Sorry to break it to you, but you are wrong. The highest amount of torque u can get out of those drills is actually in speed one. It's all about gear ratios, highest speed doesn't mean highest torque, actually its the other way round. Same as your manual car, when you are going uphill you shift down to a lower gear to get more torque to wheels. Both of those drills can get those lags in no probs in speed 1. Try it out, you will be surprised. Keep up the good work tho, love the channel!
I mentioned this to someone else who pointed it out, I was not focused when I spoke, and was thinking the opposite, because speed 1 is the slowest speed, and peed 3 is the fastest speed. So I meant to say I wanted to just lower the speed setting, which raises the torque.
@@fatjoecanadian81 Easy to criticize from the peanut gallery. A lot of work goes into creating this content and one video consists of multiple scenes and angles all stitched together so it’s easy to get distracted.
I bought my 996 before the 999 was released, i think maybe 4 years ago, i use it everyday for mixing drywall mud, set on 1. Ive never had a problem with it, mixes without stopping. I used the 6ah battery, once in a while battery died by end of day, but ive 2 batteries so no big deal. Got a 10ah battery for a super price, now never dies. I know dewalt makes a mud mixer, but its a 60v, and heavy, and expensive. No regrets buying the 996.
Jeff, the hammer mode is not for screwing in screws. It is used with a masonry bit for drilling through masonry products. The hammer mode applies downward force in pulses allowing you to drill through masonry with the correct bit. A impact, applies torsional force in pulses, which helps your screw in things. So remember: Hammer - Downwards force (Break) Impact - Torsional Force (screw)
Yes, I've been using hammer mode for years to drill holes for our Tapcons. We play with the drills in many modes during reviews to show people how they react.
The clutch is disengaged when drill mode is selected XR does not mean the motor is brushless, it’s just a marketing gimmick ‘Extreme Runtime’ Speed 3 is the highest speed setting but has the lowest amount of torque
@@jeffostroff --- If I lived in your area I'd let you borrow my Power Detect hammer drill , I got it 2 days before I heard about the FlexVolt Advantage tools...lol...👍🛠🖖
Well according to DeWalt the flexvolt advantage is 1219 unit Watts out and the power detect is only 1050 out so the advantage is going to be way more powerful as the power detect is way more powerful than and 996 at 840 unit watts out. You can definitely tell between the 996 and power detect. I mix concrete with my power detect
Great video! Just had 2 quick comments: 1) Both drills use an electronic clutch. When it “gave up” driving the lag on #11, that was only because it hit its torque cutoff. Would have been interesting to see the lag driven in standard drilling mode. 2) The yellow DCB118 fast charger is actually an 8 A-h charger, not a 3 A-h. Unfortunately, they are actually including a slower charger (6 A-h) with the DCD999. Between that and it being made in China (along with the identical DCF887 that is also included with the DCD996 kit but made in the USA), it was just a little disappointing to see. The only other 8 A-h Dewalt charger is the 4-bank DCB104. The DCB104 will also charge 12-volt MAX batteries, which is extremely versatile and nice on a big fast charging system. Dewalt recently released a new 12 A-h charger (DCB1112), and that is now their fastest charger. It does look like Dewalt has one other new kit combo version of this drill: DCK2100P2 (vs the DCK2100D1T1 tested here). The tools are the same, but they include the faster DCB118 charger and two 5 A-h XR batteries instead of the slower charger, a 2 A-h and a FlexVolt battery. It’s nice they have the faster charger in that kit, but not including the FlexVolt battery kind of defeats the purpose of this new drill…
Looks like the same tool just uprated software. Still a great value because they are giving you a 60v battery, that if needed you could move to the 60v line any time.
Power Detect has a 1070 uwo vs 1200 uwo. Power Detect has a 8 amp charger vs 6 amp charger. And of course comes with a 8ah 20v battery vs 6/2 ah flex volt battery. So on paper you get a better drill on Home Depot, but you get a better charger and battery with (for 20v use) at Lowe’s. Drill speeds are the same with both.
Absolutely, the Power Detect line is a way Better Deal , as of right now the FlexVolt Advantage bare tools are $199.00 each (except the hammer drill kit ) and the Power Detect Kits with battery and charger are $279.00 , I'll pay $79 more for a 8.0ah battery and fast charger all day long....👍🛠🖖
Jeff, thanks to you I just scored a great deal on the 20 volt DCD 996, and 887 impact combo, for $205 at Lowes. It varies in price from store to store. Lowe’s needs to get their stuff together, seriously. A store like an hour and a half from me had it cheaper than my local store, but My local store price matched it. Item no. 607802. Thanks 👍🙏🇺🇸
@@jeffostroff ok, that makes no sense. I’ve been using this model for a few years and always leave it on the most powerful setting. The trigger alone is sensitive enough to allow precise control on delicate things or full on power.
I was mostly goofing around and didn't have time to do a more planned out Test and was a thunder shower blocks away from my house so I was really being rushed and right after I did that scene we had to pack it up so we do plan to revisit this and do more thorough test
Bro @ around 24:50 ish you're drilling lags with the clutch engaged. You do realize you're supposed to bypass the clutch for heavier jobs like that (without going into hammer mode)? Just a bit frustrated when I was watching to visualize the power difference and instead you start comparing identical clutches is all.
I know, we were fighting a thunderstorm blocks away and rushing like crazy did not have time for a proper comparison, I plan to do another video that just tests the 2 drills using the right modes.
XR does not mean its brushless mate. It just stands for extreme run time. XRP (extreme run time and performance) has been round since the NiCad Brushed Platform. Also you would of been better off using drill mode and speed 1 for driving those coach screws (lag screws) in as it has more torque in that setting and no clutch. Would of drove them in easily.
@@jeffostroff yeah because all there new battery gear is brushless now smh.... It had XRP on it when they where brushed NiCad so the gimmicks been round pre brushless gear.
Does the grey battery do anything different on the 999 vs the yellow version? They have the same number if I recall. That's a bigger question as they claiming on an item with the same number. I know the grey has 18650s, and normally the yellows have 21700. Also, can it do that lag drive with a regular 5 or 6 vs the Flex6?
Rotating display stand, very fancy Jeff. Thanks for the review, seems to be a lot of interest in both of these drills right now with the 999 being new and the 996 being clearanced in some kits recently.
The DCD998 Power Detect from Lowes has only been out since May. Here in the states, this DCD999T1 kit is not even on the sales floor yet, I made a stock clerk climb for this one. So hopefully they will be available in the UK soon.
I just bought this kit at the Depot for $199.00 yesterday. But black flex volt battery , same charger , and no bag , so what. The drill feels nice. Haven’t used it yet.
Next time put it in drill mode , it overrides the clutch settings and gives you full torque. As well as doing that you could have put it into lower gear, hammer mode doesn't do anything other than impact for concrete drilling.
Yes I definitely misspoke because the #1 setting is the highest torque, but it is the slowest speed. these Freudian slips can be a bear. Working out in 95 degree heat with 65% humidity really does take a toll on my brain, you should see how many times I have to stop and restate something!
Hey, thanks for the video. What's the name of that hex head bit you were using? General name or specific model, I need this kind of thing, but I don't know the proper English term for that. Thanks!
@@jeffostroff Thank you for the quick reply. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in this case, the adapter was connect to a regular driver (999), right? Because I saw many of these adapters for Impact drivers and I was wondering if I can just use them with a regular driver too.
I enjoy watching your video what you're displaying here make a lots of sense, but what I don't understand at some point of the video you have a regular 20 volts battery on the dcd996...and at some point you a 20 volts flex volts battery,so my question is what battery originally comes with the dcd996
The regular 20 Volt battery comes with that drill when you get it in a kit. I just had the flexvolt battery there I use whatever battery I have within my reach at any given time they all work period if you put a flexvolt battery on it it will treat it as a 20 Volt battery.
All specs seem to be exactly the same for both hammer drills, accept the new DCD999 Flexvolt Advantage hammer drill has 1219 Unit Watts Out compared to my older DCD996 with 820 Unit Watts Out. that extra output power is the only differentiator I could find.
There will be more stuff coming soon, I really needed to rush this one out since it is breaking news on a new tool, and rain really messed up my schedule.
not sure if its been mentioned.. XR.. extra runtime.. i have XR brushed tools. it will always have brushless stamped in the handle when brushless.,, great video buddy.. UK viewer...
it had alot to do with the set up as well that skinny 1/4 socket holder ate up all the torque transfer, had that been a 1/2 inch it likely would not have had a problem.
Very detailed review of the new DCD 999. I would love to see a comparison between this and the power detect, the 996 (old model) and the gen 3 milwaukee. Pieces of advice the hammer drill mode isn’t necessarily the strongest setting of the drill. Only should be used when drill into concrete. For lags into lumber stick to the drill mode only.
Your description’s last line is confusing me, it mentions that the dcd996 delivers 1200 UWO vs 820 UWO on dcd996, these are the same names though.. Can you clarify please? Thanks
Thanks, I'm using the Nikon Z6 camera but the kicker here is the lens for that boceh look, I'm using their newer Z6 50 mm f1.8 lens. It is that f1.8 that gives you that awesome pop on the subject in focus foreground, while the background is blown up. I have the lens set almost all the time at f 1.8 when filming me or closeups of the tools
If you are not going do do really heavy drilling into concrete all the time, then you can get by with the 996. As for Power Detect vs Flexvolt Adavantage, I think they are one and the same, and it boils down to which kit can you get for the best price. Either of these drills will serve you well.
@@jeffostroff Just an fyi the power detect is rated at 1072 uwo and the flexvolt advantage is as you know 1219 uwo other than that i dont think there are any diffrences. Thanks for the quick video
Yes your DCD998 Power Detect drill from Lowes is pretty much the same beast as this DCD999 drill from Home Depot, except the Lowes version is programmed to give extra power on the 8 AH battery only. The DCD999 will give extra power on a Flexvolt battery only.
@@jeffostroff thank you so much for the reply. Do you really think they differ a lot. If I could score a deal with the gen 1 battery and use it on the 999. Would it be too bad of an idea?
Hi Jeff, I'll be interested to see a video using the DCD999 drilling into concrete. Until last week, I've been using my 18v dewalt drill from 2005 and it did a decent job but finally decide to go with the latest and got the DCD999. After trying it out I was surprised that 1) it seemed to drill roughly to the same depth as my 18v and 2) it became extremely hot. Hot enough that it was hard to hold the handle. Really curios if you will have similar experience
to be fair combi drills like this really arent intended for hard materials like concrete or engineering brick, they simply dont have the impact energy, I get that in a pinch it will do the job but you are working the tool hard, better to get a cordless sds, you will have a much better time!
Thank you@@Revenge_of_Ming. Totally valid point. I didn't want to spend the extra bucks for SDS just for 5-6 holes. The reason I expect it to work for "pinch" cases is because there are plenty of videos using the dcd996/8 for concrete but because the 9 is new there aren't any
@@TheBestestX1 dont get me wrong I've an older 996 (with that aweful electronic clutch) and used it once or twice for concrete but even that wouldn't touch engineering brick the sds was only a couple of hundred quid (dcd273) and it eats concrete for breakfast I've actually ran a 25mm drill with it through concrete block it got through with little drama
Only noise similar to that I hear is almost a grinding noise if it is set to hammer mode. That's the hammer action. But in normal drill mode, you should not hear clicking.
Miguel you and I might not notice the difference in power as the RPMs and everything else are the same. But they do say that a Flexvolt battery on this drill should give you more power. I would need to do laboratory controlled testing to probably see the difference academically. I used mine yesterday, in hammer mode takes about 5 seconds to drill through concrete block walls. Takes 15 to 30 seconds in normal drill mode.
@@jeffostroff ok makes sense. I’m a DIY user and I’m two versions behind If I can sell it then I can do the upgrade. I will buy the bare tool option... thank you
Do you keep those red battery shipping toppers? I have seen people dril two small holes in them and then attach them to the bottom of a shelf and use them to hold the batteries in place.
Looks like the DCD999B bare tool $179 and some bundle DCD999BW606C overpriced at $358 USD that looks the same as what is supposed to be like the DCD999T1 kit is up on the HD Website now. There is a Bundle Hammerdrill/Impact Driver Kit also that is In Store only that looks really good for $369 and is known as the DCK2100D1T1 which includes the DCD999T1 contents including the Flexvolt 6Ah battery and DCF887 and 2Ah Compact Battery and 6 Amp charger/bag. Wish the Border was open to drive to the Niagara Falls, NY store. Just noticed the DCD999T1 is up too for $279 and store only it seems. Damn, I have a US Mailbox in Niagara Falls, NY too that cross ships into 2 Toronto Canada locations for pickup and none of the better kits that are online to ship. Hopefully HD Canada stores get them up soon. Although since I already have the Flagship Flexvolt Mitre Saw I could possibly get the bare tool, but don't want to possibly use 1 of the 2 batteries out of that setup and would like a 3rd one overall in the system.

@@jeffostroff OK they are in Canada HD store now. There is a special and the bare tools look expensive at $299 each but for $299 CDN buy the new Flexvolt Battery/Charger for $299 CDN and get the bare tool free. Running there tomorrow morning.

I will post my own little You Tube Video with still shots of the display to help the Canadians out that are looking for the lastest Flexvolt 6Ah battery. I might check another could of Home Depots to see if newer batteries are in the other kits as it seems the battery does not have part number revisions between them.
I agree 100%. There was another video explaining the "differences and similarities" of the two. It appears that this is another marketing Gimmick being played on the consumers by SB&D, in order to satisfy the supposed "exclusive" tool sales deal/contracts they have between the 2 large box stores.
XR on the Dewal totals refers to the motors being brushless which are more efficient and that equals better battery life. The XR line of batteries according to DeWalt will last us last 33% longer than the 20v "max" line of batteries of the same size.
It is actually in stock in many Home Depot stores, but it is up top on the storage shelves in the new product's slash no home section, meaning in the stores it's not really up for sale yet it is not displayed on the floor yet. But as you saw in this video I had a stock clerk go up top and fetch me this brought it to the register and it did ring up and I even used my 10% off Lowe's coupon on it as well. so bottom line is it may or may not be on the floor in your store you may have to look for it up top
I feel like all this dewalt stuff is getting confusing. I don’t understand why Lowe’s and home depot can’t both just sell flex volt. Flex volt works great.
@@Wealth_Wisdom_Discernment it is crazy these days how much variation there is within a brand, like buying a 4K TV there is like 50 models of the same size 65" from a company.
Hello Jeff, I was looking at buying a Dewalt and have been familiarizing myself; checked on their site, a half dozen or so contractors who did videos like yours...then called Dewalt; then HD and Lowes (the reps at the local store were precious little help, some were not sure what Flexvolt is), so finally just stumbled on you, great video, I have subscribed. Donald We are currently telling people not to buy that kit the reason is since I put up that video, Home Depot put up a new Black Friday tool deal involving the flexvolt advantage tool only tools where if you buy one of the tools by itself , they will give you the free flexvolt battery with the charger so now you would only be spending $179 instead of $299 just keep in mind they are giving you the older flexvolt battery free not the newer flexvolt battery which you would get in the kit. Hello again Jeff, That was one quick response. Thanks for for the speedy, educational and certainly helpful response. I had seen your video about the sale (you are holding a store score card) a day or so ago; I am going to watch that later this evening. I flipped through your site’s, “about”, community, playlists, etcetera. This is definitely a good spot for me. DIY, with entertainment, and not the contracting bit. Had I found you sooner I could have binge watched your videos through the FIRST lockdown. Thank you for the advice and great links. I think I will do as you say and do the buy one get one. I can make do with the “old” battery and get the “new” one in a few months when it is then old and on sale. Given this is such a good opportunity with the buy one get one let me bother you one further time...for now. There is much commentary in my recent research that the 999 is the best presently and “blows away” the others, but for smaller jobs perhaps the smaller impact driver (dcf887?) a good idea? One of them said that is the only flexvolt adaptable driver. If so, what other tool would you suggest for that buy one deal? Or would you get the set that is displayed on your video fairly recently where you are standing next to it, I guess in your yard, making the “is this for real” (not sarcastic version) look? Thanks again. I will see you this evening. A few episodes anyway. Best, Donald

Yes and no, manufacturers publish compatibility charts for chargers and batteries. The newer chargers usually have smart software to properly charge older batteries.

This video is in good detail about New Dewalt DCD999T1 Flexvolt Advantage Drill Kit witch replaced the DCD996 and DCD796. My question is: I have the DCD796 and I was thinking to purchase the New DCD999 Flexvolt Drill and Battery. But I noticed that the DCD999 does not have the XR logo on the cordless drill anymore. Does that mean that I will not be able to interchange batteries. Can I put a 6Ah Flex Battery on my DCD796 or DCD996 with out frying the motor? Does XR DCD996 and XR DCD796 use there own XR Batteries up to 6Ah or 8Ah? Does the New DCD999 use only Flexvolt Advantage Battery Technology and a New Air-Cooled Charger designed for Big-Size 6Ah Flex Batteries and up. Also because the motor and whole drill is designed for it. Let me know thank you. Keep up the great work on your tool videos.
The DCD999 works with all my batteries, don't get too hung up about the logo missing. You can use a Flexvolt battery on your drill too, it just will act as a 20V battery, that is why they call it Flexvolt. It can be a 20V battery or a 60V battery depending how the tool is keyed.
I assume all the tools are made in China unless it specifically states on the box made in USA, but even then they have an* in it usually says made with globally sourced parts.

In New Zealand we have 18V and 54V flexvolt tool to instead of 20V and 60V flexvolt and I’m assuming that they are almost the exact same except the amount of Volts on the American tools may have a little bit more power.. Do you know why there is a difference????
The 20v batteries are no load, they really produce 18V under load. Likewise our 60v flexvolt batteries likely put out 54V, that's the only thing I can think of.
In the US, the general convention is that 18v were for nicad batteries and 20v are lithium. The difference is really marketing. It prevents people from buying lithium batteries thinking they can charge them with a nicad charger. (which is a no-no) The mounting system and chargers are not compatible, so it basically prevents misunderstanding when buying them. Nicads are obsolete now. But the original idea hangs on.
Truth in advertising, you have it, the USA does not. Milwaukee actually owns all rights to lithium modular batteries (or so they say) , they have sued everyone over the years and renewed patents, and all settled out of court with Mikwaukee (man if I just had a dollar for each battery sold right?) ... One of which I read a few years back that 18v would be exclusive to Milwaukee and TTI...

So remember:
Hammer - Downwards force (Break)
Impact - Torsional Force (screw)
Yes, I've been using hammer mode for years to drill holes for our Tapcons. We play with the drills in many modes during reviews to show people how they react.
I got it from Home Depot yesterday as a kit.

@Sean Saca I figured you have to need some project farm type mechanical engineering equipment to be able to measure the power output and torque
Just had 2 quick comments:
1) Both drills use an electronic clutch.
Yes, I want to do more testing with this drill
I actually bought the other kit. I didn't want the big flexvolt battery. I didn't really want the big drill but I did want the carbide jaws.
Looks like the same tool just uprated software. Still a great value because they are giving you a 60v battery, that if needed you could move to the 60v line any time.
Yes, this is the third flexvolt battery I have acquired with the kits
Power Detect has a 1070 uwo vs 1200 uwo.
Power Detect has a 8 amp charger vs 6 amp charger.
And of course comes with a 8ah 20v battery vs 6/2 ah flex volt battery.
So on paper you get a better drill on Home Depot, but you get a better charger and battery with (for 20v use) at Lowe’s.
Drill speeds are the same with both.
They really blurred the lines on this one!

The regular 20 Volt battery comes with that drill when you get it in a kit. I just had the flexvolt battery there I use whatever battery I have within my reach at any given time they all work period if you put a flexvolt battery on it it will treat it as a 20 Volt battery.

Hi Jeff,
I'll be interested to see a video using the DCD999 drilling into concrete.
Yes, I hope to record more tests soon
to be fair combi drills like this really arent intended for hard materials like concrete or engineering brick, they simply dont have the impact energy, I get that in a pinch it will do the job but you are working the tool hard, better to get a cordless sds, you will have a much better time!

Best,
Donald
I have that table I love it😎
I am using mine now at my friend's kitchen remodel
@@jeffostroff I use mine for everything to work on my truck and when I do any fence jobs🙌
Excellent explanation in detail! Very clear visible eye view! Description detail orientation A++. From opening box all the way through the end. All other statements from others are helpful for learning from the field of hard working cordless Rotary to Hammer to Impact to Drilling of all Metal and Wood applications. Five Star ***** Video! keep going.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Remember, ONLY USE the charger and battery that came in the kit together. You can actually damage your lower end batteries when using the super/rapid chargers.
Yes and no, manufacturers publish compatibility charts for chargers and batteries. The newer chargers usually have smart software to properly charge older batteries.
I'll have to pull up specs on the charger and see what it says I can't imagine dewalt would risk killing people's batteries. I bet all of these chargers know what battery is attached and charge accordingly
@@jeffostroff Mostly, yes. But I noticed in manuals for chargers they make a big deal about this. This applies for older chargers. Newer ones are automatic.
see the last page for a chart.

@@jeffostroff That is hilarious, that you would think a battery company doesn't want to harm batteries so that they can sell more batteries.
@@firesurfer Even the Milwaukee battery engineer, you know, the guy that designs and builds the batteries and chargers adamantly stressed that the older and lower Ah batteries are NOT supposed to be charged on the newer or faster chargers, as it will greatly reduce the battery performance and lifespan. This goes for all Lithium Ion batteries, since well, Milwaukee is the one that designed these batteries and has the patent and receives money from all of the cordless tool companies that uses this technology.
I'll find the in depth video and post a link.
This is a 20v tool, not a FlexVolt tool. So yes, it can use a 20v battery.
And ‘Advantage’ Line are 20v tools that take advantage of the Flexvolt batteries. Which is how they get their name.
I figured it out b/c the 60v FlexVolt Circular saw is more powerful than the 20v Flex Advantage Saw.
This kit was on sale for $199. I regret not buying it.
I thought the specs were the same on the Flexvolt saw and the advantage saw.
@@jeffostroff I’m sure there are similarities. The DCS578 spins at 5800, and the
DCS573 spins at 5500.-Edit to correct rpm
@@chaselesser3191 My Flexvolt DCS575 spins at 5800. Every spec I had looked at last year was the same between my Flexvolt and the flex advtantage, so I can't tell why they say there is increased power
@@jeffostroff Oh. You have the DCS575.
DCS578-60v@2400 Watts, 5800RPM
DCS575-60v@1600 Watts, 5800RPM
DCS573-20v@1600 Watts, 5500RPM
DCS570-20v@ 900 Watts, 5500RPM
The Advantage compares the 20v DCS570, and claims 77% more over it=1600watts
The DCS578 compares the DCS575, and claims 47% more over it=2400watts
The difference of power between the two drills is more noticeable if you use the leverage handle. Tool was getting away from you, costing you time.
Correct
The 6amp battery is upgraded to 21700 cells you probably won't get the same power using your old 6amp battery with 18650 cells
That's what we need to find out from Dewalt, they said it works with Flexvolt batteries
Actually gear 1 is the strongest and 3 is the weakest... ur sayin opposite
Yup, I was so hot, bothered, and tired that night, it's amazing I finished the video, and a storm was rolling in on me
Which is better Milwaukee Drill or Dewalt Drill
I have drills and impacts from both and they both work well for me. I would go with the lightest most compact models.
Do you know are all the 999 series made in China.
I assume all the tools are made in China unless it specifically states on the box made in USA, but even then they have an* in it usually says made with globally sourced parts.
Thumbs down can’t even bounce around the vid without having to watch two ads every time I skip around. Lower your ad settings bro
That's all in UA-cam's control.
I'm getting ready to Buy a New Drill and a New 1/4" Driver also. Buy any chance do they make or gonna be making a Flexvolt DCD999T1 type 1/4" driver? I shore do enjoy your video's.....👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I have not heard them mention if there is going to be flexvolt advantage version of the impact driver.
@@jeffostroff 0K, Thanks
on step 3 its high speed and low torque not high torque, if you tuo on step 1 its low speed but high torque
Correct
I'm seeing what I think is a deal on the Dewalt DCD792B cordless drill with BT connect for $88 I just can' t seem to find any sold reviews on it to compare it to the DCD991B for over $100 to know which is a all around better drill ?
Wish it came in all black, red dot sight and laser :D
and a silencer!
Likewise our 60v flexvolt batteries likely put out 54V, that's the only thing I can think of.
jeffostroff oh ok, so they both produce 18v and 54v but they just say 20v and 60v
Here is a sample article I am sure you can find more as it is an ongoing issue...www.jlconline.com/products-tools/power-tools/milwaukee-claims-exclusive-right-to-make-lithium-ion-tools_o
@@thetoolmat8632 This sounds like a typical BS lawsuit by company lawyers. This sort of stuff goes on endlessly. Bunch of nothing in the end.
" The legal battle over who has the right to produce Lithium-Ion tools has been going on since at least 2009 and two companies we know of, Hitachi and Makita, have already settled. Milwaukee was able to cut deals with those companies so it seems possible the same might happen with the 8 companies now being sued.'

does the 999 work with regular XR batteries or is it only compatible with Flexvolt batteries?
It works with all of them, but if you put a flexvolt on there, it gives you more power
Made in China kills it. I know a lot of those global parts come from China for the other drills, but at least Americans are employed to put them together.
They do have other kits that are assembled in USA
Sooooo its the 999 a slight downgrade of the 998? I'm not nocking it down or anything its just what it looks like to me
I think the 999 and 998 are the same thing
Whether it's different or not to the DCD998, I see this prettier than the power detect one
I tis a beautiful drill
With the Flex Volt Advantage drill can you use regular XR batteries or only Flex Volt?
You can use any battery, but they claim with the Flexvolt it can offer up additional power.
Hey Jeff
I still haven’t been able to confirm what those ridiculous date codes are? Did you have a chance to try one of the newer 21700 cells XR 6.0 in the power detect drill? I know it ships and works with the 8.0, but I’m curious about the newer 6.0 batteries? Those are great batteries! I don’t have the Power Detect drill to test. Thanks! Again, great Video stream last night, and it was great to be viewing along with everyone. 😁
I have not acquired a 998 drill yet
damn, here in EU you pay nearly 400 bucks for 2x 6Ah Flexvolt and a charger
None of my flexvolt tools have XR on them they're the best tools you can get
I love my flexvolts
NEW One...! 👍👍👍
Now I have to go buy the BlueTooth Tool Connect chip.
He doesn’t know but crap to use so amazing tools
what is for the numbers 1-11 ?
It's the same spec with Power Detect, both using the same 21700 cells 🤔🤔🤔
Yup, same stuff, different skin
