For some reason, I find the Galaxy class ships always having some kind of majestic appearance. Great video, they should bring the dominion war episodes out on blu-ray with updated CGI. The bring out fan collective sets like Alternate Realities, so why not?
@sodhexo It seems you're not understanding what I'm saying. The Excelsior is almost as old as the Miranda and is being phased out, which is why the Federation no longer constructs them. The fleet of them you see in DS9 are left over from earlier times which have been upgraded as much as possible. I never said nor implied that additions cannot be made; the implication which anyone else would gather was that older ships get phased out, the timeline for the Sovereign intro fits with this.
This war was the best ever sci fi war shown on tv,the excelsior class ships need to be pulled out from the front lines though so do the mirandas, they need more galaxy and sovering class ships.
@sodhexo The Nebula did not replace the Miranda class and is actually the second largest starfleet battleship class vessel, outmatched only by the Galaxy. Now an analogy could be made that the Nebula is to the Galaxy as the Miranda is to the Constitution, but in no way does the Nebula replace the role of the Miranda. Upon release the Miranda was a medium cruiser, the Nebula being a battleship. The Sovereign is the replacement for the Excelsior as stated by the designers as the main heavy cruiser
That was so brutal when the Defiant fires its quantum torpedos at the Breen ship and splits it in half, I remember Sisko was so fucking pissed at the time too. So good.
Easy: Warping by means fighting a Fleet which is much bigger as the own PLUS the Spacestaion in the neck. DS9 was left by the Dominion after it was clear, that the own fleet lost the battle.
Well, the Mirandas were like an older version of the Defiant, minus the ablative hull armor. They were cheap, quick, and easy to build. Most of them probably weren't fully outfitted. They probably didn't know they were going to die, but they knew that it would be a bumpy ride.
I agree with the opinion of the miranda. Both the miranda and the excelsior are capable and Starfleet needed some ships to fill the gap between the fighters and the warships. AKA they needed frigates.
I think the music fits well also. You had scenes in there that the other guy didn't have i.e. the Battle for Cardassia Prime. It's been so long since i have wathced DS9, I narely remember that battle like when they were going through the orbital batteries. I so need to buy Seaon 6 & 7 on DVD. Great videop=!
@shadowOrgon It's never really addressed why in fleet to fleet battles you don't really see shields being used. Obviously its for dramatic effect, but you can probably use the explanation that shields were either powered down or scaled to hug the hull closely so that ships would have room to maneuver effectively. Otherwise they may be able to be huddled together by a larger force due to limited maneuvering room.
@sodhexo When did I ever imply that? I implied that after a period of time older designs (space frames) would get phased out, nothing more. The Lakota was upgraded with higher rated emitters, and does of course have more potential than a Defiant class (but a Defiant class is a pure warship and less than one ninth the volume built from the ground up with that in mind). The Lakota would have definitely won if it had been fitted with ablative armour.
I wish the miranda class stood more of a chance, seeing such a iconic class being destroyed over and over again gets rather depressing when watching these fan videos
@sodhexo You're wrong on all points there according to both canon and producer/designer input. Rick Sternbach stated that the Sovereign was replacing the 80+ year old Excelsior design as the premier heavy cruiser. Furthermore, the replacement for the Miranda in terms of relative power and ability upon release would be the Steamrunner class. You don't replace a light-medium cruiser (now a destroyer) with a premier battleship. It's bad strategy, and doesn't fit with what we've seen population wise
Warp is not like hyperspace in SW. For one, it's not as fast and the opposing fleet can interpose itself in the way and Dominion proved time and again they would sacrifice their own ships to win. Also if they did warp past they'd be surrounded by the station and the fleet that would be then following them.
That is the dramatizer, all starfleet ships have a button on the captains chair that enables the immediate destruction of the ship to make it more dramatic
Plasma weapons don't go through shields, if they did the plasma-using Romulans would have long since conquered the quadrent. Some production decisions have no in-universe explanation.
The dominion war reminds me a lot of ww2 in that many powers ally with 1 side or another to fight a common foe and being allied with the romulans seems a bit like being allied with the lesser of 2 evils like allying with Stalin but he was far worse imo also in this fight its like ww2 the klingons like the yanks show up at the 2nd half of the war in ww2 the battle in this much respect to yank pilots who went to England to fly in their planes to fight the axis before America joined in the war.
@sodhexo However, the comes a time when it becomes counter productive especially in respect of time required, to upgrade a certain ship. Think about it; an Excelsior is roughly nine times the size of the Defiant and a match for it; seems a bit ineffective in a wartime situation fighting for one's survival. The Excelsior has simply reached its end of life in terms of design limitations to implement technology. What can you expect? It's over 80 years old.
@sodhexo Actually, most of that is incorrect according to canon. There were twelve Galaxy classes launched initially in the first batch (Enterprise, Galaxy, Yamato etc), however all evidence indicates that they are still being built and continuously upgraded as the largest platform/capital/battleship the Federation have. In one screenshot we see 15 Galaxy classes out of only thirty or so (and that's just a part of the fleet consisting of fragments of two others in Sacrifice of Angels).
Can people stop with the Galaxy Class? No-one knows the exact numbers and never will. As for the Miranda's, they are still capable starships and Starfleet has a lot of them, so they will be used for a long time.
The point is this is a music fan vid. It's not a clip from the show in case you missed that one ;) he's taken a bunch of clips he likes, and put it to a piece of music that seems fitting. I doubt he was gonna write out a classical score and record it. Griping aside, the video is cool and it's not like the music wrecks it completely, is it? Or did it really spoil your enjoyment that much?
To think if this war and battle happened just about 10 years later they likely wouldn't have the romulan's to help hell theyd probably side with the dominion being crippled and all btw does anyone know about the supernova that blew up romulas ? like i heard that it may of been engineered or something by some race.
1. I saw Akira's die faster. 2. The hull is old, but the Technology inside it is new. Justlike he Excelsior. Either way, maybe we should stop this before we start insulting each other (and ourselves).
nice music but the bits where it goes duh duh duh duh you could quickly flick from the enemy to the federation and back to keep with the beat but overall wicked vid
Because it's a fan music video? Wtf would you post a pointless inflammatory comment for no reason other than to provoke a response like this? Re the Akira discussion... I blame whoever was piloting that one, they did fly right past those orbital weapons platforms, and yeah the ship looked damaged before then, but why get close? XD Why!!! Use the torpedos dammit man!
the weapons platforms were using plasma based weapons, which in the ST universe, rip right through shields.
That double quantum torpedo on the breen ship is my favourite
awesome song with the best battle from star trek ds9 brilliant

As I said to hundreds of ppl, Star Trek holds the title for the Best space battles.
STAR TREK FOREVER!

Awesome video, and Perfect Music fits like a glove!!

I frickin' love this video.
this episode whas the best in the entire series :D
OMG I LOVE THIS VID AND YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDDDDD :D

Dominion Wars Were awsome!

I always wondered what happened to shields in the dominion war.

thats epic
soo awesome
That is the dramatizer, all starfleet ships have a button on the captains chair that enables the immediate destruction of the ship to make it more dramatic
"what the hell is goin on here"
Shadowy, The Guy who was pissed
ok i know i never watched the actually episodes but did none of the ships put there sheilds up?? there getting blasted apart with the first shot!!
Plasma weapons don't go through shields, if they did the plasma-using Romulans would have long since conquered the quadrent.

whats the song of this number?
i thought that song was not a bade choice very good

2:09 is that a connie class behind defiant??

No, the Akira class that inspiration for the NX in Enterprise.
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Was the Enterprise in this fight ? i mean they had to be right being the flag ship or were they sent to guard earth or something ?.
yeah dominion had phased polaron and it ripped right through a galaxy class ship's shields in one episode before this final battle.
+jrwith before the war star fleet learned how to adapt the shields pretty quickly
Was it ever said in the show? Unless it was, I doubt many would class a Technical manual as Canon.
1. I saw Akira's die faster.
2. The hull is old, but the Technology inside it is new. Justlike he Excelsior.

@starman47611 oh dont worry i watched the whole series a month ago lol it was awesome lol
eye of the defiant
Lol the only ships that took hits from the defense weapons but still kept on fighting were the Galaxy class ships and the Defiant
@shadowOrgon u so need to see ds9 my fav sries
at 2:09 is that a connie firing phasers past defiant
if it is thats so jokes lool
Time to kick evils ass yeah! its d-day for the forces of darkness baby.
eye of the tiger by survivor
It's a little choppy...
The images and the lyrics and the music don't really match up well
But it's a solid video
Its just not the same when you can't hear the sound of the phasers/explosions/
nice music but the bits where it goes duh duh duh duh you could quickly flick from the enemy to the federation and back to keep with the beat but overall wicked vid

Personally I didn't like DS9 as much as the other, still good but TOS and TNG were the best then VGR. Good video though
1. DS9 has proven you wrong.
2. So you would say Science and Exploation is a non-important task?
Has anyone counted how many kills the Defiant has?
+drksideofthewal i have no clue
its like 80 somthing
@shadowOrgon idd :P
galaxys kill
great clips ads get me so anoyed at the start!!!!!!
@bhownzrofl2 a piss poor production budget is the cause of all of the flaws in star trek.
(and the enterprise theme)
good vid, not so good choice of musik
terrible choice for the soundtrack.. absolutely terrible.. your fired.
