I'm really excited to go on a second World Trip or... should I say finish the first World Trip, which I had to abort due to the pandemic. :-) We also can't fully open the fridge lid, so I used magnets to keep it open. In our case the lid is metal and I attached two strong rubber-covered magnets to a short strap that dangles from the side of the roof's frame at just the right position to hold the lid open :-)
      Hard to explain. Just uploaded a short video to my channel :)

      @@HaveFunAndGo :) You could glue a sheet of metal to the lid. (these self-adhesive iron foils wont work, too weak).

    You’ve got a great delivery on your video. Humble, logical and critical.
    The fact you are “going to clean your axles” and then proceed to remove and strip them down completely is next level.
    I would recommend a really good etch primer for the axles or having them powder coated.

    • @HaveFunAndGo
      @HaveFunAndGo  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you, I appreciate it! Although the whole process is very time-consuming, I think it's worth it. And powder coating the axle crossed my mind as well, but then I thought about my wallet (; So, I think a good 2k epoxy primer and 2k paint will do the job.

    Less is more ! Even you didn’t mention to keep the weight down is and will provide much more pleasure driving . Probably you have already on your list to have a technical upgrade on your battery system. Check the web and dive into dc -dc charging. Looking forward to your progress

    • @HaveFunAndGo
      @HaveFunAndGo  2 роки тому

      Less is definitely more, although I'm not worried about the weight. I thought I would notice a big difference after the conversion, but there was surprisingly little. After all, the Defender is a real workhorse! But I agree that slimming down is better for the fuel consumption I Have not deep-dived into dc/dc charging as I'm planning to stick with the original setup. You know, gotta keep an eye on that old wallet 😄

    This is a "no-bullshit" setup and I think it's brilliant! Really curious about the new camper build. Are you going to re-use the plastic storage boxes?

    • @HaveFunAndGo
      @HaveFunAndGo  2 роки тому

      It is indeed! I don't think the plastic storage boxes will return because I'm drastically changing the interior design.

    Boomers use Hammerite! No, jokes aside... Preparation is vital. That is also the case for Hammerite, but if you're doing all the scrubbing and cleaning and you have yourself a shiny, bare metal axle, I wouldn't use Hammerite but a 2k epoxy primer and paint just like you mentioned! Oh and about the interior... If it works, it works!

    • @HaveFunAndGo
      @HaveFunAndGo  2 роки тому +1

      Hahaha! I agree, there are other products on the market nowadays which are better than Hammerite, wax oil or similar stuff. Tending more and more toward the 2k paint.

      @@HaveFunAndGo my plans are over 2.5 weeks Norway and the north cape. But I cracked the bottom of my gearbox on Thursday...... So right now the cab is off, motor out, axles loose and gearbox out. So alot of work. But from now it is building again.
      My plans are also Solo. I think it the best way to meet people and locals. And you can change your plans any time without discussions 😃
