    Hi sir, I got admit to the MSCS program at IU Bloomington and the MEng in CS (1-year course) program at University of Cincinnati. Which one do you suggest?
    I heard that location is a con for IU Bloomington.
    Also i heard that due to the current situation, the Bay area is good for opportunities. I'm considering attending college in the Bay Area later if that's the case.
    Could you please advice me.

    My daughter wants to do MS in CS . She has admission offer from ASU, UC Santa Cruz and University of Southern California .. which is very expensive . Unable to decide whether she should pursue MS in Comp Science. If yes, the other universities are not so expensive compared to University of Southern California but are lower in rank .. don’t know whether she can get a good job in India after doing MS from ASU, UC Santa Cruz etc

      Hi sir, getting a job does not depend entirely on University reputation or ranking. For that matter, ASU and UC Santa Cruz are both pretty well regarded universities- I know a lot of my students working at top MNCs after graduating from these Universities. I would suggest to choose the cheapest option among USC, ASU, and UC Sant Cruz considering the current market.

    • @DrRajusConsultancy
      @DrRajusConsultancy  4 місяці тому

      GWU is located in D.C, which is a good location for jobs, but cost-wise, it will be expensive. Both tuition and living will be more than CU Boulder. So, my pick will definitely be CU Boulder- a strong reputation, better CS rankings, and reasonable costs are the highlights. Hope that's helpful. Hello! I got admissions from UTArlington, Saint Louis University and California State University Fullerton in MS Information Systems program. In your opinion which university should I pick after considering everything. I'm leaning towards CSUF. It would be really helpful to know your as well.

    • @DrRajusConsultancy
      @DrRajusConsultancy  3 місяці тому

      Location and quality-wise, CSU F and UT A are better than St Louis. Between CSU F and UT A - I'm personally impressed by the UTA's MS IS program because the curriculum seems more oriented towards providing industrial exposure to students. It helps students secure internships across local industries- so that'll be a great added benefit. Although UT A will be slightly expensive, it can give you better ROI. Please talk to current students from both places and make a decision.
      I've done a video on how to choose between universities; you can check that out as well-

    Hello Sir, I got an offer from IU Bloomington, can you kindly give your thoughts? Because I am literally confused whether to going 2024 as many of my friends and relatives who went there for MS aren't getting any jobs

      IUB is a pretty good university and you will have a nice peer group and environment that will help you in skilling up yourself and applying for jobs. Are you going for IT related course? If yes, then currently the market is not great because of reasons beyond our control, but it will get better by the time you graduate from your course in 2026. If you're ready to be focused and build a good profile while pursuing master's, you'll definitely get a job.
      If you're going for a non-IT field then there's no issues related to jobs.

    • @DrRajusConsultancy
      @DrRajusConsultancy  2 місяці тому

      Depends on what kind of careers you want to pursue- Business analytics is an over crowded space. Unless you have good prior experience, its hard to find jobs. Electrical Engineering is a growing field , especially in Chip design and Manufacturing. Arizona is a hub for electrical engineering jobs. However, employers value strong domain knowledge and unless you developed it during your masters education, you'll have a tough time getting placed. Hope this helps.

      Whether you're a fresher or not what matters most is how skilled you are and can you pass through technical and interviewing rounds of companies. If you're not confident about it, you can pursue job for a couple of years and then go for master's. US has a pretty matured job market and has the highest average pay for CS grads. Yes, the market isn't great but in a couple of years time it'll stabilize. Australia's IT industry is also blossoming- might not be great if you're looking for long-term because senior roles are not paid that great compared to the US (or India ). Data Science and Analytics, both are pretty good courses that give you skills that are in demand currently. However, the competition is also pretty high. You have to ask yourself if you are really passionate about these fields (or pursuing a career in IT) because you need to work hard to find a job and sustain in this market.
      Whether master's in the USA worth it or not is a very personal question- although US is a great place for tech jobs, it also really depends on the individual and what your goals/expectations are. If you need personal guidance, do reach out to us on- +918125322444

For a MIDDLE CLASS STUDENT FROM INDIA, IS IT ADVISABLE TO BE LOOKING FOR UNIVERSITIES LIKE SJSU/CAL POLY, UCAL LONG BEACH, ETC WHERE THERE ARE LOT OF BIOMEDICAL COMPANIES TO LOOK FOR INTERNSHIPS AFTER THE COURSE OR ARE LESS EXPENSIVE STATES LIKE TEXAS AND FLORIDA GOOD FOR THIS COURSE? PLEASE ADVISE WHEN YOUR VALUABLE TIME PERMITS.

      Thanks for your encouraging words!
      Yes, low cost yet good quality universities like SJSU will be good bet for Biomedical students. Because of relatively less students pursuing this masters program, there is high chances of getting Assistantship roles on campus- which will offset living expenses. So I would say if you're really interested in the state of California and the opportunities it provides- you can go for it without spending too much (by funding through on-campus jobs). • @DrRajusConsultancy

      Here's my opinion-
      Both NEU's and UC Boulder's Engineering Management programs offer similar curriculum with enough flexibility to choose a specialized concentration (Finance, Project Management etc). Both Unis are pretty well reputed across the USA.
      The advantage of UC Boulder is the cost- The tuition and Living expenses are both pretty low compared to NEU. The cost of education here will be 2/3rd of NEU's, while offering pretty high-quality of education (Strong and experienced faculty). In such a market condition, especially if you're on a budget, choosing a high-quality lower-cost university will give better ROI.
      NEU's advantage is its location in Boston, surrounded by ample industries. It also offers a CO-OP option. However, considering the heavy competition because of the very large Indian student diaspora in NEU and Boston, the competition to get a CO-OP (internship) is pretty high, and success is uncertain (reports from some of our clients currently studying here).
      Considering the above factors, my suggestion would be to choose UC Boulder's MEM program. The class size will be small, and competition for on-campus jobs will be less. Since it is the best-ranked university in Colorado, finding summer internship and jobs within the state would be easier.

      Option 1- Hang on till the market gets better. After that you can do a 1 year professional master's program. Save up whatever you're earning here (minus day to day costs).
      Option 2- Market will have huge demand for skilled AI/ML professionals in the coming years. So pursue master's in CS and specialize in AI/ML (or build side projects) and then look out for jobs. I would take 2 year programs in this case.
      Whether you go for master's now or later, its clear that having deep understanding on advanced AI topics such as NLP, Computer Vision etc will give you edge.

    Hi Sir, my son got admit in MSCS in Columbia, USC, UMASS Amherst and ms computational science in GAtech.. which one do you advise in current situation from learning and job perspective. Thanks for your suggestion.

    • @DrRajusConsultancy
      @DrRajusConsultancy  2 місяці тому

      All four Universities are pretty good for Computer Science; however, by doing a Cost to Quality analysis, UMass Amherst and GA Tech stand cheaper than the other two. Between them, I'm slightly inclined towards GA Tech's Computational Science and Engineering course purely because of the reputation of "Ga Tech". However, you must understand the difference between the pure MS CS curriculum and the MS Computational Science (CSE) curriculum. A CSE curriculum is more "computation" focused and mathematically rigorous- ideal for computation-based jobs such as Data Scientist, Financial Analyst, etc. It is highly interdisciplinary and also offers coursework in biomed/biotech, meaning you can apply for IT job roles in BioPharma firms as well if that aligns with your interest. There is a rising demand in this niche.
      Whereas, MS CS at UMass Amherst prepares you well for diverse fields within the IT industry, such as SDE roles, data scientist/Engineer roles, ML Engineers, cybersecurity roles, etc.
      If you're aiming for jobs in DS/ML or SDE- Ga Tech and UMass Amherst are both good but Ga Tech will carry a heavier tag on your resume. Hope this helps :)

      Thanks a lot sir. Really appreciate your response. My son already has MTech in data science in IITM.. does GAtech computation science still helps or adds to resume. What about Columbia. Does ivy league and NY location really matter in current market. Is the additional cost really worth in current situation

    • @DrRajusConsultancy
      @DrRajusConsultancy  2 місяці тому

      @@BibhashSaha-kb5et Both the MS CSE of Ga Tech and the MS CS of the rest of Unis have a lot of overlap with an MS DS from IIT-M. Coursework-wise, I don't see if he can learn something very different unless he wants to take up niche electives offered by Ga Tech (many areas to specialize in) and the rest of the Unis. UMass also offers CyberSec specialization- if he's interested in exploring the intersection of CybSec and ML/AI, he could do that here. That's a high-growth potential field.
      As far as the tag of "Ivy League" goes (Columbia), please remember that not all Ivy leagues are good at Computer Science- many non-Ivy leagues (MIT, Stanford, CMU, Ga Teach, UT Austin, UWash, etc) are ranked way better than the Ivy's and hold better reputation for CS/DS. The NYC location will have a slight edge in finding summer internship opportunities, but is that edge worth the 1.5 times price tag? This is a question you should ask yourself. In the current market, I highly recommend spending less.

      About UTD MS in supply chain management: Although the course is expensive, the significant advantage here is the location. Dallas Fortworth region, Houston, and Austin are heavily industrialized, so finding jobs in the Supply Chain field would not be a big hassle. Depending on your prior experience, you'll be initially making around $80-$90K and gradually progressing to $100K+. The con, as you have pointed out, is the cost of UTD. Other great alternatives exist in Texas, like the University of Houston, UT Arlington, etc., where COE is much lower. However, UTD does carry a brand of its own so if that cost is not too much for your financial situation (a pinch and not a punch) then you can go ahead.

      As a relatively low-cost university ($30,000 tuition), CSU LB certainly won't put you in too much of a financial burden, considering the job outcomes of an MIS degree. However, to find jobs, you must be very good at what you're learning and doing during your master's program. One of the typical jobs MIS graduates target is that of Data Engineers/Analysts- so you must have skills, certifications, and projects aligned with these job roles to make job hunting easy for you. If you think you're prepared to put in all the effort to skill-up and find jobs, then I think it's worth taking the risk.

      It is usually viewed as an entry point in to the US job market by majority of international students. However, worthless is a pretty extreme tag- I've known many students who have benefitted from a well rounded MS CS program from a great quality university.

    • @xxxx-tb4de
      @xxxx-tb4de 2 місяці тому

      @@DrRajusConsultancy If doing a MS provides entry to US that is somewhat of a valid reason at a high cost. In USA, in general (especially software) weightage is given to experience (rightly so) and not to education (again PhD is different) in hiring. Most top universities do not normally give admission to terminal MS programs. As you have indicated some may have benefitted doing a MS program mostly in the non-academic side (well rounded) like soft skills, presentation etc.

      @DrRajusConsultancy  2 місяці тому

      Majority of Top 25 CS Unis have terminal MS Degrees - please Cross check with US NEWS rankings. I know of students with phenomenal work-ex from India lauding about the CS education they've received during Master's- these students already had pretty strong soft skills- they benefitted from the hands on application oriented education they've received. When it comes to hiring, I also know of students who got hired right out of Master's (without prior-ex). Yes, past hands-on experience is a direct indicator of success at the workplace, but how do you solve this chicken and egg problem where majority of graduates do not have prior experience and majority of companies look for experience? Master's education in this case has been a pretty good feeder to American IT industry jobs (in more than a few decades) because companies in lieu of prior-experience look for rigour and good quality master's degree has been a pretty strong and successful indicator of rigour.
