Ive been debating on using one of these as a base to see what different barrel sprial will do to them. Funny thing is the sprials will cost more than the bottles
Best to use cheap bottles for that. We did a video about aging spires a while ago. Here's the link if you're interested. Thanks for watching!

I just got my first bottle of Benchmark and just a bit less than 13 dollars, I was surprised.
It actually has a nice taste. Surely something I would buy again.
On a serious (bourbon) note, I have the Benchmark Full Proof. At first I wasn’t crazy about it, but as it had opened up, I’ve come to really like it.
David
For 25 bucks, I'd keep that as a regular on the shelf if it was available around here.
I call it a draw, between the two, and I suggest a blind taste challenge.
Yeah, they're pretty close!
First video I've seen of you guys and my first comment on your video, obviously. I totally understand both of yall's assessmet of these budget bourbons, but do you think that maybe distillers intend certain whiskeys to be used as mixers? If so, I understand tasting them neat, obviously, but maybe that's not a fair assessment based on their intended usage. What do yall think?
I (Ben) think most of the "standard", low budget offerings from most distillers are meant to be mixers. I definitely don't think these are meant to be sipped neat. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Team Ancient Age all day long. Benchmark regular is rather harsh to me even in a cocktail. Benchmark Top Floor is decent though
Butterscotch all day long on the Benchmark. It's more pronounced in the Full Proof, but it's there at the 80 as well.
Finally got to try The ancient age last night, and I really enjoyed it. I found it. It was mellow enough. It wasn’t beating up my pallet. Evan Williams does not do it for me. I don’t enjoy it and I find it beats my pallet up a little too much at that price point I would expect that. Great review guys now I need to go find some benchmark.
Glad you found something you like! I fi d that the Benchmark is even a bit more mellow than the Ancient Age. Thanks for watching!
Y’all should review the Ancient Ancient Age 10 Star. I picked up a bottle of it in Louisville as I haven’t seen it around here. I’ve yet to open it but reading some reviews it seems it should be reviewed side by side w/ Blanton’s.
Perhaps a future review idea?
Keep drinking…Bourbon.
I've been wanting to do that one, but it's unavailable in MN. We've each got some vacations this summer so we'll be looking for bottles that we can't find around here. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Ancient Age 90 is pretty good stuff! Nice review!
Thanks for watching! We can't get the 90 proof here in Minnesota. I'd love to put it up against Blantons...for science.
Check into Bowman Brothers whiskeys. It is said that this brand also uses the Buffalo Trace #2 Mash bill.
That's a brand I've been meaning to explore. I've had a couple pours at a bar and really liked them. Some of their stuff is available in MN and some isn't. Thanks for watching!
My everyday bourbon neat or on ice with a little coke cola
If you were a kid wearing husky corduroy pants in the early 80s while your friends were wearing 501s....you know EXACTLY what is being said here.
🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha tasting like corduroy!
Come to think of it EW Bonded tastes like corduroy.
We might have to revisit that one 🤣
AA is a drain pour😅
Yeah, not much going on with that one!
I couldn’t understand what the guy in the black shirt was saying, I had to move on.
If you don't mind...which part did you not understand?
@@TheBourbonNote when he was speaking he was mumbling and not speaking clearly and I had a very hard time understanding what he was saying.
You guys crack me up! You can tell it tastes like corduroy because after you drink it, you pant.
I’m here all week, folks!
You and Greg are peas in a pod with the jokes😆
@@TheBourbonNote 🤣
Too much chit chat.
Yeah, we tend to do that.
