I saw this in our local WH Smith a month or so ago and was swithering on whether to buy it or not since it was sealed. But, the second you pulled out the replica fan club wallet and badges, I headed straight to DC Thomson's website and placed an order. Thanks for a great vlog!
The interesting thing I found about by the beano parody in Oink was that it was drawn by one of the Beano artists. John Geering who did Smudge for the Beano as well as characters in other DC Thomson comics suc as Bananaman and Dogsbody. I only started reading Oink yesterday with the Oink book 1988. It actually made me laugh out loud. Its brilliant although a bit hit and miss at times. Maybe thats because I was born after the comic had ended and just dont get the parodies.
It holds up remarkably well and for those of us of a certain age it still works perfectly today! 😂👍 Yes, and John would also draw Tom's Toe, a parody of the strips he was drawing for Whizzer and Chips. What a scoop for the OiNK team!
Its an incredible set, I just wish the beanos from each decade were a bit more noteworthy. The 80s with missing gnasher was a good inclusion. The 1000 issue would have been nice as that is hard to find
Thanks Ashley! This was for the old blog site so the new one doesn't have the Beano content. Not yet anyway, but this video seems to always get viewers so maybe I should get the write-ups copied over.

Thanks very much! I've only done a couple of video, mainly I just write on the blog itself, but this deserved a little extra special treatment.
Photos at 3:56 of Mark Hamill reading the Beano, both in 1980 and much more recent! Nice!
I'll always love the beano, used to get it every week growing up.
