versions are released in seperate regions, thank god for piracy. Remember Tony Hawks Underground 1? The PC version was only released in Austrailia, makes sense.
Never expected to see a local music store mentioned in this video lol. I've been to yellow dog discs a few times back in collage.
I will say the weapon models are actually really nice and accurate, even though the textures are awful.
No, they arent.
@@oh-not-the-bees7872 some definitely aren't
Oh my God I've played this I didn't even remember until you got to the healing part
I would like to play that , I like World war games . I'm still playing the Call of Duty 2 campaign on veteran and I find it nostalgic it's as goodbye if not better than Cod Waw
*good my fucking auto correction it even put fucking as ducking 😂
There’s a yellow dog disks where I live! They sell mostly vinyls but I recently bought some posters from there
The sad thing is that the developers were boasting about how this was the first WWII game to use the Unreal Engine 3, and how awesome it would all look and feel as a result. Whereas the game looks barely PS2 quality in terms of visuals.
Now you know why this game is considered the game that killed off the WWII shooter genre for a long time. You have my deepest sympathies.
It also killed the studio
@@SawdEndymon I can't see any info on that they closed down. I thought they just made a VR game for PS4. But could be wrong I know this game killed Midway also Blacksite. But not sure if it killed NFusion. They were working on a horror game last I checked for Wii.
I think it might also be heavily inspired by Commandos Strike Force.
If you want an amazing WW2 FPS that is powered by Unreal Engine, just play "Medal Of Honor Airborne." Now that's a masterpiece!
@@NexusKin Yeah Jarek covered it, it's good.
I wanna see you play history channel’s FPS Games
I still remember playing The Battle of The Pacific years ago, it's crap honestly

It looks and plays just like Soldier of fortune: payback.

This game's Russian voice acting actually sounds surprisingly good for how bad this game is
Yeah, it seems like it's the same voice acting from Gates of Hell - Ostfront.
I've heard even if you can get the game working past the title screen on PC, you have to extensively manually re-edit a config file related to checkpoints to prevent the game from crashing every time you reach a check point. Shit's fucked, yo.
I just bought a family guy game thats no longer on steam for almost 50 and if u switch to windowed mode from fullscreen and close the game you cant open the game again you are just screwed.
@@MidniteMeatBus Didn't know there was a Family Guy game on PC, that really sucks though.
@@chemergency ya lol. Its a third person shooter it wasnt half bad but the issue I mentioed happened to me unfortunately.
It's your computer saving you from family guy.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon lmfao I love you🤣
But the Thompson was firing from an open bolt, which is a detail that almost no one gets right, so thats something.
and the sten is being held properly, which is rare
HEY shout out to Yellow Dog Disk! Ive been going there for years, its a awesome little CD, Record, old video game store a town over from me in Wilmington NC!
It's always kinda fun to learn about games I never knew existed - even the bad ones. Thanks for suffering through it Jarek.
Same I had literally never heard of this, never seen it at GameStop, a bargain bin, nothing.
Sadly a few friends and I bought this when it came out, even though we knew it would be trash
@@GamesDiddley But why, to laugh at it?
I remember playing the demo of this game when I first got the 360!!!
Lol same! So soon after COD 3 release, I knew WW2 genre was over

@@846nick Call of Duty 3 was its own. Kinda followed after Normandy till the fall of Germany. Multiplayer wasn’t bad
"It's...playable? Don't quote me on that". I want that quote on the box
It's playable, but that doesn't mean it's good.
Yellow dog discs seems like a local (for their area) store that sells online as well. Neat ^-^ I checked them out after you mentioned them Jerek .. I have a good history ordering from places like them so I recommend checking their site out. But yeah... this game was bad
Cutscene look like someone's first week on making SFM or Gmod animation.
Old school Medal of Honor games didn't have blood either btw.
I think European Assault was the first to have it
Looks like someone tried to make a First Person Shooter with the Company of Heroes Engine. At least that game is way much better.
I think the reason you regen health by standing still is because they couldn't bother to program a timer for when you start healing after getting shot, so they just make it that you have to stand still because you can really only safely do that behind cover.
Games for the windows live was a sick practical joke by the Germans during WW2 to troll gamers. It's no wonder why the game wouldn't allow you to play on PC.
It plagued dark souls and gta4 on pc
Pretty sure Robin Atkin Downes voices a character in this game? Kazuhira Miller himself. I'll never forget his character he played in The Saboteur, Sean Devlin. Its ingrained into my mind. Love that game!
"The Saboteur" is a masterpiece compared to this garbage.
@@NexusKin I'd love it to be backcompat on the newer Xbox consoles. Along with Mercenaries 2, The Outfit, Max Payne 3, Majin and The Forsaken Kingdom, Jericho, Fracture, Blacksite. Hey even Hour of Victory. Just to improve its performance. Get some easy achievements out of it. Two Worlds 1&2 should be backcompat on Xbox consoles also. Two Worlds 2 is actually very good. And Two World's 1 could benefit from the extra horsepower in the Xbox consoles. It runs awfully on 360, even with a SSD.
Don't forget the medic from TF2 and the prophet of regret
This game beat CoD Vanguard to the whole "International Task Force in WWII" thing lmao
oh I remember buying this game back when I still bought games on the sole merit of "oh cool box cover".
I greatly appreciate that their is someone out there that covers obscure fps games, both good and bad. Thank you for what you do and all the entertainment you bring!
The boss is german, it makes perfect sense for him to have "NEIN NEIN NEIN" HP
Nice vid, Jared.
Speaking of WWII, have u ever played Commandos: Strike Force? A review of that game would be great
Any chance you'd cover Devastation? It is an obscure 2003 FPS which was built on UE2 and was one of earlier games to feature a physics engine.
Half life 2 technically did it first since it began development earlier than Devastation
This game gave me my first episode of rage as a kid. I kept dying on that snowy tank mission with no checkpoints, straight up snapped the disc
@@xXSgtWolfXx life changing comment.
oh Jarek, you've brought me some old memories, I was dying to try this game, when I did, I couldn't even finish the first segment of the game, not the first level, the first segment, gosh this game was so horrible, I am surprised you made to the final boss
What’s with WW2 games names that have the word “of”? Day of Defeat, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Hearts of Iron are the examples that are in my mind.
Don't forget about the game Turning Point's subtitle: "Fall Of Liberty."
Some of my fav ww2 shooters include:
Half of Life
Halo: Combat of Evolved
Duke of Nukem
Doom of Eternal
Bio of Shock
Cry of Sis
Battle of Field
Counter of Strike
The whole character select idea is interesting for its time, badly implemented but still. Another ww2 game from the year before did something similar and imo was better then this. The game in question is commandos strike force, it might be a nice cleanser after these agonizing hours.
Oh and it is on myabandonware btw
Dude I remember that game I’ve been trying to remember the title forever thank you!
I also played that but didn't finish it there was a particularly difficult level where you play both the Sniper and the Commando where you have to control both.
@@forickgrimaldus8301 i don't remember which level that was but I'm sure someone on here made a guide/playthrough of the game.
@@wyatt4790 oh, happy to help
A hundred goddamn dollars?! Like, I know that not many copies were probably originally sold, but there's gotta be demand to justify the price, scarcity alone doesn't do it. Who wants this?
I remember this game simply from watching Geoff (I think it was Geoff anyways) from RoosterTeeth playing this game back when Achievement Hunter first started and them trying to beat this game on hardest difficulty. Looked miserable haha
I'm gonna put Hour of Victory inside of a Call of Duty: Vanguard box and give it to someone as a Christmas gift. Just to ruin their year.
Who still uses discs in 2021
At least Hour Of Victory is more historically accurate.
@@NexusKin At this point I’d rather have fun over historical accuracy.

That tank mission was also an escort mission. Guy dies in the tank? You start over, and I think there's ONE checkpoint, maybe.
That's why I just said "fuck the tank" and leave it at the start... but if I went too far, the mid-level rubble blocks my way back AAAAA the guy dies, start over!
I had to pause and look away from the screen sometimes cause that framerate is soooo bad. You're a true hero for making it through this one Jarek.
Hour of victory eh more like Hour of agony! lol that got me
I'm reasonably certain this game is actually a rip-off of Commandos Strike Force.
First person WW2 game and with 3 different playable soldiers (An Assault dude, a sniper and a stealth dude, though the Spy in Commandos could use disguises and such.)
The devs for this also made Deadly Dozen and a few other games, they are on steam but Hour of Victory isn't.
HoV's PC port only got released in Europe and incorporated GFWL which was almost never a mandatory requirement for a European-exclusive PC game release, meaning that you can't even play the port unless you use the European client of GFWL.
That AA gun section is ripped straight off from the Tunisia campaign in Call of Duty 2.
Im actually pretty nostalgic about this game. I remember the Mountain base level being hard for like 5 yr old me
The Birgirpall video of this game is ingrained in my mind
"STEALTH, STEALTH, STEALTH, STEALTH!"
he uploaded new video recently
hope he make more
"Your taking away my frames Dutch."
5:14 Looks like a TF2 Garry's Mod animation - complete with the "Spy" saying, "IdiOt!"
I remember this game being hyped as "no mission will play the same way twice" Yeah enemies might do something slightly different, but they're still extreamly dumb.
I know... I KNOW they're not FPS games. But I would be GENUINELY curious to hear your opinions on the Lost Planet franchise. I think there's a lot to be said about them and you do quality analysis videos.
Oh man. I won this game from a giveaway from a YT channel in like 2009-10. While I say won it was more like a loss cause I played 10 minutes of it and I have no idea where it went after those 10 minutes lmao. What an awful experience
Hey bro, are you going to cover Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark?
I second this
Those are third person shooters. He only covers first person shooters
@@bradybakri9611 oh yeah, you are right. Totally forgot about this. Thanks for reminding.
Looks like a original xbox game from 2003 wih HD support.
Also for the "censorship": welcome to the world of German gaming. Where this and bad voiceactors were Standard in the 2000s
4:09 background song?
The cutscenes remind me of SFM/Gary’s mod shit posts
yeah GFWL and archiving games.... if you have a boxed PC copy it still works on WIn10, kinda. Gears 1 for sure
"About that gun, go on try to pick it up"
But before that here have an ad for Doom Eternal the game you'll be WANTING to play, thanks as always UA-cam.
Can you review Far Cry vengance please? I have the feeling that you’re gonna like it :)
Why is there a Sherman with a 76mm gun and t23 turret in North Africa in what I presume 1942 or 43. That's just wrong
What is this. a wanna be cod game that’s more glitchy? Like on the game cube but it’s on Xbox.
Growing up I remember you from airsoft gun vids and a snowboarder hat and beard.
Now I’m 24 watching you play I game I played when I last used to watch you. And now you look like Jackson galaxy at a job interview.
Oh the inevitable March of time
My beard is identical and I still wear that same hat lmao
Personally I haven’t had the pleasure of playing this game myself, but being an advid first person shooter gamer and achiever I can tell you for a fact that you were a little hard on this game. While yes sure it’s probably not up there with all the well known shooters at the time like Call of duty 4, Bioshock etc, it’s actually not too bad compare to the hundreds of poorly built FPS games you can get on PC like The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific 2007 or Crossfire 2007 or Dusk-12: Deadly Zone 2007. I mean with all things considered and when comparing to the other low Budget shooters of the time, I don’t think it’s all that bad, plus your lucky to even have a fully fledged campaign for these sort of games. So all and all I’d say 6 out of 10 for lower budget FPS game.
I have this very very faint memory of playing this game back when I had just purchased my Xbox360. Got stuck on that tank section iirc. Didn't remember it being this bad 😂
I know you don't really seem into sprite-shooters but if you want a good pallet cleanser of a WW2 FPS you might want to look at Blade of Agony - it's a standalone DOOM mod that is basically a Wolfenstein game of old.
Wolofenstein lmao
2:12 Bro... There's tons of PAL copies in Australia, I can find hundreds on eBay for like... $9 to $20.
jarek not being able to fix an old game with an .ini file edit must be like when you have to sneeze but can't
they probably spent 40 buck for a 6 second orchestral loop and put that investment to work
Wow! That a throwback. I remember watching Armake21's review of this back when it came out. "Follow me, lad!"
1:45 I get Kino Der Toten vibes from the artwork and general look of the area.
This is the worst FPS I've ever played and I normally like low tier stuff like this. I think it's a combination of technical problems and just plain old poor design.
The part of reason why Hour of Victory does not want to go past that screen is broken xbox services apps for Windows 10. But, hey, if you wanna play the worst game, you might aswell play it with inferior controls.
Games for Windows Live still works just fine with the latest executable for it.
The only good thing about this game is that it has some of the easiest achievements ever. You just have to speedrun the levels on the easiest difficulty with each character and you'll have almost all of them already.
I remember seeing dozens of copies of this game in Gamestop when i was in the army, all in the $5 or less bin listed at $.99 or less
Hey if you re looking for a game going “unther the radar”? There’s a game call inversion, it is on steam. It like a gears of wars clone with gravity powers. I really liked the game, espeacially the last third of the game.
The game was forgotten a long time agoe. I wouldn’t know the game if was not for an old video of TN tecno from argentina, also hello from argentina.
Next you should try the operation flashpoint games
One game I have never seen mentioned is Pariah by Digital Extremes from 2005.
I actually liked some of the mechanics from that game. It was a Halo clone that wasn't excellent by any means, but still managed to put together a somewhat decent gameplay experience.
Can you cover the Bioshock games please?
You should try a game from 2005 called bet on soldier
It’s one of the worst I’ve ever heard of
It looks like a very shitty/budget version of some of the console only early MoH and CoDs
And also the earlier Wolfenstein games.
This game makes COD WWII look like a game of the year candidate
Ww2 is like quality compared to this. This is coming from someone who liked ww2 though
I remember playing a demo of this game back in the day and yeah, the aiming is dog shit, the crosshair for most weapons is so large that it feels like luck if you manage to hit anything.
To be fair though the graphics aren't that bad for a 2007 xbox 360 game...that framerate though!
Medal Of Honor Airborne is the 2007 Unreal Engine WW2 FPS that's actually good.
you should check out 7554,it's not a good game imo,but i quite like the setting, and it's the first FPS to be developed by a Vietnamese studio
So..this manages to be worse than Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty
Yeah, somehow. If you want an actual good WW2 FPS powered by Unreal Engine, just play "Medal Of Honor Airborne."
I remember that there was a no games for windows live crack for gta 4 back in the day so you probably could have made it work eventually if you looked hard enough.
Games for Windows LIVE sucks.
I own FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage, both physically and on Steam, and it still has this garbage on it. The game is amazing, just like FlatOut 2 (which is what the game is, a HD version of FlatOut 2), but because of Games for Windows LIVE, it wouldn't even launch, because Steam apparently never installed it on the first boot!
6:00 most medal of honor games had no blood, just saying
5:15 Damn Corner Campers 🤣
I remember playing the demo of Hour of Victory back in the day. I don't remember liking it or disliking it, but I certainly forgot about it at some point.
Have you tried a game called Dreamkiller?
Yellow Dog Disc's is a store I live near! I've shopped there for years, it's so weird because I probably handled that game before you because I look through their Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games
I did not even know this game existed. And I have played almost every WWII shooter - even the crappiest ones like Enemy Front or The History Channel's Battle for the Pacific.
The evil cousin of day of defeat
Ah, I remember playing this as a teenager because my parents wouldn't buy me or let me get rated M games...Those were dark times
and to think i considered buying this
