Few question- how much ground clearance do you have and also is there any underside protection? Looks like to didn’t need it for that course but is it in case I ever find anything out in the dirt I am protected lol
What was the offset on the wheels? My friend and I intend to share wheels (one set gravel one set tarmac) and I need to know if the 15”s will clear the brakes on the MS3
The offset was +40mm I believe. The 15s are very tight. I would say it's definitely wheel dependent but for these specifically I had to die-grind a piece of the caliper casting to clear the wheel - not a crucial area structurally but too close for comfort. Long term I might downsize the front brakes to a Mazda3 system or something else that I won't need to think about.
@@DirtyElbowsGaragedid you have to increase the length of any of the suspension components? Trailing arms, endlinks, rear lower control arms? How was your suspension geometry after you did the lift? I’ve seen about 2 other people lift this platform and I haven’t seen anyone say anything about it?
All components were kept the same and I only lifted the height by 1/2". With that height change all the links still worked as intended and as far as geometry goes, I didn't build a full model of the cars suspension to verify it, but I imagine I shortened the roll moment by the tiny bit of lift. My thoughts are that this platform has a ton of potential - especially refined which my setup is nowhere near yet. Mazda knows chassis design and balance and it's amplified in a rally setting.
Love to see the RallySpeed 3 coming together and performing so well and a chef's kiss to that wheel-tire combo 🤌. Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!

Are you keeping it front wheel drive?
Dude, when are you going to finish the mid engine car??
It's gonna be a while before it's done, but the next video is about it and I've been gathering a ton of parts for it.
@DirtyElbowsGarage I want to see how you do the shifting rods/cables. I'm so excited for the next video!!
