in this video i show you how i replace the rechargeable battery in the bmw diamond style key. not super hard just got to be careful. i use a few different blades to get it done carefully. i use cut resistant gloves for safe measure to prevent a slip and cutting yourself. i replace the key shell with a new one as the old one was cut open i prefer to get a new looking one than gluing the old case back together.

Just done mine the battery is an LR2020 Panasonic rechargeable replaced it with an LR 2025 the voltage is 3.7 as opposed to the original 3.0volt so far so good,take your time with it it's a bit of a ball ache .Found companies on line that would do the whole job for 20quid

I need to ask you I installed a resistor for airbag light but if the battery goes too low then the resistor always blew up , is there any way to solve this problem because every week or two i need to install new resistor

sounds like you need capacitor to keep the voltage high enough

hakka t-12 blade, Solder-wick brand size #4 solder wick, and DELTA solder wire.

Hey Do you by any chance provide this service? I think my key fobs battery has completely died because of the way it was acting leading up to the fail. BMW wants like over $300 to do this and that is extremely unreasonable especially when they didn’t think about those of us who would be stuck with this old key years later.

I was told that you couldn’t replace the battery outside of BMW that soon as you remove the battery or clip the connectors the chip was unusable any further or the car would realize the signal difference and the key wouldn’t work but I don’t believe that after seeing your video. You look like you know your stuff. My key fob completely died like two days ago, I can still access the car and start it using the key but the key fob is the only thing not working now. What do you suggest Should I get the new key and key fob together if so how much do you charge?

@@johnrich768 new keys are 100, replacing battery in current key is 50, making new key requires shipping me a module, but I also sell a DIY program your own key kit I ship precut key and a programer to program it yourself. On my website link in description

Can i ask something do you need to code it again or someting cause i changed the batery but it does not store my radio settings so every time i need to change the radio settings over and over again . Thanks for the help if you could provide me one

most of the time i did not need to reprogram, and i have not had the program of the memory not saving.
