    I am American and my Mama was born in Ireland.
    My Mama made egg custard the very same was but used nutmeg.
    I grew up on egg custard and I made it same was for my children and now Grandchildren and soon one Great Grandbaby.
    It's delicious and don't cost much money to make.

      You're welcome, grated nutmeg is an ingredient in this recipe.
      We did not use it this instance because our kid don't like it, but we mentioned that somewhere in the video. I t is the same recipe.💔

      Yes it does, we did not use those in this instance because our kids does not like them on the custard.

    This was my craving during my entire pregnancy with my son , I absolutely love egg custard 🥰 and I followed your recipe and made it myself and hell yes!!     Made this yesterday and halved the recipe. Plus I added nutmeg and raisins like my grandmother used to do. It was delicious.

      We don't add ginger, but nutmeg is an ingredient for this recipe.

    thank you for sharing this recipe, this is exactly what I was looking for a while. my mom made it for us as kids but never showed us how to make it. it's so expensive to buy it in the stores in Toronto. now I can make it for my kids.

    So I just wanted to suggest that to use a metal pan to put your glass pan down in because it's liquidy and it will collect any spills that might happen and also I've never seen custom-made without the crust

      Yes you can use skim milk and not use the essence bit it won't taste the same of course.
      Boiled Custard is usually made with custard powder, we have a video on this channel you can check it out.

    I left out 1 can of evaporated milk to make it denser. Lacking almond extract, replaced with vanilla.

      If you want to do that it would be better to grate the lemon zest instead of adding the juice.

      Hi Jaya, you can use Custard Powder but The Custard Powder method is different. you mix custard powder in water, add to boiling milk and stir until it thickens and remove from stove. Then put in Fridge.

    Next time put it in a pan with water in th oven an it will finish baking more fast also u will save som gas

      It is best to use one that states that it is Oven safe, however it is also said that all thick glassware are made to withstand oven temps. so it should be ok.
      You have to decide if you want to try it or not based on that.
