Digging Out A 1947 Ford Coupe That Was Street Rodded In the 1970s!!

  • The last time we were at Carl's, we were working on removing the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am to deliver it to a viewer. Now that we have some room in the garage, it's time to dig out the next car that will be for sale. Carl's brother originally owned the 47 Coupe, and the two of them street rodded it back in the 70s. The Coupe is powered by a 302 SBF with an automatic trans and a 55-57 Chevy rear end. The bones of this car are super solid and its a great start for killer hot rod. Maybe Mike has enough in his 20/20 Challenge fund to pick this one up!!

    Hey Matt & Mike
I was almost crying to see this car coming into the light of day.
One of my greatest regreats is that I sold my 46 ford coupe before joining the Army in 1966.
If I could get this car at the right price I would be making a road trip to Pa.
But I know it is going to pull way more than I can afford.
    Thanx for the video.
And thanx for helpping Karl do the clean out, You guys Rock !
    Be safe and well

Great to see you guys out in the '34. Liked that Ford, though. The 302 Windsor in my dad's old Australian Failane. Great sound great reliability, respectable power for its day. Great first project for someone.

Mike, you need this car...I had a 47 with a 302 and C4 and 9" rear with parallel leafs. Solid beam front axel and 70s power steering. In 1979 my wife and two kids put 7500 miles on it in 2 months, driving all over the United States. 😀

Morning Matt & Mike, it's great what you are doing for Carl, I see a pattern here, car guy's with a decent size shop packed with projects, sometimes more than one man can accomplish(unless you are Matt), hopefully Mike will pick this car up, put it back together, get it running & driving, move it on to someone looking for a late 40's street rod. You guy's keep up the great work!!

That 46 Coupe is on my bucket list. I did do a frame off on a 41 Chevy 2 door sedan. 355 ci with 4speed. Would love that one if it were closer to east Tx and of course at a really reasonable price. It would have been a great stable mate for the 54Ford pick up I did in the mid 70s. Someone is going to have a great cruiser with all the now available newer parts.

I will never understand why so many people take a running, solid car apart and this one's a nice car at that, then walk away. Marketplace is full of these life got in the way projects of all ages and in various states of disassembly. A couple weeks work and this Ford is back on the road where it belongs. A great driver it would be .....and it's a Ford in a Ford ......and that's cool...... and that's coming from a Chevy guy.
