      I think there was something more subtle and useful in #12. And that's that there are clues to the future in the government's actions. In hind-sight I can definitely see this over the course of my 6 decades. The goverrnment seems to love to use crises (I almost said, create, but let's go with use) to gain more power over their citizens.

      There is also the apocryphal book of Tobit. Its possibly one of the most ancient of the books, significant historically also because it was written prior to the enslavement in Babylon and gives some fascinating historical details. This book explains a number of points about these 12 subjects, culminating in the sermon by the Angel Raphael to give to charity. It is most popular for the parts where the Angel Raphael binds Asmodeus, however LOL

    I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. I'm surprised you didn't mention Ephesians 4:28 "Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their hands, that they may have something to share with those in need." (NIV) This was so profound to me when I read it. I had bought that lie that Jesus was a socialist and required us to live a life of poverty, giving everything we have to the poor. But in reality He wants us to live a life of such abundance that we are overflowing with wealth to share. That and the Parable of the Talents really made me change the way I look at God's plan for me and building wealth.

    The fascinating thing about tithes, is the only recorded ones are:
    1. Every three years you give a tenth to the storehouse for the Levite, the fatherless, and the widow. So an effective charity rate of 3.3%. Numbers 18
    2. Every year you take a tenth and bring it to Jerusalem and eat it in a giant party (10% of your yearly gain in one party!). Make sure to include the fatherless, widows, etc. Deut. 14
    3. Priests should also be required to tithe (presumably the every year party tithe). Deut. 26:12-13
    So, the only annual tithe was for the mega party. This blew me away when I first studied tithing. Not at all what I'd grown up being taught.
    It's also interesting that, in I Samuel 8, Samuel tells the Israelites that the king will take so much that they will be considered slaves. The amount the king will take? A tenth. 🤔 Not even God takes so much.

    • @HuFlungDung2
      @HuFlungDung2 3 місяці тому +3

      The tithe was actually derived from the increase in your crops and herds, God provided the increase. Your labor was not subject to tithe, because labor doesn't represent increase necessarily.

    • @palookakj6622
      @palookakj6622 3 місяці тому +7

      @@HuFlungDung2yes, the tithe is from profits, not income. If you have debt, you should not tithe until the debt is paid.
      Another thing many people get wrong is that the tithe should be distributed in an order. It is not just an amount to give to a church or religious group. It should first go to helping your family, then others around you. If those things are taken care of, then LASTLY you give to the religious institution.

      Yep this is why I sometimes say that we are akin to slaves. Some people (especially old people) get irritated when they hear that, as they mistakenly think that I am implying that I'm ungrateful or just don't wanna work (I work my ass off nonstop for the past 19 yrs). The word "slave" is such a touchy word nowadays due to it having connotations with race and abuse and whatnot, so people (especially boomers who got to experience the "American dream" and whose money was worth 3-4x more than ours today) get flustered when they hear the word "slave". But it's just a word. It means the fruits of your production are not entirely yours to keep. In USA, we get taxed about 30 different ways, and on top of that, we also have our fiat currency constantly devalued by the continuous money creation being done by the Fed. We're losing at MINIMUM 20% of the fruits of our labor every year, if not closer to 50% when everything is taken into account, and that's not even including inflation. The Israelites were losing 20% and were considered slaves. So most of us in USA (and just about every other country really) are, by definition, slaves. Interestingly, our forefathers who fought the Revolutionary War did so over a measly 1-3% taxation. That was enough to make them feel like slaves back in the day and take up arms over it. And here we are being taxed well over ten times that amount. Just think of it. Lol.

    • @user-oq7bt5do8k
      @user-oq7bt5do8k 3 місяці тому +9

      Actually, the debasement rate of the $ is averaging 15%/yr. But it dropped 25% in the last 4yrs alone. Slavery is happening. But now people sign up for it willingly. They're/ you're willing to be a slave(s) to a paycheck. Exchanging hours of their/ your lifetime(s) for a weakening fiat currency. I pray you start exchanging as much of that as you can into a hard asset, like BTC, so you can start buying back your time. It's the only way out. Otherwise, your future will look a whole lot like the Israelites under Pharoah. Gov owned and controlled everything. Communism. And yes, a revolution will have to stop it if we can't take back control peacefully.

    • @509Smoker
      @509Smoker 9 днів тому

      @@Eaves.T I watched the video. There are several interpretive errors occurring: For example the video is framed that the Hebrews are good with money, etc. You can read about this at the beginning of Deu 28. There is a promise given to either bless or to curse, depending on if they walk w/ the LORD. They do not, thus it would be a curse.
      Another example is #7 @ 12:00 min mark and uses Matthew 25:14-30. Here he makes the point to explain what a talent means. The problem is he goes further and states: "Just so there is no confusion on what this story means." He's not wrong that the word "talent" is a form of currency and trade. HOWEVER, this is a parable and its important to understand why that's important.
      In Matthew 13:1-10, He speaks to the multitudes in parables and His disciples ask Him why He was doing this. He answers regarding the purpose, and for the rest of the chapter He defines it through interpretation over and over again. Long story short, a parable is NOT to be understood literally. Through parables is how He reveals the mysteries of the kingdom to those who have ears to hear it. Jesus is using figurative language. The parable that Jesus is speaking about here, is about Himself. He is the one going on a trip. The wicked servant alludes to this in Mat 25:24, which points back to Mat 13.
      Furthermore, the message this video promotes makes a contradiction of what Jesus spoke plainly. Its the basis of the comment I wrote regarding Mat 6:19-24.
      "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
