I really enjoy your wow videos, your descriptions are on point and I must say that it’s extremely entertaining to hear you speak. I enjoy your pronunciation of words and the flow with which you speak!
I have been waiting for this one. I have mained a discipline priest for 8 years and the revamp was hard but the playstyle now is more fulfilling and alot more fun. Keep up the good work. It was a pleasure to watch.
Very nice to see you finally play Disc. :D As far as mana goes, it really just requires you to watch your mana and know how much you're going to need for the rest of the fight. A good rule of thumb to save mana is to restrain from using plea or keeping multiple DoTs up, as well as delay Penance to only be used after Radiance casts; lean on Shield Discipline and Smite instead (of course only do this if you need the mana, don't end the fight sitting at 50%).
I normally play a shadow priest, but recently had to heal a dungeon with the guild mates and I used disc instead of holy. I knew the basics from watching vids. I loved it. I am thinking of playing it more often and possibly into BFA. super fun to me. :)
Disc is crazy good. I remember when Nighthold came out, my raid leader asked me to heal, but I wanted to go disc, despite not having any legendaries for it. I healed as much as the resto druid Heal Leader. People really underestimate priests.
I have played a disc priest (Mythic Level Raiding) for about half of the expansion along with an Affliciton Lock. I LOVE DISC PRIEST it is so fun for pve, SO useful, very mobile. For pvp disc is INSANE its so fun. It takes skill, and a lot of it to play a good pvp disc priest so don't go taking that lightly. WITHOUT "CLIQUE" disc would be impossible to play for me
Thanks for the Video, You do a Great Job here 👍👍. Would you please post the String of your grid2 for the Disc Priest ... Would be very nice ... thanks a lot ... 😉
As a ranged dps who wanted to re-roll a healer, I've picked disc first, for obvious reasons. Spoiler alert: don't do the same mistake as I did. The ABC of casting - Always Be Casting, that is so ingrained in a dps spec, will ruin you. Disc can go OOM in under a minute doing relatively little, just spamming Smite or whatever, without going all out. If you do, you'll be out of mana sooner than the lust is over. At least with the other healers you can keep your fingers off the buttons for a few seconds... enjoy the view or something. With disc, there's always something to do, and it will end you. :D
Ummm, smite can't oom you. It's ridiculously cheap and literally costs less than base mana regen - you'd gain mana back doing nothing but Smite spam. What ooms you is too many atonements. The big culprits for wasted mana are usually Shadowmend, Plea, Radiance, and Schism.
Yeah, restrain Plea, and lean on Shield Discipline and Smite to save mana. It really just comes down to watching your mana and knowing how many huge bursts you'll still need for the rest of the fight. There are times I purposely don't use smite while I only have a couple atonements out just to save up more mana if I know I'll need more than I have for the rest of the fight. Mass multi-dotting in Antorus will burn your mana fast too. I pretty much only DoT more than one target if I know there will be a solid 15 or so seconds of incoming damage.
seems like this would be the most related healer to an ffxiv healer...we r always expected to dps, instead of keeping everyone topped off, we keep them just alive enough to survive tank busters. Im thining about starting a disc priest on wow tho, looks like a lot of fun! ^^
I played disc priest all the way up to quitting about 4 months after MOP came out. Just coming back this week, and I am at a loss as to how to use the disc priest. Yours is like the 4th guide I have watched and I still have serious issues. Just has become to much to bounce between so many things dotting, healing, and dpsing. Gonna have to pass on the character as a healer, which is sad because it was my favorite
I love your guides but this one was missing a lot of information which could really help out a new disc priest. Like the way radiance won’t re apply atonement to a player who already has it unless there are no other targets. Disc healing is also not subject to damage reduction, which means you can heal using kin Gareth in his add phase. A few other things too, hit me up if you wanna chat. Also welcome to horde side! Hopping to raid with you soon x
Nice video dude! Can you make an advanced guide like stats gear talents gameplay etc? I know that these kind of videos exist already but maybe there are sbody who understands disc more if you talk about it (like me). Overall it's a nice idea though. Of course after the pvp video 😄
Resto druid and dpriest are very close in game play then most think. To get the most hps they require knowledge of fight and correct set up (I know knowing the fight helps for all healers but more so with these clases). In other words if you like druid healing dpriest will be fun for you as well.
Madskirruzu-senpai, will you be kind enough to share your disc priest grid2 profile and weak auras (these in your execution are the hawt stuff)? Pretty please :
Someone already asked it but because there was no answer i will ask again. Could you please share your Grid Profile for Disc i want to move from Vuhdo to Grid2 i would really appreciate it. Oh and i just found this Channel but i already Love your Videos i just Subsribed as well, keep up the good work. :)
I never meant to say that they were bad lol. Mistweaver is almost worse at everything compared to disc priest. In raiding especially mythic raiding no healer can handle big aoe damage like disc priest does. What I am trying to say for people who don't have a disc priest or are planning to make a disc priest their problems. I don't think Madskillz talked about any of the things that disc priest were weak at. If I was looking at the video and wanted to pick my next healer then I would want to know the things that the class is not good at as well as the things that they are good at. Is Disc as good as other healers in high M+? No if you are looking to do high M+ pick a Paladin or a Druid. Saying that can they do high M+ (20+)? Yes but it is much harder then if you played a Druid or a paladin. When I say "core problems" I really mean the things that they are not good at but as Madskillz points out they also have a lot of benefits.
Alright so I guess I was a little general. Let me talk more detail. Rapture is not that great. Each shield you put out costs about 25k Mana and if you wanted to shield the entire raid (which is the point) then that will cost about half your Mana. When the damage finally comes the first shields that you applied will have deteriorated to almost nothing. In M+ we severely lack single target healing. I have ended up killing people by using shadow mend on high keys when people have large dots on them (shade of Medivh inferno bolt upper Kara +19). Disc priest healing is not meant for high continuous damage which all other healers can mostly deal with. The artifact in m+ is only as strong as a penance since you only can have atonement on 5 people and it's weaker then penance if it dosent crit. For a damage dealing healer you don't really have many damage abilities. Your main "rotation" is smite and maintaining purge the wicked which has a pretty high Mana costs for the amount of damage it does (almost as strong as a sunfire). Penance if you cast it on cool down will destroy your Mana and it leaves you without your main healing ability. Shielding yourself for survivability sounds good but in practice it's not as good as an actual cooldown and it's worse if your not using Grace. Also disc priest is the only healer without an aoe damage ability baseline. Multi doting with purge the wicked does not do much damage or healing and costs a chunk or Mana (like I previously said). If your a good resto druid or holy paladin or for that matter any other healer then you can easily out dps a disc priest with a DPS rotation which is more fun. It would help if disc priest mastery increased it's damage then maybe it would truly fit the role of a damage based healer but currently It doesn't. This leaves ends up leaving them with very pronounced weaknesses and problems.
Drfreaky rapture is more for getting atonements out, and shadowmend is one of the most powerful single target heal spammable spells in the game. If that's not enough use friendly penance to top off allies. If it's still not enough then you need to stack more hate and critics for dungeons.
I really enjoy your wow videos, your descriptions are on point and I must say that it’s extremely entertaining to hear you speak. I enjoy your pronunciation of words and the flow with which you speak!

This is reaaallly well explained, I just started a disc priest and have 4 other healers at high Ilvl but disc is most fun so far
Very nice to see you finally play Disc. :D As far as mana goes, it really just requires you to watch your mana and know how much you're going to need for the rest of the fight.

I'm a very casual player trying to get back into playing and this did help with giving me motivation to play my 110 disc priest in lfg/lfr :) ty!
I normally play a shadow priest, but recently had to heal a dungeon with the guild mates and I used disc instead of holy. I knew the basics from watching vids. I loved it. I am thinking of playing it more often and possibly into BFA. super fun to me. :)

Great Video! Finally You have a Disc :) also Evangelism works with Velen and Shadowfiend great, spam smite to save mana

This is correct too many Pleas will end you. Smite is basically free, and timing is EVERYTHING for a Discipline priest.
Yeah, restrain Plea, and lean on Shield Discipline and Smite to save mana. rotation? how do you have your set up bars set
Nice video dude! Can you make an advanced guide like stats gear talents gameplay etc? I know that these kind of videos exist already but maybe there are sbody who understands disc more if you talk about it (like me). Overall it's a nice idea though. Of course after the pvp video 😄

Thanks for the review. Blizz destroyed disc priest with Legion.
damn no weakauras or grid2 profile :'( im fucked xD
so yeah nevermind going back to holy. im to worried to keep people alive to know the boss

disc priest macros?
Disc priest in high m+ is pretty bad. You really have to play disc priest for a while to understand a lot of their core problems which there are many.
They don't have pally/druid survivability, but they do have potential in high keys up to 25 or so.
You mentioned one problem, not many, and by definition niche situations are not core problems.
That's because there aren't really many core problems. They'd be fine with more survivability.

huge huge burst... yeah no... disc just sux
I like most of your videos but this one was a little too basic.
Orleans Gac I need basic
HOW DO I HEAL? You dont heal lol
Well yeah he does, get atonements on your teammates and then attack the enemies. The dmg will heal through atonements
