I used to buy both, they were about 5p in the 70s! I also bought the Beezer, Topper, Buster & Monster Fun, Cheeky, Look In & Whizzer & Chips amongst others. I collect them now for nostalgic purposes.
Ah lol- I was with you on the Dandy, up until the Jocks and the Geordies- they were actually before my time, but in some of these flashback books and comics, I liked them
I didn't mind the Snobs and the Slobs (like above, they were before my time)- and I liked Bully Beef and Chips, although, I think the difference with it and Dennis the Menace was that Beefy wasn't meant to be likeable, and Chips was, whereas on the whole, I felt like it was the opposite with Dennis and Walter
I was the opposite; I got delivered the Dandy and my brother the Beano. I was loyal to The Dandy but deep down I preferred the Beano. Here were some exceptions though: Desperate Dan, Brain Duane, Banana Man, Sneaker. These were the stand out characters for me (I thought Jocks vs Geordies was good though! Two separate schools physically fighting each other!)
As a kid I loved both comics…Desperate Dan and Corky the cat were the pride of the Dandy…Overall though like you say Beano had the better roster and Dennis and Gnasher take the win for me.
The Beano was better IMO. The Dandy seemed to have a lot of rather unfunny dated strips like 'Little Plum' etc and I always thought Desperate Dan was a bit stupid the way it mixed the Wild West with a Scottish provincial town!
@@myrandomhobbies1099 I Don’t Know, modern dandy is very hard to find. I have quite a few modern dandies, though. Maybe I could send you some pictures?
Beano for me 👍
100%

I agree with most of this (up to 3:43)- but I liked Billy Whizz and I didn't like Calamity James, because I felt bad for him really
And I didn't like Babyface Finlayson at all
Calamity James was a miserable read sometimes, the art was so gross looking and the poor kid had such a hard time
@@theashtubereviews Yeah, exactly
Liked both equally, but you couldn't go wrong with The Victor.
Beano was definitely better. I was a member of both the pie eaters club and the fang club tho
Growing up I read the Beano more then the Dandy I did read the Dandy sometimes and always found it really weird compared to the Beano.
The Beano today is very different. I just bought the 85th anniversary edition and am sad to report the content was not good
I was the same, The Dandy just felt off compared to the Beano
Well the Beano is Britain's number 1 comic.

Definitely agree about Banana Man. I believe Banana Man is now part of the Beano
@@myrandomhobbies1099 Yeah he is, it’s a shame Desperate Dan didn’t make the cut 😥

Beano is woke as hell, now
I think beano because dandy only has specials now I can only get the beano

I agree with you
Little Plum was in the Beano
Beano all the way!
Totally agree but maybe I am biased
your right the beano is the best where does he order them from ?
Ordered from eBay
@@myrandomhobbies1099 same
i do
Modern dandy is better
Will have to check it out. Perhaps compare both modern Dandy and Beano

Dandy was lame!
