everyone complaining about the tutorial... I think this is perfect for some people. It gets right to the point. most videos spend too much time explaining a bunch of simple stuff that should ALREADY be known before attempting a song.
Wow, First he writes and figures out the music and then he's generous enough to take the time to share it with the world. Very Nice! This something we can all appreciate.
I'm learning by myself and this is actually helpful. I'm a newbie on piano so I pause and rewind a lot but it helps. When you want to learn, the only thing that could stand in your way is yourself.
I remember the first time i heard 3 Libras.. I started calling friends telling them to get on MTV2 and wait for it. Then i tried to play it, but could'nt figure it out. This was the only tutorial when i looked on tube, and i learned most of it back then about 2 1/2 years ago. Now im happy to say that ive put in a few years gigging hard , and we will be playing it live very soon. Thanks Adam.
Taking drum lessons helps a lot. Def improved my abilities across the board whether it be piano, guitar, vocal, etc...plus drums are fun as hell to play!
I don't know what all the people are complaining about. This is a great video allowing you to see the notes he's playing and the hand position. You can tab or write sheet music from this video. UA-cam has this great function where it allows you to slow down the video if you need too, try it out.
I can't even begin to put into words how much you just made my entire life by posting this. I've been trying to learn this song forever. Seriously. I could just hug you if you weren't on the Internet. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I still fell this is the best piano interpretation of this song, by far. The moment from 2:22 is a world by itself, and I think I put a lot of energy and time in piano, over years, because of this specific musical moment you gave us, regardless of the camera/record etc... Thanks for onboarding me on the piano train man.
you're really amazing, you learn us how to play like you .. there isn't no words for expressing you how grateful are we. really thank you i love youuuu and i love all that you do. greetings from colombia
im a student at Sam Houston State University in texas and i am writing a arrangement of this song..u basically inspired me to do so..its a 3 part piece..piano, acoustic guitar, and violin..once i have everything written im going to have it performed in front of a live audience and have it recorded..i will put it on youtube and hopefully you will see it..ill also put up the sheet music since i know u said u had a problem with writing in one of your other vids..this vid helped a lot when writing!!
wahhhhhhhhhhhh This makes me so happy. I was trying to make a backing track for my vocals lessons you totally sorted me out. Cheers sire! Hope you are happy as I am about the APC reformation!! much respect. ian
Yeah I'm gonna be real busy from here on out. Wish I could help you guys out with this. If i get some free time I'll see what i can do. All the best Adam
You are so talented. And I'm glad you posted a tutorial. It sounds correct, unlike the others I've watched. I'm kind of having trouble keeping up on some parts, though. Whenever you're doing the chord switch (during the verse), it goes really fast. Would you please list the chords so I could figure it out? It would be very much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work. :)
Yeah... I agree. This sounds phenomenal, and I've already learned the first two parts, but as soon as the key changes, I can't keep up with what you're doing. You should repost a video of you playing it slowly, or break it down part by part or something. Congrats, though. This is amazing.
Please make a really slow one, pleeeeeeease....I tried hard with this one and watched it many, many times, but no way I can figure it out. (And I played piano for 5 years) If someone, ANYONE, knows how to play this PLEASE MAKE A really slow, boring TUTORIAL. Adam, thanks for sharing! This really means a lot, you are awesome!
Your skills as a piano player are there. You fall short as a tutorial creator. Slow down, break it up, Rinse, repeat. A+ to r the skill. C- for your "teaching" method/lighting/camera clarity. Ty for sharing your ability to play though.
Agree with you 100%. This was a video I posted many years ago and there's a lot about it that could be improved. There are many other tutorial channels on UA-cam now that do it better. If I ever post a tutorial again I will have to step it up. Appreciate the feedback!
Beautifully executed. I'm getting back to playing piano dammit! And i think this shall be one of my first to learn. I can't believe i keep having these years in between when i just give up playing. This last time it was severe hearing loss. :( Well, fuck it! Thanks for being one of three people who inspired me recently (mainly that beautiful rendition of Lateralis i just saw). :)
Its very cool, you have a lot of creativity and afinity for this kind of music.. can you give a lesson of how to sing like that??? hehe You Rock man. This video is perfectly understantdable if you are a pianist... its easy-medium level. Regardz.
i really love this song! & the way you play it. I would be really grateful, if you could play it slower, or showing better the notes you play. Really thanks! & congratulations!
I love the arrangement, but could we get a breakdown of the chorus, bridge and coda movement patterns? it's a bit hard to pick out with your deft movements
@blazefiles Picking up a book on basic piano theory will help in understanding what he is getting at quite a bit. A book mapping out chords couldn't hurt either.
I get everything until the key change, but I get lost after then. I understand that it goes from AM to BM then to c#m, but there's too much going on to be able to figure out. I know you're not just playing root position chords in the bass. Help?
heheh...I know. seems that the general consensus is i went a little to fast in this one. I'm on tour now with Ashes Divide but I promise I'll post another and clear it up when I get some time. Adam
Piano parts like what he's playing from 1:34 onward would take a longer time to explain than for a viewer to just pick up by watching; he's basically playing a root, fifth, and octave in the left hand and a triad in the right. Pretty straight-ahead rock stuff, but a cool chord progression nonetheless. I definitely wouldn't bother trying to take the time to explain that stuff :)
He's not bad. I got it right away. Maybe starting with the wrong peice if this seems hard. No offence. It was pretty straight up. I just paused it on the chords that I had trouble with and followed it that way. Not a simple peice by any means but its not rocket science. Why gun on the guy?
I only play the piano a little bit, mostly the guitar. But I can make the song out of this video easily, clearly the people complaining have no clue about any music theory or they are trying to learn something out of their league.
@@monroe12478 Thanks so much for that information. I was looking at Yamaha and Roland ones today. If you can recommend any for a beginner who sings also that would be really helpful. There's sooooooo many to choose from!! How do you chose just one lol

Great Adam, I'm very very glad you put this tutorial up.
the placement of the minor keys is what creates a haunting effect, without them we'd have nothing but happy corny music
Thank You Monroe!
Can't wait to start learning it
