Thanks man, my only hf marathon so far was 1:33 with less than 40 k a week as training , now i'm aiming to break the 1.30 barrier... but still i cannot train more than 40 k, or 4 sessions per week,,, so it will be tough but i know i can come very close to do it.. the difference is that i used to train with too much intensity and i was neglecting the zone 2 easy run, now i'm trying to have 2 easy runs per week, one long tempo run and one hiit session.. lets' see how it goes in about a month..
Really useful tips, its made me realise that perhaps im not ready for a 1:30 half. More likely to be around 1:35 -1:40. Finding it hard to fit training in around fatherhood. My first half is in 6 weeks. I can run a 5k in 19:30 a 10k at 42:30 and 16.1km @1:11. So im close. But your video has made realise the type of tempo training in need to undertake. Cheers, hopefully ill get there.
You’re close! 6 weeks is still plenty of time. As a dad myself (3 kids), I totally get the challenge of finding time to fit it all in. The game changer for me was waking up early. It’s hard and it’s a sacrifice but for me, it guarantees I get the run in. As far as your training goes, tempo will definitely chip away at the gap to sub 1:30. You can also do things like loads of intervals with short recovery times; that’ll also increase that threshold.
I've started I guess "serious" running again. I was able to run 1/2 at 2.00.12 so that last 6km where easy 5.20 min pace. I was able to run 10k in 39.45 min, 1/2 in 1h 34min and a 1/1 in 3h 29min when I was 20. But now I'm 53y old, so I have no idea what would be a realistic goal in my age, running around 25km a week. Greetings from Finland.
Thanks for this great plan! It looks very good to me! This is now my 3. attempt to run the HM under 1:30. Last year it was 1:37. I have 12 weeks left until the HM. 🙂 How much time would you advice to spend on training of the core?
1:33 ! I am new to running (switched from cycling 12 months ago) so I think improving my HM time feels like the best way to improve my full marathon - because endurance isn't a problem for me. I have managed a 3:43 in training relatively easily from a cardio-vascular/energy position, but my joints felt a bit beaten up after! Thoughts?
Thanks for those insights! Question regarding those 8-16x400 meter repeats: how long should the resting period be between the intervals and in which tempo they should be run?
Thanks for watching! In this case, I would keep the rest between each interval around 2 minutes and as a light jog. Depending what kind of shape you’re in and terrain, etc, you could walk but the key is to just keep moving for those 2 minutes. If you don’t feel like that recovery is enough, either slow down the fast reps a bit or increase your rest up to 3 minutes.
Good question. A lot of it is what you prefer and what your body can handle. I’ve run half marathons taking nutrition and I’ve run some without. With where you’re at, I’d say take atleast 1 gel and take it about 30 minutes into the race. You could get away with a second one if your stomach can handle it.
Between both of those distances, and depending how many runs per week you’re doing, 5k to 13k is probably good for midweek runs. Build up to 15k+ as a long run
that would be awesome!!! I am doing around 50 miles a week but I think I need some workout plans or maybe see about coaching. I am guessing you offer these services?@@CoachJasonatRunningSecrets

Thank you very much. Currently, I am working hard, try to go sub 90 minutes in 7 weeks.
Stay strong! 💪🏽
1:58, but promised (just a bad wager on my end) to try for 1:45 at the Brooklyn Half. Thanks!
Good luck!
1:31 HM PB… so close but yet so far. We go again 💪🏻
You got this!!
Same with me ...1.31.32 ..🤗

19.30 5k seems quite abit better than the rest of your runs.
How did you get on?
1:36 (with walking some of mile 11 and 12). Wish I had bought a gel with me lol. Really enjoyed this video.
Thanks! 💪🏽💪🏽

Thanks for watching! 😁 I bet with some consistent weeks and months of training, you could surprise yourself with a great time.
Easy. Just try it at 6-8 degrees c.

I’d say 2-3 days per week would get you in the right direction.

Excellent tips, thank you
Thanks for watching and for the comment! ❤️
Currently 1:37, training for the 1:29 mark now
So close! You can do it 💪🏽
@@CoachJasonatRunningSecrets thanks a lot, coach Jason! 🫡🏃🏿♂️
How to incorporate the elevation in pacing strategy? I will be running a half marathon on a rolling route wich has about 200mts of elevation.
I have a question, what do you think about nutrition for a half. Should you be taking 0-1-2 gels? Pb is about 1:43 right now

How long should my easy runs go? 10km or 15km?

HM PB 1hr:45mins.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What pace should long run be?
Conversation paced if it’s an EZ day. If there is speed work within the long run, it’ll be somewhere between 6:30-7:30 and for a handful of miles.
Is this per mile or per km
1:35 for me!!
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
1:33 for now, aiming at 1:30 in 6 weeks.
You got this!
My pr 1.31 ..3mac 2024 ...now i want to target 1.29 ..
