Being raised in Tsawwassen (and Ladner) about 1.5 decades after this was filmed, oh boy, did it change a lot! I always knew that, but I always assumed Highway 17 was a four-lane freeway from (4)99 to 56th Street and on the ferry causeway.
This even predates the Roberts Bank Railway!
Incredible blast from the past!
Unreal! Thanks to all for sharing this 👍🇨🇦
Wonderful - moved to Tsawwassen in March 1971 and this brings a lot of it back to mind as it was then!
Ah, memories... Really happy you enjoyed watching, Karin!
Wow.....I recall going on trips from N Burnaby to Richmond and Ladner to the long gone farms....we used to get most of our produce and meat from the area.
As a kid we drove this route many times in the 1960s, so much so that in my memory it's like this film, not built up as now. It helps that when I do (rarely) go out 99 (499), there's still lots of farms due to Agricultural Land Reserve rules. But they're slowly becoming mass greenhouses or subdivisions or malls.
Wow the changes!
just as i remember it as a child
Are you able to slow your videos down so we can see more details?
Yup! Click on settings (gear icon bottom right) to adjust speed.
I think your speedometer's off a bit
Is it just me or is the median white and side lines yellow, instead of being the other way round?
I was looking through the comments to see if anyone else had noticed
Yes, BC didn't make the switch until the early 70s, to bring it in line with the rest of North America (and most of the world).
@@russallert thanks for the comment bud, the more you know 😄... Have a great long weekend 🙌
