      I think what it has is some post processing distortion, as well as it being blended in with a light noise atmosphere.
      It's not really valuable, IMO, for the actual lead synth sound in this occasion to itself have the noise baked in.
      Hearing it again, I think it probably has some tape processing for a flutter and wow effect, as well as the distortion. It might also be used for compression. The heavy compression on the bus that includes the piano, the synth and the vocal sighs (that I'm guessing are phone recordigs because Fred again) is what makes the noise, specifically how the heavy compression brings the noise floor very high (though the dynamics are still there enough that the noise is near imperceptible with some louder exceptions).

    If you temporarily enabled both tracks, you could side-chain one of them into SPAN and have the two distributions overlayed in the same plot. 🫡

    Can you explain what you did at 9:39? I know you are in the wavetable editor, and are raising harmonics, but what are those bars that you are raising and how do i know which ones to raise?

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  10 місяців тому +2

      Those bars are harmonics and I'm raising the 1st and 3rd ones because I noticed they were louder in the reference track.
      I explain using wavetables for "additive" synthesis in this video if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/4pU5eNmVCxQ/v-deo.htmlsi=jsjbzseeRY4sHmlU
      I also explain a little more in my steel drum tutorial.

    Earlier I tried to make a recreation of a triangle sample in FL Studio for practice and followed your steps, but found the harmonic series didn't match up with any note:
    The highest points were G#6, G7, F8 and C9. This sample's base note is C5, and the pattern is consistent. However, no notes I seem to play, even accounting for the proper dynamics, seem to correspond to this pattern.
    Is there something I'm misunderstanding here?

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  9 місяців тому +1

      Check out my physical modeling tutorial I just released. I would use the spectral compressor to separate the tone and transient. Then make a wavetable out of the tone. If it has inharmonics, you’ll need to set the wavetable size extremely big, then pitch down the oscillator. I’ll make a video about it sometime soon.

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  2 місяці тому +1

      It can apply to drum sounds too. Though an acoustic drum sound is a lot trickier to synthesize. It can be easier to find a similar-sounding drum sample and process that to sound more similar.

    Hello Please can you create the argy aria bass sound design please

  • @VelenZaiga
    @VelenZaiga 8 місяців тому

    I suppose I have one more question.
    How do you pick out what is the best base wavetable (or sound type/wave type) to use to recreate a sound.
    I listen to sounds and I find I have a hard time picking out the base wave...

    • @VelenZaiga
      @VelenZaiga 8 місяців тому

      One other, does Gaudio and Spleeter work with songs that do not have lyrics?

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  8 місяців тому

      If the sound is harmonically rich, I start with a saw wave and subtract from there. If it’s more simple or has lots of inharmonics, I may start with a sine wave and add from there.
      Square and triangle waves are useful for synthesized sounds with only/mostly odd-ordered harmonics.

    Would this method work for heavily fistorted/saturated sounds like synths from Bring Me The Horizon?

    • @EricBowman
      @EricBowman  10 місяців тому

      Yeah it works for any sound. It can be harder to pinpoint what the waveform was before heavy distortion but if you listen for certain harmonics popping out, that can help.
