I was a Millwright for 25 years and I think they can do most anything needed! From welding to steel fab an machine repair and moving x ray and all types of scanners, C&C etc,etc
When people ask me what I do, I just kinda lock up because I don't know how to explain it and make it simple lol. It's such a wide range of skills. Glad you understand bro!
I used to be a millwright at an osb Mill. I think the press weighed around a million pounds and was heated to 400 degrees. It pressed 12 sheets of osb 8x24 ft at once. Took it like 2 days to completely cool down for serious repairs.
That’s something I wish I got to see a lot more of. I was always fascinated with all that stuff from the function of the individual machines to the entire system. 10:37 sometimes with pins like that you can hook an air line up to the grease ports so the pin goes in on a cushion of air. Some cranes and drill rigs are like that. Those presses must have some crazy tolerances to function with those seals like that.
What's up bro! An air bearing is a great idea. Would be pretty easy to do on these presses. It's amazing they ran as well as they did. They were heavily abused
Glad to hear from you. I knew you said that you would be working at the plant until June or July. Hope your enjoying the Camaro! It's a nice ride! Can't wait to see you and Jimmy doing some dirt work. You definitely need to get brakes on the haul truck before you put Jimmy in it! 😂 Be Safe Out There!
Hey Jim! Good to hear from you. I got to enjoy it about a week. Been in the body shop for some touch ups. We definitely got to fix the brakes on the A30. She don't stop! Lol
29:50 I’m the same way with stepping back and letting someone else do it and never really learned how relinquish control. I want things done a particular way but I have no problem doing something the way someone else wants it even though I might not want it that way.
Just ran across your channel. I have been a millwright for the last 42 years doing this exact type of work. Every job has it's own unique set of requirements / circumstances. For someone to armchair quarterback this type of work proves they should just be quiet and watch. The last machine I installed weighed 98 tons. You are doing great work most people will never understand the complexity of the work. Great Video you have a new Subscriber.
@bob-the-Millwright man that means a lot. I know you understand what all can go on in a job like this. I wish I could show more of what I do. Thanks for subscribing brother
Good to hear from ya Lindsey , that was pretty awsome......iam impressed, iam around a lot of big machines at my job too, we usually hire a rigging company to do the heavy lifting, then our maintainance crew does the repair....looks like you do it all...nice! thanks for the update, i can watch dirt work , or machine repair...its all interesting to me, take care bud and see you soon....John NC

Good to hear from you. Looks like you are heading in the right direction. Glad you are doing well. God bless and good luck going forward. I like somebody that is meticulous with there work.
Man Lindsey it's great to see a new video from you. It was even better to see you having your dad working with you. Of course I really enjoy watching your dirt working content but that was really cool seeing the other side of what you do as well. I hope you and your family had a great 4th of July and a really blessed and wonderful rest of the year. God bless y'all
This gives me some great insight to U! I never really understood your channel, but now it gives me a while new prospective! It's a shame alot of these factories are closing in America
Inside micrometer, missed you brother! Our shop was a machine shop and I worked in the fabrication shop for 37 years! Our shop did a lot of papermill work which was machine work!
Love watching you on the machines. Check every day to see if you have put something on. Love your channel. Fond regards from Land of the Prince Bishops Co Durham UK. Regards to you and family
Good to hear from again. I was starting to wonder if we'd here from you again. Anyway that press work looks real interesting to me. As far as running crews I've run a lot of them and they're all different. You'll learn a lot of tricks to doing that, but it comes with practice. It depends on how good your people are. Let them do the job for you and maybe guide them a little bit. Anyway, good to hear from you again brother.
Having been a licensed contractor for almost 30 years now, you showed me things I've never seen before. It's always good to go where the money is and make it. Your not afraid of hard work or getting dirty, just because some of us talk with a twang don't mean we're stupid and have a old still out back. Looking forward to the video. Great work as always Buddy. 👍
Brother,we have missed you,I love all your content you show us how it is,what your doing,I hope you get a shitload of more vids for us,do you ever get to bid any kind of tiling jobs or no? Just wondered,it was very interesting on those press machines, man there is alot to that kind of work, and to know what your doing,I'll drink a big cup of coffee for ya brother see ya on your next vids, remember God has your back.
Glad to see you making videos again, maybe they can stamp you out a new custom dang-dang whovel for track cleaning. Good to see a glimpse of the other side of the business.
My Grandpa was a millwright. He got started during WW2 converting automotive plants to support the war effort. Hardly a day goes by that I don't ask myself "what would Pa do?". I have a keyboard job. But if push comes to shove I am going to try my hand at excavating or something along those lines.
Buckle up for Beryl , you are not going to be able to grade . Get your chains , bars , bar oil , mix oil and maybe a new saw or three . God bless the folks that are really getting ready to lose a lot and a lot of property damage and loss and hope too many don’t lose there lives
Good to see you back did you make shure to get your money for doing this for what that you were doing yah this world is going to hell in a hand basket you should get your excavator home and get it and the off road truck and do your lake at your place

Wow. That's a massive press. There's a osb mill pretty close to me. Never been in the place though. I've heard some wild stories
