I totally agree with you. "tomb raider" and "uncharted" game playing implementation and mechanics is what I'd expect to see in a game like this one. What a waste of resources and money! I wouldn't buy it.
I played Chronicles of Riddick before so the game play here will be fantastic as FPS view is more immerse then full on 3rd person view. I do like the 3rd person view when it changes like hanging off the cliff or something too.

Everybody that’s complaining it being first person obviously don’t realize there is in fact third person gameplay as well when Indy is climbing, swinging and interacting with items.
First person perspective sucks for video games in general. However it’s even worse when you have an iconic character like Indy, a character we actually want to see while we play. This game is a huge misfire, and I’m shocked the developers didn’t see it.
