    Dave doesn't get half the recognition he deserves. Hawkwind ain't merely a trippy band to get stoned to, they're a bloody good band and, thanks to Dave, they've kept going through fad after fad and continued to produce astounding sounds and amazing music. I have total respect...

      I saw them in Watford in 1970 in a great little local gig called the Kingham hall (it is now a carpark) for fifty pennies and I have never forgotten it. For those across the pond known as the Atlantic ocean that is less than a can of coke.

    There has never been or ever will be a band like hawkwind! They are a one of and are unique! I can't name one band who have made so many albums and if you played them to someone who hadn't heard them before they would think that they were made by different bands! That is so hard to do to be so unique and at the same time unmistakably hawkwind! They are a very underrated band and could have been a lot more famous but they refused to sell out just for money and stayed independent and true to themselves! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and they will be sorely missed and we won't see their like again.... Hawkwind are the true masters of the universe and I thank you mr Brock for showing me how music can change someone's life!👍👌💪👏👏👏👏❤️

      @@sidhawkwind8179 True, the last good album was "Levitation", but the CD version of "The Business" was a very stoned album, so was "The Chronicle Of The Black Sword" ; they pale in comparison with 70's Hawkwind but still had atmosphere.

      That means nothing, Brock is great mainly with other talent working with him, hence why Space Ritual being so good, remember who the creator was, and who is actually responsible for Hawkwind's launch, after Levitation the Band was basically a Hawkwind tribute Band, and not really that good at it either, that out of the shadows video i was at was shocking, i stopped going to see the Band after that redo of Spirit of the Age, that gig was actually not too bad, certainly tighter and fuller. Plus they knicked my
      pseudonym and song title " Neon Skyline". I've had it since 1979.

    Hello DAVE and all other cosmic eternal peoples, the recent midsummers eve/day Stonehenge free festival gathering 2024, was a cosmicly amazing successful event , I was there and pleased to see all the free natural eternal peoples of the infinite wild natural eternal cosmos enjoying themselves, there WILL DEFINATELY soon be the return of the Stonehenge free festivals FOR ETERNITY , REGULARLY, and ALL other free festivals also FOR ETERNITY , the IMPORTANT thing is, the more the natural wilderness returns back to the northern side/edge of Stonehenge (where the small "barrow hills" and traditional pyramid stage/ main festival site area is), i.e. the tarmac, roads, fences, artificial things e.t.c. being taken up, and the natural mud, turf and other plants growing back,, the sooner the better, and the Stonehenge free festivals Will DEFINATELY return even MORE sooner
    it is PRIMARILY NECESSARY for the northern plains tundra/fields ( i.e. where the main free festival, pyramid stage , small" barrow hills" usually is) to become completely natural wilderness again , there will still be a route to the south of Stonehenge for traffic travelling east to west/ west to east, and yet that route will eventually have the tarmac removed e.t.c. also , and then just become a flat dry smooth natural mud route that vehicles can STILL use 100% safely o.k. at the same speeds as before, (that southern only (east to west/west to east) road re-naturalisation (eventually back to a vehicle safe flat dry mud road) is in the more distant future, but to the sides and northern edges all around Stonehenge ,re-naturalisation back to completely natural tundra is VERY DEFINATELY IMMINENT and IMPORTANTLY it is better NOT to actually scorch/burn the actual turf/grass soils e.t,c. in any way , we are elf minimalist-tech eco-friendly(primarily) peoples, Stonehenge is here for ETERNITY , and so are we ALL, and so is all our eco friendly cosmic eternal music equipment e.t.c. any planes, helicopters, U.F.O. , other craft e.t.c. e.t.c. in the sky and space is ONLY Soviet Union Russian, so rest assured EVERYTHING is o.k. and 100% ECOFRIENDLY, see you soon and a DEFINIATE eco friendly free festival ETERNITY ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED

    I just read some more about this. Dave didn't finally win the legal battle until 2002, but I heard about the legal battle from people who worked at the Bayou in Baton Rouge in 1994. I drove to Baton Rouge that year because my cousin there told me he saw an ad for a Hawkwind concert at The Bayou. Del Dettmar was with the group, the audience was yelling "Hawkwind!" a lot, and they played Hawkwind classics. I saw Nik play Hawkwind classics in 1995, but his band was "Nik Turner's Space Ritual."

    Dave has always been the mainstay and for my money the most talented.
    But the mighty Hawkwind were always in flux..so many creative minds bound to cause differences.But he is so right here talking about computers and AI having a big say...wicked stuff available which they struggled mightily and brilliantly to bring us in the past..bravo.
    New album Onward is a magnificent return...polished and inspired..rock on!!

    Yes, I would agree with that. It wasn't quite the same after Nik Turner was thrown out in the mid-80s. The combination of different influences disappeared after that, or maybe it was just that the creativity had dried up a bit. Either way, I defy anyone to say that Hawkwind after that date were better than any Hawkwind line-up before it. Still, I respect Dave Brock but we can't allow that kind of respect to detract from the reality of the situation.

    Nik Turner's Space Ritual has been the living incarnation of Hawkwind for a long time, and they are phenomenal. Nik lost the legal battle with Dave over the name Hawkwind in the mid-90's. Dave was the chief founder of the band, so he got to keep the name although he gave up the old sound. Nik Turner kept playing Hawkwind classics with his version, but he didn't get to keep the name. It was a semantics contest that Nik lost, but he reincarnated the old Hawkwind. They're still awesome.

    Can't disagree with that really though I quite liked some of the early 80s stuff but once Nik Turner left, the creative element which was coming from different sources within the group, despite the tensions (actually probably because of the tensions) dried up after Dave became the dominant force in the group and would accept no opposition. That is the harsh reality.

    • @kirkhunter146
      @kirkhunter146 3 роки тому

      No that's your harsh reality, you did not like later stuff, lots of us did like later stuff and its a shame for you that you didn't like it, especially the early 90s stuff with Simon House. It was great. Seen the band 456 times, got everything they ever did, some stuff better than other stuff. Same with all bands
