Excellent job as always. Best coverage of the sport on UA-cam. Sometimes it is good to hear others say what I thought that the Germans really missed their fullbacks in the last World Cup. This team looks like it s being built for 2027. Eight of the starting eleven will be in their prime years for Brazil.

Gold medal??? Popp is my 3rd favorite player of all time. But no way. You need to be happy with Semi's a best. France, USA or Spain will win. Great podcast. Feel very lucky to get this kind of coverage.
Germany is in our group and presents a major challenge. Germans are excellent at being tall and our defense struggles to defend against height. Between Popp, Nusken and Shuller, I expect Naeher to concede at least 1 headed goal. We will need to outscore them to advance. Luckily, their defenders have been leaking goals for years now (Hendrich being the only legitimate quality defender they have). I think our matchup will hinge on how many set piece opportunities we grant them!
Should be interesting. Our best performance at the World Cup was against a team with significant height and that relies on headers in the box either through set pieces or crosses 🇸🇪. We did pretty well defending that. Will be interesting with the new personnel if that will still be the case. I also remember Naeher really dominating the box in that game. I was siting right behind our goal in the first half and was impressed by her aggression
Iceland whipped Germany today 3-0 in the Euro qualifiers.
Indeed, just finished watching the game! However, Popp & Oberdorf were not used, which highlighted how much Germany relies on those 2 players. Without them, Germany is B-level for sure, and on defense, perhaps even C-level. Finally, to be fair, Germany had already qualified and Iceland was desperate for a win to qualify for the 2025 Euros.
@@eliedabdab4339 One thing that Europeans do is really experiment with their lineups when it is a friendly or a non-essential match like yesterday. There is little wasted time doing send offs like USWNT did with Lloyd and Canada did with Sinclair. Just have a banquet like normal people do. I understand Hayes as saying that she wants to change this culture. Get more players capped.
@@michaelcockayne1246 I agree with you about North Americans wasting minutes on players not in future plans! Re: yesterday's game, I couldn't help but notice that Horst Hrubesh looked disgusted more often than not. 9 of the 11 players used were usual starters and they looked way below par.....
Its unfortunate that Germany underestimates zambia and still is and its gonna cost them....
