One thing I've been doing lately with macros: I have the macro set to control the mix of the distortion from zero to fully wet. But since it does add quite a bit of volume depending on the drive, I'll map the macro to either the drive or the master volume with a negative value for the modulation. So as the macro/distortion mix goes up, something else in the signal chain goes down slightly to compensate.
“I’m gonna go up one octave.” I literally rewound like 6x trying to see a change. Oh you meant you were going to play up an octave. The statement along with perceived clicking had me perplexed. I didn’t see anything change. 😅

It sounds like a lot of the same concepts apply to that sound as well: filtering out everything but the upper middle register and some slow vibrato. I would just add in some tape hiss or just some band-passed white noise for the fuzz.
