I bought this product after reviewing this video and installed this USB on my 2013 Spyder RT. I went by the video and this installed perfectly. I am very pleased with the product and it looks like a factory product on my Spyder. My total install time was around 1.5 hours from start to complete finish. The most difficult part is cutting the hole for the device, but the video does a great job explaining how to accomplish that. I hope this helps with your buying decision.
Great video, but it took me a lot more than 45 minutes. Also, if you have one, the Dremel tool works perfectly for cutting the hole in the panel to mount the USB port. All in all, a great video!
Hey Pierre my name is Todd from Tennessee America about a USB for my can I am Spyder RT I just want to say thank you I was it sure if I could do it believe me I’m not a mechanic but watching your video I thought I could do it and I did it looks great and thank you so much I plan on buying a lot more from your company I just want to say thank you again
Thanks Pierre, this was my first addition to my 2013 RT SE5. Mirror's came off a little differently (used the owners manual). Followed your instructions and job done. Gives me confidence to do more work on the bike.Great videos keep them coming.Alex
i love your video it had a lot of info and was grate detail on taking the bike apart and getting to the wires BUT you connected the so fast with no explanation..
Great video! would love to see something where you attach to the existing usb cable in the frunk to one of the open dash ports on the 2019 RTL. Should be really easy. Right now, I have the usb cable coming out of the frunk and under the windshield to BRP connect with my phone
Pierre, thank you for you videos!! Yours are a superior quality and are concise. Some show every single scre coming out.....sheesh! You point out which need to be removed and do so very clearly! I just installed the USB switch and found my wiring behind the temp gauge to be a bit different. Might mention this? I had a beige and black, orange and red and a black and purple wire all going into a modular plug. I purchased the exact same connectors you used in the video. First try.....no power to the switch. I chased and troubleshooter with volt meter and identified the issue to be in the blue tap connector on the positive wire.. Tried 3 times and used a new connector each time. Got power the 3rd try for a moment but I didn't have the switch wire seated fully into the connector and it pulled out when I moved the plug. Then my whole dash went black. I thought I fried the ecu!!! I calmly engaged in troubleshooting the dash issue and found it to be a 10amp fuse. Whew!!! I am pretty bold when it comes to doing my own maintenance and installations and this one should have been a piece of cake.....lol. I ditched the stupid tap splice connectors and did a solder instead. Perfect!! All that to say, perhaps mention some basic things to check if you don't get the desired outcome on the first try? 😉😏. Again, thanks for posting your videos! They have given me the confidence to do so much on my own!
Great video, can you do a video of duel usb but do it on a 2018 RTL (heard the wiring on dash is different due to instrument panel is different) and tap into the GPS wires that everyone says is under the seat. Or best place to tap in. Thanks
Got it done but it was a bit more of a struggle. Took me about 2 hours. I found that one of Torx 30 screws holding the large panel on was missing. Also, one of the stainless steel Torx 25 screws holding the dash was missing and I lost another one when it dropped inside the cowling. Can you sell me some replacement screws?
Guillotine connectors. They are complete garbage and in a few years with cause corrosion to eat the wires. Cut and splice properly with solder or shrink tube butt connectors
@@pierre-spydertvpoliquin-sp9082 Pierre, what do you call the 16 gauge connectors shown in gray in the video? Do you have a link to a page where they can be purchased?

Hey Pierre, do you think that you could do an updated version of this video that will tell us where we can tap into the positive power supply on a 2018 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited? As you know, the instrument/display panel is all digital, so no analog meters/gauges to tap into. Thank you!
I just took my 2018 Canam Spyder rt apart to do this. I had to take the whole front end off including the windshield just to cut a tie wrap that was kieeping me from pulling the dash out. but alas there were only speaker wires and then main pluges in the center of the dash with many wires. Wraped tight with looks like shrink wrap. No idea which wires to use so have to reassembly everything now. Dont know which wires are accessory wires.

What year is the bike you are doing this on? Reason I'm asking is because I read something about the wires being different behind the gas guage in the newer spyders. I have a 2016 RT LTD, and I'm very interested in doing this.
Hello John....we have never had any panels come off, i got the tip from our dealerships and from what i've seen on the web, lots of people recommend it..... To each his own.
Thank you, i'm actually starting to have fun with these..... just lots of work to do a good editing, lots of camera angles and then in french and english.... i get mix up something.....lol
It will be a regular USB charge port the same as a normal charge adapter you would use in your home, USB2.0/3.0 etc are irrelevant for a basic charge port. Output current on this was 3.1A I believe.
