    credit to CD projekt red, they fixed cyberpunk and continued working on it almost 4 years after its release. If this was Bethesda, Ubisoft or EA, they would've already made 10 games and forget that thing they released was bad. Hell, even witcher 3 still receives updates despite almost a decade since its release and it was GOTY. They didn't need to do anything on that game.

    Mind if I ask about what you don't like about Majora's Mask? I understand it's divisive due to the time mechanic, but I think it's the best Zelda ever released, and one of Nintendo's best games period. Thank you for the video, enjoyed hearing your thoughts.

    14:38 I would say it's not about consequences from the authority or market. It's about no consequences from gamers. Like bethesda, ea, ubisoft reputation is trash, the most games they developing in last almost 10 years are trash. And still people will happily buy they new products. Even pre order them. I mean, new assasin's creed game is in the whole pull of drama and controversy and I bet when game will release it still will be sold few millions copies. Cause major audience suck. Sorry, but it's true. If gamers just stopped giving money to corpos, they would made much better games or went bankrupt long time ago.
    16:21 I pre ordered games very few times, only from game devs I relly want to support. But my last pre ordered game that convinced me to fully stop this practice was borderelands 3. That was such huge disappointment. It was really an eyes opening experience. Now I don't pre order games even from well known studios. This already saved me from cyberpunk 2077 disaster. So yeah, just don't pre order games even from your favorite studious, you never know when they go from top to trash.

    this is not problem of late stage captalism because communism had the same problem the real reason is that we have governments ,fund raising organization and banks that keep backing up those companies and ensuring they stay afloat no matter what so you get stuck with this compentency problem of a dysfunctional company that should fail but will not be closed down because of outside interference

      Part of it is also the slop enjoyers. No matter how many shadow backers you have, if the company doesn't make any profit, whatsoever, it's gonna die pretty quickly. Concord was a pretty good example of this. If people just don't buy it, it won't gain traction.

    Sadly, game companies putting out broken or unfinished games is no different than electronic companies selling devices with built in engineered obsolescence so you have to buy replacements when they easily break, or drug companies that make medicine designed to help you "manage your illness" instead of cure your illness. It really does all come down to money.

    Little correction about Pokémon from the video: Nintendo only partially owns the IP, most of it is owned by Game Freak, and they are responsible for the game development. So, every fuckup in the games is purely Game Freak's fault.
    And Game Freak always sucked at making games. The first gen Pokémon games were helt together by wellwishes and duct tape, and Gold and Silver were so incompetently designed, that the dev team ran out of cartridge space before HALF of the planned content was even implemented. Satoru Iwata (yes, THAT Satoru Iwata) had to tell Game Freak how to compress data efficiently to get the entire game on the cartridge, which proved to be so effective that the team could add the maps from the first game into Gold and Silver, which is why the endgame has you revisit Kanto.

    • @residentevilman64
      @residentevilman64 23 дні тому

      Your last bit of information seems to be wrong. The algorithm Iwata made sped up the game, but took up more space on the cartridge. Game Freak got everything in by upgrading the ROM size.

    Nah. If I buy chocolate with a hole in the wrapping paper. I will get my money back. If u buy a car without engine. And the company doesn't want to pay me back that ia illegal.
    Games should be included in our buyer rights. I live in EU, so maybe it is different here. Here, you can't sell anything outside of games that is not working, not from a company, like IKEA. Money back guarantee 💯 if shit ain't working..
    We can even take home atuff and try it for 7 days and still be able to return it if we are not happy with the product. We have 30 days to actually refund something. Games should work the same. I buy a game and after 9 hours there is tons of bugs. Money back

      ^ this, sadly. my grandma can't operate a smart phone / probably never touched a pc in her life, but i still found her data for sale online. any company you interact with, online or offline, is potentially collecting / selling your information. in other countries, personal data is considered personal property, so it's illegal to sell it without meeting strict requirements (like the GDPR). in the usa, that's not the case. i don't think it's worth the hassle to avoid something that can't be realistically prevented... yet.

    This video is a bit disingenuous as it just disregards all the broken video games from all the previous generations as well. The only reason why those don't get talked about is because everyone forgot about them. Broken games have always been here, we just never had Social Media back then to be able to spread the word around as fast or as often.

    • @LilaoftheWind
      @LilaoftheWind  24 дні тому +5

      nakeyjakey addresses that in the beginning. i think it's about how acceptable it's become for big game companies to release broken games, to the point where broken games are beating historic records once held by 'un-broken' games and increasingly becoming more profitable than them as a result. Not that broken games are a new practice, but we're seeing it more from established leaders in the industry, versus mostly indie devs or small teams (who, in my view, have the right to be imperfect as they learn/grow).

    • @theotherjared9824
      @theotherjared9824 24 дні тому +4

      The difference is that a broken game back then was just that, a broken game. It would get returned for a refund and that was the end of the story. In the modern age, there is the expectation that the game will improve over time, so we are not allowed to criticize it for being broken at launch. It's a toxic mentality that has only become prevalent in the last decade.

      old broken game: cheap shovelware that you can still get a refund on because it's a one and done kind of deal
      new broken game: $80 super-game that the publishers gaslight everyone into thinking will improve for long enough to prevent a refund
