Obi Wan - "Only a Sith deals in absolutes..." Anakin Skywalker - "Are you absolutely sure about that?" Obi Wan - "Yes I... Wait no, what? No that's not -" Anakin Skywalker - "Too late."
Ah, but if only a Sith deals in absolutes, then the statement that only a Sith deals in absolutes, which is being stated by a Jedi, must have at least one exception. Such as the statement that only a Sith deals in absolutes. It is its own exception.
So, honest question here: what is this trilogy even about? The original trilogy was about Luke's journey to becoming a Jedi and redeeming his father, the prequel trilogy was about Anakin's descent to the dark side, but this trilogy? Is it supposed to be about Rey? If it is, what the heck is her central conflict and why does it feel like her story isn't doing much to hold the plot together? Is it about Kylo Ren? It really feels like it's more about Kylo Ren now, especially since Snoke is dead. He at least has a definite conflict and internal struggle. What is this trilogy even about?
That's the theme, not the story. The central theme of the original trilogy was redemption, while it told the story of Luke and his growth. The central theme of the prequels was failure, while it told the story of the rise of the Empire. The central theme of these sequels is balance, for sure, but what concrete story is it telling?
@@CygnusTheSilly Come on, what's wrong with it? It is dull in parts ( like the chase with the ships ), but it also has its significant high points like the scene with Yoda, Rey's chemistry with Kylo Ren, and the entire throne room sequence which manages to succeed where The Force Awakens failed and do something original. Mark Hamill's performance is also phenomenal and might be his best in Star Wars.
@@FilthyTrot The originality argument doesn't work because it all it does it take what the franchise previously did and spin it into a what-if scenario. Much original. Very wow. The throne room scene is also horribly choreographed. They're missing their cues like 90% of the time. Clearly needed to be reshot.
What should have happened: Finn died blowing up the ram. Rose died blowing up the ram after pushing Finn away instead. These would have created a powerful moment. Not a kiss without any build up.
What should have happened: Rose got in the escape pod with Finn at the start of the movie, never ever to be seen on screen again and make room for people who are actually interesting. Heck even rose's sister was more interesting and she didn't even have a line...
I agree with Dalton. It would have further extended the theme Rian was trying to show that greatness comes from all places, not just bloodlines. Still holding out for Rey Kenobi though.... lol
Those who like this movie keeps bashing on the rest of the franchise whenever you point out a flaw in the Last Jedi to them. That’s made me heavily doubt they are even fans of Star Wars... It’s just weird to me to defend something you like by pointing out the ‘mistakes’ of something else you supposedly like.
@@thomasjeppesen3055 When did I bash on anyone? I just asked what's wrong with the movie after the first comment said those who like the movie aren't people.
May it be so. I was just thinking while scrolling the comments, "I hope Abrams says 'You know what, I'm just gonna turn episode 8 into a dream sequence that Kylo wakes up from.'"
Watched every single star wars in the cinema on release day. SOLO is going to be the first one im not sure im even gonna bother pirating ;/ Who asked for that movie?
+Jay SpitsFire Please don't let there be anyone who agrees with the petition to remove this movie from Canon. I kinda liked that movie. Also....it's ridiculous to do, anyway. No one could really remove the prequels from canon, either.
+Ass Kicker Ok...really? I had to get one? All right...I'm sorry if you liked the prequels (not sorry that you liked the prequels) and this movie didn't do those prequel things, but it seems like you didn't, and for similar reasons as other people. So, I will simply say this: When did they actually have that much prequel things in this movie? Most of it did not have excessive CGI, no one was as excruciatingly annoying as Jar Jar Binks, and the only way you could be on that level I'm pretty sure would be if it was actually that over-the-top. Rose could be annoying for some people, but not focusing on the plot, she's really did not do such over-the-top annoying things. There wasn't so-called clunky dialogue, and even if there was humor, I found most of the jokes hard not to laugh at. Still, even if not all of them did hit, and even if they were somewhat forced, the most I could even say about it is that it has trouble with balancing it sometimes. It's not like humor destroys the movie and it became a MCU movie, because even MCU movies seemed to borrow a bit from Star Wars especially when it came to flight and space battles, and even their jokes didn't "destroy" the movies. It really only destroyed it for people who wanted it to be more serious, which is not necessarily key to relating to a character. Nobody's all that sad and serious, and even when they are, you have to have more glimpses into a happy place to get behind how it got taken away. And there's still been complaints about the Mary Sue thing, and so, honestly...if she's a Mary Sue, then it think a not necessarily strong female character, but really, really smart female character, is a damsel in distress. I remember a Mary Sure having not much character to her, and she had a ton of character. Some revelations turned out to be shut down fan theories, but she still had ways to go in terms of how her character could go, and they intentionally hinted at that. Plus, Luke is still shown to have way more skill and power than her, because he can do that force projection thing, while Rey really only learned fast, and really only seemed to learn the basics of what we've seen with the original trilogy (I'm not counting the force connection, because neither her or Kylo Ren caused it).
@Henry Louis21 the only reason the original trilogy was good was because people weren't afraid to tell lucas to do something different. The reason the prequels sucked is because people were afraid to tell Lucas to do something different.
@Henry Louis21 the real George Lucas is required to like it, kind of like how Mark Hamill had to stop talking about Jake Skywalker. I'm surprised we got as much honesty out of Mark as we did before Disney shut him up
How to develop quickly...have a background in something (fighting with a staff), have a mentor teach you (Luke), have a natural ability for something (genetics/the force)...common sense.
Even Anakin and Luke needed a full training in it. This movie is a total garbage, the new Disney sequence just spit on the old movies turning they useless for the rest of the history.
MAKChaosLander its almost like luke became the greatest Jedi master after his training, preforming feats equal to star killer even though Luke wasn’t training for years whacky I know.
when the Sith Lord Dath Sidious confronted him in the 3rd movie he almost die, if it was not the interference of your father. The point is that movie scracth so many the Jedi training to the point that transforms the subject to a just genetic matter, what in my point of view its really ridiculous.
Reasins to be more afraid of Star Wars fans than Ghostbusters fans. Star Wars has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fans than Ghostbusters and we are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fanatical and some of us even have Force pwers.

Actually showcasing two opposing viewpoints and outlining the main points of all the debates is actually pretty brilliant. Considering how controversial the movie reception is and putting out something their UA-cam viewers would accept
apparently. but in your case i am not convinced. why isn't lightspeed ramming more of a thing? why was inertia of masses not a thing for ships without fuel? why is there gravity in space? why could leia pull her mary poppins stunt? why did rose save the horse bunnies but not the child slaves? why did DJ knew of the secret shuttle plan if not even poe knew about it? why did vice admiral gender fluid wait with commiting her "SUICIDE" stunt AFTER most shuttles were destroyed? I could go on for ages and please don't give me that Rian "brain does not compute" Johnson's weak twitter explenations for all this and more. please make me laugh with your relativations.
Julian Hudson how did you like it? It’s truly one of the worst lines in a high budget movie. Think about it, in the movie, Rose’s own sister sacrificed her life for the Resistance and so did Holdo and they are portrayed as heroes. But Finn does it he gets the worst line in film history said to him? This is why people say the movie is a mess

If Tom Kane played him the entire movie, people would've complained. No matter what the movie did, people would've complained. And you'll all complain that Solo is the worst thing to happen to the franchise too. This is the 7th time it's happened.
It would have been interesting if the commander wasn't revealing her plan to Po or anyone else because she was aware that there was someone on the their ships that was a mole for the empire and sending messages to the ships that were chasing them. Or perhaps Snoke planted that suspicion there to keep them disorganized and there was no mole. Would have been a dramatic way to escalate tensions in those scenes because they didn't know who to trust. Would also explain Finn's plan of action better if they were acting outside the scope of the mole plot. I don't know, any explanation would have been better than what we got.
I suspect that an earlier draft of the script did have a spy on board the ship. A bunch of subplots in this movie go nowhere. Which is usually a sign that the script went through a bunch of rewrites.
@@youknowwho9247 It's not really about whether it's good or not. I was just so pissed off after VIII I basically said, "Nope, not gonna do it. Boycott." I don't even know if I'll see IX or not.
@@whatheheck930 I think many people did that, which I believe is the only reason why Solo had such bad numbers. It's the best of the new Star Wars movies, certainly better than the prequels too.
The movie seemed so eager to tear down "Star Wars as we know it", but was nowhere near as earnest or sure in establishing what it was trying to build in place of the rubble.
Steven Brock Definitely nothing inherently wrong with intelligently challenging our grasp of the lore--of course, some fans will gripe regardless. But when the film is full of non-answers and pointless subplots in the centerpiece of a trilogy, it's hard to be mad at fans who are angry, confused, and have little hope in the finale really bringing any genuine sense of completion or satisfaction.
I didn’t mind the fact that Rian took risks in 8. I just think he took TOO MANY risks. Nobody wants a movie where they can guess every event that is going to happen, but st the same time you need something that can still connect the dots. Building Kylo up to be the big bad with no real character progression in TLJ after spending TFA showing how he is essentially still a kid just seems counter-intuitive to me.
I mean, Poe sacrificed like 50-100 men to destroy a ship that could raze cities, along with the hundreds of thousands(?) of enemy crew members and soldiers on board, but go off.
The movie does not establish what a Dreadnought, but hints at "but we have a chance to take out a dreadnought" implying that it is somehow menacing and powerful, it also does not establish why much more useful bombers with shielding and mobility like a Y-Wing were replaced by unshielded, slow Bombers with unexplained negation of gravity.
Wait, was Finn’s lesson to “learn to put the greater good above himself”? Because what Rose taught him at the end was that you should not sacrifice yourself to save others if it means you can survive a few more seconds with the one you love. In fact, with the exception of Luke, every single one that sacrificed themselves (or tried to do so) to save others or a greater cause was bashed for doing so.
Thiago Leão It was one of the biggest flaws in the movie, especially considering that the way Rose “saved” him could’ve easily just killed both of them.
Except that Finn's sacrifice would have accomplished nothing, it was clear that even if he hit the machine, it would not really make a dent in it ( Finn's guns melted away just by begin close to the beam, what would that tiny piece of junk do if it hit it?). He would have hit it, died, and the Resistance would still be trapped, and missing a soldier. Also Finns wasn't really sacrificing himself out of a sense of companionship, he was doing it out of hate ("we can't let them win"), it was only after rose saved him that he finally understood the message and was able to see what Luke's plan was (True sacrifice, not by trying to destroy the First Order with anger, but to create the opportunity for the rebels to get away while inspiring others to continue the fight, bringing back hope for the galaxy).
actually, Holdo and Paige weren't depicted as foolish for sacrificed themselve for the greater good... which make this whole narrative really incoherent...
Thiago Leão She stopped him from sacrificing himself by sacrificing herself. Either way, someone's getting sacrificed. That's like the only moment in the movie I genuinely disliked. At least Canto Bight had cool costumes and sets.
Yeah her whole thing was dumb. He was about to sacrifice himself for his comrades. Even if part of the reason was because he wanted to hurt the first order he was still doing it for people he cared about. It was a potential for something big for Finn. A conclusion to his story where he sacrificed himself to give the rebellion time to escape. Going from someone who seemed to mostly think of himself and Rey to someone who thought of everyone. It also would have helped show Poe that yes sometimes sacrifices are good and that you should pick your battles and really know when to run and when to put everything on the line. A message Poe was still working out.
Getting a split second emotional rage against the dark side that makes him temporarily attack someone he cares about? I cant believe he actually went through with attacking him rather than realising his mistake and backing down instantly. Oh wait, that was episode 6, not 8. Its like you complainers never even watched the originals.
T3hHappyEmo Luke was young which many forget and not yet that experienced though has mastery of the force. A master Jedi turning to a sleeping defenseless young man who is his nephew is different from a genocide hateful man full of regrets and dark force power who is his father.
I think the director ignored any plot that was build before this sequel, be it good or bad. Like with snoke. Introduce a powerful antagonist and before getting to know more about him they kill him off? Thats awful! And im not even a sw fan but it just didnt feel like a good movie overall
I think that JJ and Rian had different views on who Snoke should be. JJ wanted him to basically be another Sidious, while Rian wanted him to be a tool to develop the far more interesting character of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. Which one is better, I don't know. But I personally prefer Rian's direction for Snoke because it breaks from the Star Wars norm and makes Kylo Ren more than just "a new Vader" (in Snoke's own words).
JJ wrote a summary of sorts for episode 8 detailing where the story was supposed to go. Rian threw it out. Probably because Kathleen Kennedy (The Force Is Female shirt wearing producer) wanted her man hating views to come first. Regardless if they had different views you can't just throw characters and plots away in the second movie of a trilogy if you don't like them. Episode 7, while kind of bland did setup some interesting plot points and characters. Who was Snoke? They could have developed him a little more before giving us that terribly rushed and dumb death. He's so powerful but he can't tell the lightsaber right next to him is moving? What happened to the Knights of Ren? Kylo is setup as the head of The Knights of Ren but they are completely ignored. Who are Rey's parents? It's not acceptable to go through the build up and baiting they did making us think Rey was someone special (JJ has even said that Rey was not a no one in his story) and then not follow through. This movie didn't provide any progress in the story. It was basically just one unnecessary car chase with a 30 minute unnecessary side quest.
Fans - " This movie is horrible" Disney - "We don't believe it" Yoda - "And that is why, you fail" Mark Hamill - "Well, I'm looking forward to this movie, as long as you don't... awh s**t!!"
This movie is not controversial, it didn't split the fanbase. Most of the people disliked it, to me it was not terrible but still a convoluted mess, it was like Batman v Superman kind of mess. The characters motivations, the plot, the humor, it felt all out of place. I think this movie ruined this new trilogy and JJ Abrams has to do a miracle in the next episode to try to fix it.
AlbeLeonhart most people? Fact is on FB the moive gets a ton of likes. More then there is anger or sads. Its just overly critical and or negative people that want there opinions heard that waste time commenting on it. So it looks as if the majority hated it but fact is NOT the case.
Fact is on RT and Metacritic the user reviews are bad. Even here on YT there are tons of video complaining about the movie. It's so obvious that the majority of people didn't liked it and some people (especially critics) are afraid to say that. Do some research.
Thank you for proving my point. That most of the time the internet is just a place for people to go to comment to vent and be negative. RT was messed up by a couple of whiney upset fan boys. No one i know including myself takes those internet rating sites seriously. I mean I've never rated a movie on one of those sites ever in my life and no one I know has. Out the well over 50 plus friends, family, coworkers and clients that i know that saw the movie only 3 have said they hated it.
Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Episode VII - The Force Awakens Episode VIII - The last Jedi So in a span of 3 movies the Jedi came back just to be back at one, seems legit.
The Force Awakens: all fan service, but we give it a pass because it's fun and it's just nice to see Star Wars in theatres again. The Last Jedi: intriguing! A different kind of Stat Wars, but puts subverting expectations above story, unfortunately. Rise of Skywalker: the first time I have ever been angry in a movie theatre.
Good point about the last Jedi, I guess I don’t mind the clone wars or the mandalorian exploring the Star Wars universe differently, but I think the overall story writing to do it is better
Except, you know, in TPM it’s been established that slaves have explosive chips implanted in them to prevent them from escaping, and Finn & Rose were running in limited time.
@@cdagyekybcrpaa Lol, do you really believe the ** director/writers ever bothered watching the movies or reading any material? Color me surprised if someone give them a summary of the first six movies.
Imman1s yes, they have. In fact you can tell in watching this movie that they love and appreciate Star Wars and wanted to honor it. I’d say they succeeded.
Literally half the trailer was the negatives. And as much as you guys hate to hear it, this movie isn’t the worst Star Wars movie ever or anything. Just a mostly disappointing one where too many of Rian’s ideas got green lit.
I would be less upset with throwing away the entire series if the story was actually good, but the story was not near as strong as it should have been.
I'm not really the biggest star wars fan, but when a friend of mine who is pointed out that the pink haired lady's plan was to crawl forward to the fortress planet and use the destruction of their largest ship to sneak away undetected, I realized that had she told everyone her plan (which is what you do in a high tense situation where moral is going down the toilet and mutiny could occur) Finn and Rose would have never left, never would have grabbed the hacker guy, the hacker guy wouldn't have pointed out the small ships to the First Order, so then they all could have sneaked away while the First Order assumed that the Rebels were destroyed. I was fine with everything else, but that plot hole was huge.
first order still followed them :D they would seen those ships i guess, you might be right but this film was also about decisions so :D I don't think this is a plot hole
Rey still got no actual training. She all ready defeated Kylo in the force awakens so why am I supposed to be excited for a rematch in the ninth movie. If Luke had beat Vader in ESB it would've taken a lot of the impact away from their Death Star Duel
S.R. Morton Come on dude.... Rey clearly downloaded the force through Kylo, that's literally how she beat him and her girl powers could allow her to fend off the entire droid/clone army. (Being sarcastic)
S.R. Morton She did. All the stuff where Luke taught her to reach out to the force, her practicing wielding a lightsaber, it's all in the movie. The way the movie is paced kinda sucks, cause you don't really get a sense of passage of time, but she spends a long time there. So yeah, she's got training.
Its literally nothing she didn't do all ready in the Force Awakens and she didn't even know what the force was. That's how B.S. it is. Abrams and Johnson both made some major errors in their movies.
Rey beat Kylo after he'd killed his dad (I don't care how Sith-y he is, that's going to mess with your head) and taken a bowcaster shot to the gut. Sounds reasonable to me. Especially since she's presumably spent almost her entire life fighting for survival.
S.R. Morton I think it was Ruin Johnson (or Kathleen Kennedy) that said that another force user can get all the force techniques and lightsaber skills of another force user by simply downloading them (a similar process)
WHAT!?!? 2 voice guys? Showing both persectives? I could barely hear him say Bewbs!!! It's like it was written by someone who hates Honest Trailers! THIS TRAILER RUINED MY CHILDHOOD! ;-D
Its Rians folt. The reason he killed Snoke was because he was not intrested in him and the same goes for Luke, Captain Phasma and the Rey heritage. He was intrested in politics. He probaply forgot about the knights of Ren
I watched this video for a few seconds and then paused it to type this comment. I am wondering if the singer Freddie Mercury from the British rock band Queen will be featured in this video, if not I will be very disappointed and will have to watch another video. I can see a trailer for the new Jurassic Park movie in the suggestions so I think I will watch that one because I'm hopeful that Freddie Mercury will be featured in that video.
It's his story basically, lol And this was completely unintended, at least that's the impression I had. Maybe the writers assumed the public would like Rey because she came from nowhere and the actress has some charisma, that alone justify a protagonist in 2015. Nope... not even close.
Conflicted characters are always interesting, because they're hard to figure out and it's fun to find out where they'll end up. So they get character development, which is not the case for Rey. She's basically the same character she was at the start of ep 7, except with more superpowers. I use the term "superpowers" because her use of the Force is no where near how it's supposed to develop from what we've seen since the first movie came out, but that's another story. She's pretty much as Mary Sue as you can get. They had a chance to flip it all on its head and have her join Kylo, even if it was temporary, but no, of course she wouldn't, she's an unschooled, orphan, hermit scavenger with the moral compass of Mother Theresa. They kind of ignore the fact that she shouldn't be able to tell right from wrong since she grew up isolated from society. Her character makes absolutely no sense, so people prefer Kylo since he's more relatable on some part, and he's certainly more intriguing.
Well, Rise of Skywalker is doing OK at the box office... Not smashing it out of the park but still it will pass the $1 billion mark... And everyone seems to raving about The Mandalorian, so...yeah, seems like the whole "The Last Jedi killed Star Wars" thing is a little off the mark.
I think it's okay. Far from the best, but far from the worst. I left the movie going "okay, what now?", so that kinda disappointed me. But I'm not usually one to get outraged over movies or additions to things that I like. I still love Star Wars, and will probably continue to love Star Wars...until they make "Binks: A Star Wars Story".
For me, I hated the movie for how shallow I have to go to poke holes in the movie, but if I just cruise over the waves, I liked the movie, but that still won’t stop the waves from splashing onto the ship
One burning question I have is why didn't Rey learn to use the force on her own when she was a kid Like Broom kid? who all he needed was to know about the Jedi to use the force. TLJ seems to have retconned Jedi training out of existence so what's Rey's excuse for not becoming a force-user much sooner? Did she never pretend to be a Jedi as a kid?
Luke in the original trillogy wasn´t force user until he met Ben (Obi-Wan) and then he suddenly was able to see that little flying training-target and to use the force at the end of the movie to destroy the first deathstar. The topic of people not using the force and then suddenly using it when they meet a mentor is running through the franchise just like the fact there are sounds in the vacuum. I see it as them using the force randomly and not knowing they do it. Rey might be using the force since her childhood but only randomly and without knowing she can do something special. When she was fighting some assholes on Jakku - which she certainly had to do - she was using the force similar way Anakin used it when he was racing. Maybe she would get killed as a kid without the ability to use the force. What elese is a good survival instinct - that voice in your head which tells you to avoid certain places without obvious reason - than using the force without even noticing?
Yokesplooge its one of those things where you need to learn how to harness the power but she should have showed signs(but hey luke didn’t) the problem comes where she does 3 days training(not even) and she can move huge ass boulders that is actually difficult
The force is now just a plot device to make the plot move, rather than being a characteristic that defines certain characters and not others, now everyone can be a force user. Gee whiz.
You overstate Luke by a mile. He wasn't a "force-user" just someone being taught to stretch out his feelings to enhance his instincts. He did not use any force powers until the Wampa Cave...TWO YEARS after meeting Ben. Hardly "suddenly."
get over yourself...........??? as unappealing as it was - killing off Luke at some lousy, un-epic, last minute battle/screaming match with Kylo Ren is something [anyone] can live with. it's tragic and heartbreaking to have one's hero fall. best summation to Luke's character is his scene with Yoda. Where Yoda says sth about the burden of masters. painful to lose luke that way, but it makes sense. Luke was cool and badass in his final scene
Poe has more blood on his hands than the first order? They literally blew up like half a dozen planets in TFA so he'd have to slaughter day and night for a decade to achieve even a portion of that
@@theparrishshow9803 point still stands, the empire blew up a planet in its first half hour of screen time, then of course there's things like project cinder where they executed whole populations (of empire loyalists I might add) just to keep people scared
The only thing good about The Last Jedi is that they have improved my perception of the Prequel Trilogy, even The Phantom Menace, by comparing them to TLJ. Congrats Rian Johnson! You have done the impossible!
It is honestly so satisfying to see that between people who like and dislike this movie that most both agree the whole Holdo conflict was stupid and avoidable.
I never took this movie as a personal insult, it was just a bad movie. I sat there in the theater with an open mind. I didn't look at a single trailer or theory because I like the adventure. I don't care what I get as long as the writing/characters are good. They were not. As each scene passed by I nodded my head, waiting for something entertaining to happen or for a character to grow. Suffice it to say I grew more and more worried that it was going to disappoint me as the hours passed. It wasn't until I realized that the best part of the movie was the irony that Phasma was just a Boba Fett that did less before dying that I realized how shocked I was at the terrible writing in this movie. Subversion didn't work on me because I had no expectations, and doing so just to prove a point is bad writing. There were many chances to subvert in a good way that would have actually been fun. Like, Rey dipping to easily into the Dark Side with Luke and thus becoming the next antagonist after the defeat of Snoke. It would have been pretty cool to see Kylo redeem himself by defeating her to fix his mistakes. But alas, no character arcs were found in that movie other than Luke realizing it's cooler to just die for a cause (which goes against the themes Rose told Finn anyway.) Rian Johnson did 9/11.
Literally all of the new introductions since Disneys buyout are shitty characters. At least Rian Johnson had SOME sense and killed some off. Lets hope JJ kills the rest in the next one.
Horrormaster13 At least Darth Maul came back in The Clone Wars as a fully complex villain and used bottomless pit as an excuse for his unexpected return. Too bad for Snoke though. They show his corpse on-screen as if to say "Yup, he ain't coming back."

Honestly they should just focus on Kylo, hes the only one with an arc
Honestly? It's about Mary Sue and how awesome she is.
Excellent point!
That's the theme, not the story. The central theme of the original trilogy was redemption, while it told the story of Luke and his growth. The central theme of the prequels was failure, while it told the story of the rise of the Empire. The central theme of these sequels is balance, for sure, but what concrete story is it telling?
The central theme is balace and the story is about Rey's searching for her identity.

Okay, you got me
I don't like how they killed Ackbar in that movie
R.I.P Ackbar
Y'know. Considering his claim to fame was just 1 line
Ackbar was never that important.
They killed Ackbar??? When in the movie did that happen?
He was killed in the Force Order's first attack on the fleet after the evacuation at the start of the movie.
they didn't think that one through. Who's going to say "it's a trap!" in Episode IX now?!
"The larger theme being: is it possible to miss pod racing? I didn't think so.. but here we are."
It’s too true

That movie made me miss Jar Jar it's that bad
What should have happened:
Finn died blowing up the ram.
Rose died blowing up the ram after pushing Finn away instead.
These would have created a powerful moment. Not a kiss without any build up.
What should have happened.
ANYTHING ELSE.
Still holding out for Rey Kenobi though.... lol
Watch Nando v Movies’ video on this. He has a theory for why that moment went down the way it did and I think he’s right.

+Jay SpitsFire Please don't let there be anyone who agrees with the petition to remove this movie from Canon. I kinda liked that movie. Also....it's ridiculous to do, anyway. No one could really remove the prequels from canon, either.
+The FirstBourne The prequels are good, compared to this garbage.
Ass Kicker how original...

The first law of space battle is, you do not talk about space battle.

Poe is a HERO!

Way different situations. He was a young Jedi against Vader and an experienced Jedi against Ren.
T3hHappyEmo
Luke was young which many forget and not yet that experienced though has mastery of the force.
Orange Spoon j.j Abrams doesn't plan. He sets up his little empty mystery boxes. I'm glad that those were thrown out.
J J Abrams actually had a plan this time. Rian ignored it.
That Other Guy he had some ideas that's not the same as actually having a plan.

A movie that suggests that a bunch of antelope-greyhound horsies have more value than the child slaves tending to them.
They do, according to Rose and Finn. Free the animals and screw the kids!

Since when did an honest trailer focus on the positives lol?
And why is this a bad thing?
@@salemmostafa3661 Never said it was a bad thing
@@beinghuman698 ok sorry
Literally half the trailer was the negatives. And as much as you guys hate to hear it, this movie isn’t the worst Star Wars movie ever or anything. Just a mostly disappointing one where too many of Rian’s ideas got green lit.
@@davidtaylor142 thank you
I would be less upset with throwing away the entire series if the story was actually good, but the story was not near as strong as it should have been.
By saying the story was 'not strong enough' you imply that it was strong. It wasn't. It was utter garbage.
Keldor D'Antrell fair enough
I have waited ages for this
"Last one you'll pay to see" is the correct answer.
@Justin Sabatini no. Rise of Soywalker will be the lowest scoring movie yet. Worse than Solo, you'll see...
@Justin Sabatini not if the egg's already rotten...
S.R. Morton
She did.
The movie might have been polarizing, but this trailer was perfect. Excellent stuff guys!
WHAT!?!?

No mention of Admiral Ackbars death? It was just a mention of his death for one of the most iconic characters in the series!
Josh Tanner Iconic more because of a meme, let's be honest.
Name other facts about Admiral Ackbar other than his meme. Right, iconic.
He fought against the droids attempting to take over his planet during the Clone Wars.

Do Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men tell no Tales with Michael Bolton
Still mad about no Knights of REN
Considering they had 5 seconds of screentime in TFA
CMG The Person true.... they might kill them off screen in pt 9 🤬

I can see a trailer for the new Jurassic Park movie in the suggestions so I think I will watch that one because I'm hopeful that Freddie Mercury will be featured in that video.

omg this is going to be brilliant!
Kylo Ren isn't even the main protagonist of the movie yet he has more emotions and backstory than Rey will ever have.....😂😂😂
It's his story basically, lol And this was completely unintended, at least that's the impression I had. Maybe the writers assumed the public would like Rey because she came from nowhere and the actress has some charisma, that alone justify a protagonist in 2015. Nope... not even close.
Kylo Ren is the most interesting character of this trilogy
SemperVII
I wanted her to join Kylo and build a new order of balanced Jedi/siths but... the writers just said lol nope.
Katwoumane Yeah I was so hoping for something like that. They could've built a super interesting story arc. Too bad they took the easy way out.
Title should have been Star Wars: The last Nail in the Coffin
Michael Kelly too bad there was no coffin to begin with

Well, Rise of Skywalker is doing OK at the box office... Not smashing it out of the park but still it will pass the $1 billion mark... And everyone seems to raving about The Mandalorian, so...yeah, seems like the whole "The Last Jedi killed Star Wars" thing is a little off the mark.
@@jmckendry84 It took a while to make a billion but people will still say it's a disaster because they expected it to make 2 billion dollars
And then came the Mandalorian!
I still don’t know if I like this film or not 🤔
Ryan Dimmick im still trying to like it. its not happening

Daniel Preece He used the force to destroy the death star
I can’t understand how they could treat Luke’s character like that. God
get over yourself...........??? as unappealing as it was - killing off Luke at some lousy, un-epic, last minute battle/screaming match with Kylo Ren is something [anyone] can live with. it's tragic and heartbreaking to have one's hero fall. best summation to Luke's character is his scene with Yoda. Where Yoda says sth about the burden of masters.
painful to lose luke that way, but it makes sense. Luke was cool and badass in his final scene
Poe has more blood on his hands than the first order? They literally blew up like half a dozen planets in TFA so he'd have to slaughter day and night for a decade to achieve even a portion of that
He said more blood than the Empire, not the First Order.

Superion74 they where always awesome but yeah compared to TLJ they are a gift from heaven

And as we all know, experiments are ALWAYS successful, never failures, and you're an art hating Philistine if you don't agree.
It is honestly so satisfying to see that between people who like and dislike this movie that most both agree the whole Holdo conflict was stupid and
avoidable.
But alas, no character arcs were found in that movie other than Luke realizing it's cooler to just die for a cause (which goes against the themes Rose told Finn anyway.)
Rian Johnson did 9/11.
Perfect take-down.
Finn and Rose are lame af
At least they're not integral to the plot like Anakin and Padme.
I like em, but I prefer Finn and Poe. LET THEM BE IN LOVE!
TheBrownTown007 Omg, that burn
Literally all of the new introductions since Disneys buyout are shitty characters. At least Rian Johnson had SOME sense and killed some off. Lets hope JJ kills the rest in the next one.
I like Poe though
Snoke is the biggest waste of a villain since the Mandarin in Iron Man 3.
Imaad Shahrukh or Darth Maul in Episode 1.
Horrormaster13 At least Darth Maul came back in The Clone Wars as a fully complex villain and used bottomless pit as an excuse for his unexpected return. Too bad for Snoke though. They show his corpse on-screen as if to say "Yup, he ain't coming back."
DragonInferno99 Ω phasma only exists so Disney can sell chrome stormtroopers. Same thing for them finding a way to put Porgs in every other shot.
and like any Marvel villain LOL (except Bucky and Thanos)
