I rate Ed highly. No matter how much he blows up and how big he becomes, he still keeps it humble enough to perform on SBTV and keep it real. Lord knows he could easily reach out to massive, mainstream platforms and get big money instead. What a guy.
But the big mainstream platforms would just want the commercial performances. Not that there is anything wrong with his singles but for SBTV this is the sort of song that made him big on here and personally, the type that i want to hear more of.
Me too. If love was a currency I would be one of the richest girls in the world. And the world would be wealthy. This is one of the key verses in this song. Funnily, some time ago I thought of the same thing about love being the currency, not the money.
Designated Street what a troll. saying your superior to someone over the internet proves that your not and exerting yourself like this is because it shows you dont have balls to say it in front of people's faces in real life. but what do i know its just from what i can read about you.
Yall, I think this is his explanation of why he when on break. He lost himself in the fame, when he saw the change in himself. So he wanted to be the man he was before. To talk; fix things with his family; to find answers and to find himself. The fame, drugs, heartbreaks, the never ending pressure. This is Ed Sheeran, the emotional, loving man. That sees everything and feels everything. Listen closely and you find answers! F the system Ed, F the system!!!!!!!!
There's so much pain in this song - torn between the idealism and realism of this dream he's pursued and the regret of all the wrong he's done, but there's nothing that can change it now.
@S. I. V. I think he means just love in general not just love between two people, there a lot of things people love besides people whether it be materialistic or another form I'm guessing that's what he was going at because everyone has one thing that they love doesn't matter what it is it's still love
7 years ago "Suffolk sadly seems to sort of suffocate me" now "I wish I was home more" it's not until you live away from Suffolk that you realise your love for the place, best place on earth ❤️
Lucy N It's the same for every place people grew up though, good memories of a familiar place are what people think of when they are out traveling unknown places.. Tis a safe place in the comforts of our mind. 😊
I live in Suffolk and I think it is quite boring sometimes. However, every time I visit places like London I realise that I am actually quite lucky because everyone is so isolated there, yet we have quite a nice community where we know a lot of people.
I don't live in Suffolk, but in a little German village and I feel very gifted! Living in the countryside is very precious to me; I enjoy the air, the nature and the fact that it's a great place for horseback riding (and other sports too of course )
There is so much pain and anger in this song. It's so real. Ed is torn between two worlds. I'm here before 1 million and I will be always here. I love the song. This is real Ed.
This is what I really wanted to write! I was here before all this million of fans. 7 years ago with his You need me, i don't need you on sbtv, I already knew Him! And this is the Real Ed we love! This is the Ed who didn't let the industry change himself!
Opal Milota He said he released those songs first because they would blow up the most, since they are great radio songs. Many people said that those were the best songs they have ever heard but Ed said they aren't even the best songs from his album (in his opinion) so I really can't wait for the album ❤
Opal Milota finally someone who thinks like me, his rap songs are the best, those pop songs like How would you Feel, that is like Thinking out loud, i hate those songs, sorry but i do, Love songs like Im a Mess are awesome, but thinking out loud is too much
I think it's safe to say that Ed Sheeran has blessed 2017 and it's only February. Can't wait to see what new songs he releases throughout the year. You've come so far, Ed; we're all so proud of you!
Such a raw and honest look into what caused Ed to trash his phone and get out while he still could. "Another one to take the sting away. White lines. Pain Eraser. Everyday the cocaine gets the best of us. I wish that I never took that first line. I wish I didnt love it when my face feels buzzin and the taste stays under my tongue." I hope this amazing kid finds peace in sobriety and continues to contribute to humanity with this gift. We need it.
"I woke up this morning looking in the mirror thinking to myself that I should probably be thinner, the industry told me too look like them but I find my happiness in fried food for my dinner" ED is so real🔥🔥
Brannon Puett trust me, the first 10 times i heard it i kept hearing new bars and i was like "nah fam you aren't that much of a genius".. he is something else⭐⭐
@@wadurito 6 months late but art takes time and resources you have to pay, and sometimes you need to make sacrifices, i think that is the deep they are talking about
This honestly left me speechless. If nothing more, Ed Sheeran is one of the best songwriter our generation has seen. This song is the story of his journey in the industry and his struggle with what it does to people like him. Ed is one of those people who weren't built for the spotlight, but he's still here. He shows us the most intimate details of his life through song, and I imagine it's extremely hard for him to say the least. I respect him, I love him, and I'm so excited for this album. Thanks for giving us this piece of you Ed. xx
Ness you write like it would be a fact maybe he's just pretending and no he's for sure not there best songwriter God he won't be remembered like they Beatles or Nirvana he'll be remembered as ed sheeran who has nothing really new to add to their music....
I'm happy to see ed coming back to something that was so pivotal in helping his career get to where he is today, he's such a humble talented person who deserves every bit of success he gets, he is a rarity in the industry and I'm glad his personality hasn't changed at all since he started
I was born inside a small town, I've lost that state of mind Learned to sing inside the Lord's house, but stopped at the age of nine I forget when I get awards now the wave I had to ride The paving stones I played upon, they kept me on the grind So blame it on the pain that blessed me with the life Friends and family filled with envy when they should be filled with pride And when the world's against me is when I really come alive And everyday that Satan tempts me, I try to take it in my stride You know that I've got whisky with white lines and smoke in my lungs I think life has got to the point I know without it's no fun I need to get in the right mind and clear myself up Instead, I look in the mirror questioning what I've become I guess it's a stereotypical day for someone like me Without a nine-to-five job or an uni degree To be caught up in the trappings of the industry They showed me the locked doors I find another use of key And you'll see [Chorus 1] I'm well aware of certain things that will destroy a man like me But with that said give me one more, higher Another one to take the sting away I am happy on my own, so here I'll stay Save your lovin' arms for a rainy day And I'll find comfort in my pain Eraser [Verse 2] I used to think that nothing could be better than touring the world with my songs I chased the pictured perfect life, I think they painted it wrong I think that money is the root of evil and fame is hell Relationships and hearts you fixed, they break as well And ain't nobody wanna see you down in the dumps Because you're living your dream, man, this shit should be fun Please know that I'm not trying to preach like I'm Reverend Run I beg you, don't be disappointed with the man I've become Our conversations with my father on the A14 Age twelve telling me I've gotta chase those dreams Now I'm playing for the people, dad, and they know me With my beat and small guitar wearing the same old jeans Wembley Stadium crowd two hundred and forty thou I may have grown up but I hope that Damien's proud And to the next generation, inspiration's allowed The world may be filled with hate but keep erasing it now Somehow [Chorus 2] I'm well aware of certain things that will befall a man like me But with that said give me one more, higher Another one to take the sting away I am not beyond my own, so here I'll stay Save your lovin arms for a rainy day And I'll find comfort in my pain Eraser And I'll find comfort in my pain Eraser And I'll find comfort in my pain Eraser [Verse 3] (only in Extended F64 version) I woke up this morning lookin' in the mirror Thinkin' to myself that I should probably be thinner The industry told me to look like them But I found my happiness in fried food for my dinner I wish that she could have been my first time And I wish that I'd never took that first line And I wish that every word in this verse rhymed But forgive me if it doesn't I wish that I could make peace with my older cousin I wish he didn't think that it was me when it wasn't I wish I didn't love it when I'm high and my face feels buzzin' And the taste stays underneath my tongue Wish that I had known what to do as a youngling Wish I hadn't dropped out of school and missed every single party With that hardly matters now, man, does it? This reminds me soooo much of when he would perform the extended version of "You Need Me, I Don't Need You", just the flow and the way his voice sounds. It takes me back, makes me feel happy. I didn't realize how much I truly missed Ed until he came back 👌💁💕💕

"SBTV, which started my career properly" I think it's one of the biggest ways an artist can thank a platform. He's giving them a golden exclusive and he knows it.
".. so blame it on the pain that blessed me with the life - friends and family filled with envy when they should be filled with pride.. .. And when the world's against me is when I really come alive!" So true now a days, people want to see you do good, but never better then them. Never give up and keep your momentum going.
I like Ed because he seems normal. Like he really is doing the music because he loves it and not for fame or fortune. And man does it take a lot of balls to be so honest in a song. I feel like every question I have about fame has been answered through this song.
Favorite quote "I wish love was a currency and everyone was wealthy" Ed Sheeran. That is so deep and a thing everyone should aspire for because then it might actually become reality
This is the Ed Sheeran I want. Not the "Shape Of You" or "Sing" guy. The one who talks/raps about life and the things he's done. However, these songs never become really popular because they don't fit into the "normal" music industry
Because those are singles that advertise his album. I'm pretty happy his hip hop influenced songs don't get popular, because they're the ones I like the most... I just want to keep this artist for myself you know? Everyone knows his commercial shit but when you start talking about his deep songs they're disliking it because it's not what they expected.
some people are saying bc he wrote it, but like if I made myself chicken, will I remember what I put in it and how much? NOOO and I definitely wouldn't be able to memorize a song like that haha no way in hell
"when i came out of uni I got my 2:1 degree, I felt gassed everyone congratulating me, I was soon to know the true meaning of free, Sat in an office making 40+ cups of tea, Soon enough I realised that wasnt for me. Packed my bags and went to the land of the free."
I see the struggle he had with trying to be a realist with dreams and it shows how fked up the celebrity industry is and how much it can damage a person
Is this not an answer to 'You need me man I dont need you' when he says "I hope that damiens proud" as in when he says "name up in lights next to damien rice" from the old song?
I mean. They are both great artists and story tellers. lets not get things heated here. There is no point in comparing them anyway. They are both unique artists with amazing qualities on both ends.
These lyrics. Absolutely incredible. Lost for words...His raw honesty about the industry came about first in '+' and now he's back at it again in '÷' "I wish love was a currency" this made me tear up. Yes I missed his music whilst he was away, however the lyrics he has come up by a break just shows how much the industry rushing to make albums is a bad idea. You rarely get quality lyrics, passionate, meaningful, relatable in some places, like this. Ed is an artist and he needs time to write his material. Respect Ed, you're my all time favourite artist since 2011 and forevermore.
Its so fucking impressive that he can play the Guitar that well and sing beautifully while doing it. Well, I guess he has been doing it for years... Still awesome
Every line in this song can be a Quote.

7 years ago "Suffolk sadly seems to sort of suffocate me" now "I wish I was home more" it's not until you live away from Suffolk that you realise your love for the place, best place on earth ❤️
Lucy N Yes exactly, another example for that development is Castle On The Hill, a "love song for Suffolk" 😄
Lucy N It's the same for every place people grew up though, good memories of a familiar place are what people think of when they are out traveling unknown places.. Tis a safe place in the comforts of our mind. 😊
Seems to sort of suffocate
I live in Suffolk and I think it is quite boring sometimes. However, every time I visit places like London I realise that I am actually quite lucky because everyone is so isolated there, yet we have quite a nice community where we know a lot of people.

There is so much pain and anger in this song. It's so real. Ed is torn between two worlds. I'm here before 1 million and I will be always here. I love the song. This is real Ed.
Ksenija Jemensek ☺❤
Ksenija Jemensek his apbum is divide to separate things divided
This is what I really wanted to write! I was here before all this million of fans. 7 years ago with his You need me, i don't need you on sbtv, I already knew Him!
And this is the Real Ed we love! This is the Ed who didn't let the industry change himself!
YEAH.
Here's the Ed I know. Lost you for a bit behind those flashy pop songs, but now you're releasing the real stuff. He's finally back. Missed you xox
Opal Milota He said he released those songs first because they would blow up the most, since they are great radio songs. Many people said that those were the best songs they have ever heard but Ed said they aren't even the best songs from his album (in his opinion) so I really can't wait for the album ❤
Opal Milota the album version of this song is worse than this is though :(
Opal Milota finally someone who thinks like me, his rap songs are the best, those pop songs like How would you Feel, that is like Thinking out loud, i hate those songs, sorry but i do, Love songs like Im a Mess are awesome, but thinking out loud is too much
I like all of his songs, tbh. I think he doesn't want to be put in a box, and I deeply respect him. He could do any genre, really
I think it's safe to say that Ed Sheeran has blessed 2017 and it's only February. Can't wait to see what new songs he releases throughout the year. You've come so far, Ed; we're all so proud of you!
Georgia Atherton march 3 ➗ comes out!! Can't wait!
March now.. 😏
We need it.
Jimmything um I think he says everyday the temptations get the best of us? correct me if I'm wrong
Amel Kamal it's definitely cocaine, that's why they bleeped it. I really hope he stays sober.
Stacey R nah he says temptations, why would he bleep cocaine anyways
Amel Kamal why would they bleep temptations

yeah which part??
he means the 3rd verse its exclusive for this

"I woke up this morning looking in the mirror thinking to myself that I should probably be thinner, the industry told me too look like them but I find my happiness in fried food for my dinner"
ED is so real🔥🔥
DopeGrime the realist 🙌🏽🙌🏽
DopeGrime ed is true to us😂😂❤️❤️
😂
every line can be a deep instagram caption.
Nico Padua I used 2 verses as insta captions 😂
This song is like a classic movie you can watch repeatedly and see something awesome and new each time
Brannon Puett trust me, the first 10 times i heard it i kept hearing new bars and i was like "nah fam you aren't that much of a genius".. he is something else⭐⭐
Brandon Puett, exactly !
"I wish that creating art didn't come with a budget" Damn...
:)
That hit me deep ....really deep
Two years late, but how is this"deep"?
😔
@@wadurito 6 months late but art takes time and resources you have to pay, and sometimes you need to make sacrifices, i think that is the deep they are talking about

The realist song he's written so far! 👌🏼
don't ya just love 'im :)
IKEAMAENNCHEN are you serious ed sheeran will most definitely be a legend in this generation Ness is bang on the money.
IKEAMAENNCHEN you sound too old.... just wait and see if they become legends.... relax
Its not that deep
UA-camr & Stevie Wonder would be amongst the top, w/out question.
One of the realest songs ever written.
if 'Take it back' and 'The Man' had a child, this would be it.
Bruuh exactly what I thought
MrTi7m bruuuh. have you heard the studio version. it's like if the child of 'take it back' and 'the man' was on steroids.
MrTi7m dudeee exactly what I was thinking!!
Pamplona Novel studio version? The album isn't out yet, how?
MrTi7m yo that's what I was thinking!!!!!
Gotta love the bloke who says "one take" at the end
Yeah haha
Stormzy.
Harry Simmonds Music Jamal Edwards
I'm happy to see ed coming back to something that was so pivotal in helping his career get to where he is today, he's such a humble talented person who deserves every bit of success he gets, he is a rarity in the industry and I'm glad his personality hasn't changed at all since he started
Yuri Fernando where did you get that information from ?
amcl1 first time I ever heard him was on SBTV whilst going through the videos
Becky yeah of course I have I don't get what point your trying to make ???
Have you heard You Need Me I Don't Need You?

Jamal Edwards founded SBTV and has done many interviews and videos with Ed.
I was born inside a small town, I've lost that state of mind
Learned to sing inside the Lord's house, but stopped at the age of nine
I forget when I get awards now the wave I had to ride
The paving stones I played upon, they kept me on the grind
So blame it on the pain that blessed me with the life
Friends and family filled with envy when they should be filled with pride
And when the world's against me is when I really come alive
And everyday that Satan tempts me, I try to take it in my stride
You know that I've got whisky with white lines and smoke in my lungs
I think life has got to the point I know without it's no fun
I need to get in the right mind and clear myself up
Instead, I look in the mirror questioning what I've become
I guess it's a stereotypical day for someone like me
Without a nine-to-five job or an uni degree
To be caught up in the trappings of the industry
They showed me the locked doors I find another use of key
And you'll see
[Chorus 1]
I'm well aware of certain things that will destroy a man like me
But with that said give me one more, higher
Another one to take the sting away
I am happy on my own, so here I'll stay
Save your lovin' arms for a rainy day
And I'll find comfort in my pain
Eraser
[Verse 2]
I used to think that nothing could be better than touring the world with my songs
I chased the pictured perfect life, I think they painted it wrong
I think that money is the root of evil and fame is hell
Relationships and hearts you fixed, they break as well
And ain't nobody wanna see you down in the dumps
Because you're living your dream, man, this shit should be fun
Please know that I'm not trying to preach like I'm Reverend Run
I beg you, don't be disappointed with the man I've become
Our conversations with my father on the A14
Age twelve telling me I've gotta chase those dreams
Now I'm playing for the people, dad, and they know me
With my beat and small guitar wearing the same old jeans
Wembley Stadium crowd two hundred and forty thou
I may have grown up but I hope that Damien's proud
And to the next generation, inspiration's allowed
The world may be filled with hate but keep erasing it now
Somehow
[Chorus 2]
I'm well aware of certain things that will befall a man like me
But with that said give me one more, higher
Another one to take the sting away
I am not beyond my own, so here I'll stay
Save your lovin arms for a rainy day
And I'll find comfort in my pain

[Verse 3] (only in Extended F64 version)
I woke up this morning lookin' in the mirror
Thinkin' to myself that I should probably be thinner
The industry told me to look like them
But I found my happiness in fried food for my dinner
I wish that she could have been my first time
And I wish that I'd never took that first line
And I wish that every word in this verse rhymed
But forgive me if it doesn't
I wish that I could make peace with my older cousin
I wish he didn't think that it was me when it wasn't
I wish I didn't love it when I'm high and my face feels buzzin'
And the taste stays underneath my tongue
Wish that I had known what to do as a youngling
Wish I hadn't dropped out of school and missed every single party
With that hardly matters now, man, does it?
Wish I had an answer to everything, but fuck it
I wish creatin' art didn't come with a budget
But while we're on the subject
I wish my private life would have never gone public
But that's the sacrifice that we make
Spendin' my whole time high livin' life away
[Chorus 3] (only in Extended F64 version)
Singin' this is how we're livin' down here
Sittin' on the edge, lookin' out without fear
Yeah, we got drama but you know we don't care
I wanna see you sing it, put your hands in the air, one wish
I'm singin' this is how we're livin' down here
Sittin' on the edge, lookin' out without fear
Yeah, we got drama but you know we don't care
I wanna see you sing it, put your hands in the air, one wish
[Verse 4] (only in Extended F64 version)
I wish my family and friends they stay healthy
I wish that love was a currency and the whole world was wealthy
I found myself late night wishin' on a star
Everyday I wish I'd never broken a heart, uh
And I wish I'd never run to
Every woman that I loved that kept my life and what it's come to
I wish I was the role model you looked up to
If I told my fans the things I did they'd say, "Fuck you"
I wish I was home more
I wish my teens could see the kids on the birthdays, but yo, we're on tour
And I wish I'd grow more, wish I told more
People that I love 'em but it's in the music that I'm known for
And I wish he never got cancer
And if I smoke a pack a day, well, does that make me a wanker?
Oh yes, I guess it does, and we're still stressin' 'cause
Every day this shit gets the best of us
Usin' my balance on eraser blades
Spendin' my whole time high wishing life would wait
[Chorus 3] (only in Extended F64 version)

I'm using jumpers for goalposts, cigarettes for throat cold
Mum sayin', "Don't smoke," no, I don't listen, I got
Love for a ghost note, shows on the gold coast
People that I don't know share the same vision
I find truth in the hard times and words that aren't mine
Tryin' to find a love with a compatible star sign
Sometimes I can't write, sentences can't rhyme
Starin' at my notepad quick, I'm tryin' to find mine
Shit, quick before I hit it again
Surrounded in the industry by all these ignorant men
And who knew that I'd be paid just to pick up a pen
Just let me hit the studio when we can rip it again

Damien Rice, the singer who most influenced Ed's music

Ed's life story in one song

2017: Ed Sheeran's year.
I like Ed because he seems normal. Like he really is doing the music because he loves it and not for fame or fortune. And man does it take a lot of balls to be so honest in a song. I feel like every question I have about fame has been answered through this song.

@@didntmeantoeatbakingsoda NONONO WHY DID YOU RELEASE THIS HORROR ON THE WORLD
This is the Ed Sheeran I want. Not the "Shape Of You" or "Sing" guy. The one who talks/raps about life and the things he's done. However, these songs never become really popular because they don't fit into the "normal" music industry
preach
Mi Ch i want both!!
🙄🙄 all his music is equally great. Bye.
Mi Ch basically Macklemore.
"Ed is Art." that's enough said
Thumps up, if you think Ed is one of the very few real artist left on earth.
Hi
how the hell can he memorize that?!?! i can't even remember what i ate yesterday
caroline moncaio it's not really that hard. Just practice.
It's because he's the one who wrote it
George Makridis well she's the one who ate it :,)
some people are saying bc he wrote it, but like if I made myself chicken, will I remember what I put in it and how much? NOOO and I definitely wouldn't be able to memorize a song like that haha no way in hell
It's freestyle
this guy is just incredible

What did we do to deserve Ed Sheeran?

we listened.
We didn't, and we certainly don't. He's obviously a gift from God.
thats what I asked myself when isaw him in concert the whole time
He may not be the hero we deserve, but he's certainly the hero we need.
I love Ed and this version of Eraser is 1000000x better than the album version. This is the real him.
