Same. Plenty of potholes, and don't forget the a-holes. Do appreciate the ride reviews of BMC bikes, including the Roadmachine review on your channel btw.
I have a house in France next to the Swiss border. It's hard to overstate how expensive everything is in Switzerland. They are proud that everything costs three times as much. Which is why so many swiss people come to France to buy stuff and consume services. Point being: when you're a gym class instructor and you make 60k a year, even you can buy a top of the range BMC. Doesn't mean the value is there. But you have enough people to pay for that. And they do make nice bikes!
I was listening to popular podcast and they had issue with it being called the Teammachine. They thought it was confusing and should have been the new Timemachine. But, listening to your explanation, I realize why they call it a Teammachine since it has the geometry.
Funny the looks may be a negative. Not only does it look great, the fact that it looks different, which you say may be a negative, is actually a huge positive. In a world where bikes look more and more similar and more Chinese brands are putting out frames that also look similar to western brand bikes, this one stands out. Which is a good thing.
Most of us won't be able to afford this bike or any other super bike. It's a massive investment. I build my own Tarmac SL7 only because, usually, the frame, groupsets and Wheels go on sale at reduced price at some point. I wonder if BMC will offer a frameset for sale. Nowadays more experienced rider would rather buy the frameset instead of a full build, as they know what works form them. In regards to the bar width I rather have a narrow handlebar than a super wide one (Canyon should learn one thing or two with BMC). Anyway, great video 👌
thanks for sharing your thoughts - the more opinions we have access to to the easier it becomes to make a judgement. Impressions have a lot of value with or without data.
I bet they will make a Teammachine R (no 01) like the team machine SLR (and SLR01) with a lower grade carbon and the frame will be 200g heavier 🤣. It will be when I buy the cheaper frame and build it.
Good review Cam. I have thoroughly enjoyed all your reviews and appreciate your honesty. As an Aussie I love they way you do your reviews and have learnt a lot from them. I have been lucky enough to pay my deposit on the frame set (TeamMachine R01) in Melbourne via my local bike shop. Should arrive in Jan/Feb 2024 Then the fun of a bike build begins!!!
Haha, you couldn't help yourself!!... Mate, I remember you test rode the BMC Teammachine Slr01 2021 model, and you loved it and gave it 5 star review?? The video is still up on UA-cam😂 ua-cam.com/video/BYAJVcEVSdk/v-deo.htmlsi=qUEfLoh2t3goYQCe
I wouldn't call tire clearance for 28mm generous you know Cam. That's another minus considering for the ~same price you can get SL8 with 32mm tire clearance.
-Love the fact that it's developed w/ Redbull. So you know the marketing isn't all bs. -Colorways are decent. Not the best, but not too boring black. I'm personally eyeing the Di2 build. -Cockpit options are left to be desired. Handlebars come stock with the bike w/ no options to customize from the initial build (like how Factor does). I know for a fact that I'll be switching out to a longer stem because I'm capable of riding stretched and aero, but the 42 flared at the bottom doesn't make sense to me especially if you're riding in the drops or sprinting in the hoods. I dislike that they went the "gravel" way of doing things Given the current economy and pricing of flagship bikes... Not really anything in the market eye catching in terms of a new bike purchase, but this one caught my attention and perhaps the next gen of Dogmas. We'll see as I already sold off one of my bikes hmm.
Why is the superior groupset on the 2nd tier? (Dura ace having the faster front mech shifting, better braking performance even compared to their lower tier hydraulic groupsets vs red/force level hydraulic system) The only 2 downsides to the dura ace are: 1. Crankset bad impression 2. Not being fully wireless(but it's up for debate cause there are people who don't prefer the sram system)
Nice review Cam. Just as a random aside t and bout here here's a load of BMC bikes out here on a weekend - and I'm in Belgium so these are educated buyers!
Cam - keep up the great work man. Long time fan and your series just keep getting better and better. Would you consider reviewing TokyoWheel? They have a crazy value proposition, with similar designs to Princeton Carbonworks. Would be cool to see how they perform! Thanks.
I'm eyeing the module, but prefer the Ultegra color way... I'm happy about the geo changes... I dont have to buy a 47cm and put a 130 stem on it anymore to have some seat post showing :)
If you live in Australia and want a different handlebar with the ICS02 stem... good luck. I've been waiting months, and some combination of BMC and/or Advanced Traders (distributor) simply can't get their act together.
Don’t think there is any question, this ticks all the boxes of a super bike. I just hope that I don’t see it getting reamed by Hambini and Mapdec. If these top race bike brands put the same effort into QC and execution that they did in their R&D, Hambini and Mapdec wouldn’t even have a channel anymore (but don’t get it twisted; I am thankful we have them calling out the big brand’s bullshit).
I love my madone but I def like this especially with the white black paint. I def lifeaero bikes, cleanmbing bikes look like they will break, I over 100kg. I do like my comfy madone but it’s not why I bought it.
Love your work, my friend😊 You provide a very detailed, honest, and i formative review... Love the look of it! However, I might hold off at this stage stick my Teammachine SLR01... The new R sounds maybe a little too stiff for everyday riding in Australia by the sounds of things..
That’s basically the same conclusion on the bike as other reviewers said. For me this is a bit disappointing, as the big difference of the teammachine to other high end race bikes always was the comfort. When I swap bikes with someone in my riding group, everyone is amazed how plush my teammachine slr01 feels. No road vibrations, no harsh hits when hitting a hole, no pain in the lower back. This also gives a lot of confidence when descending. Of course it depends on the wheels and handlebars too. So for me the new TM R is not really made for long distances if you don’t want to suffer more than needed.
I have a 2018 Team Machine Like your older one Cam, so I don’t care if your bias 😂 brilliant review 😍 this new bike is unreal and probably pretty fast!! AND the cheaper Tier 4 model looks pretty good too!! So I’ll be saving up 🤞🏻😃
Yeeah Cam, I've always appreciated your videos and I've always loved the effort you put in them, keep going 'cause you're doing great! I have a suggestion if you don't mind, can you talk about one of the problems that cyclists have while riding? What I am thinking about is the time when you have to pee. My father used to ride a lor and when he told me he used to... wet his pants I felt really surprised!
Sounds like a real nice bike. Especially for those that can handle the stiffness and less comfort. On another note though. Just noticed the Assioma Duos on the bike, ive been considering them for a little while now, the same with the quarqs powermeters, is there anything really important for the Assiomas that maybe isnt that obvious. Its quite a lot of money and i dont want to be buying twice because the first thing didnt work out
The Assioma pm is great. Have it for 3 years now, never any issues. Very easy to swap between bikes, very good battery lifetime. Why not being the one sided model instead of the Duo? Saves you some bucks and unless ur a pro, who needs a dual pm? You see a few Watts difference between ur left n right leg, ok but than what are you going to do about it? Hence one sided is good enough in my opinion
Haha that first shot on the bridge. How many “F***ing UA-camr” comments were muttered under breaths? I feel like everyone is saying that when I whip the GoPro out on the selfie stick.
Nope. Dont fall for a 14,000 dollar scam. The frame alone is over 5,000 bucks, and BMC doesn't state this is a T1100 frameset ANYWHERE on their website. AXS isnt a thing anymore with both Sensah and L twoo offering complete systems that still have full carbon bikes at UCI weight limits. A full build of this top tier caliber bike is less than 3,000 BUCKS, FROM CHINA. This is SPORTING EQUIPMENT folks, and you simply dont have to pay these prices for the best of the best anymore.
Living in Los Angeles, I cant even imagine a road without a pothole 😅 Swiss roads sound like a dream! Great first impression video, Cam!
Being from Los Angeles as well, I agree wholeheartedly 😂
Same. Plenty of potholes, and don't forget the a-holes. Do appreciate the ride reviews of BMC bikes, including the Roadmachine review on your channel btw.
@@dlbutler thanks dude!
never clicked so fast in my life
Never considered BMC but after seeing this video it’s in my “next bike to buy bucket list”
So the advertising works
Melee

I dream of this bike, it looks amazing
Maybe Velobuild will make a new version of the 218 with BMC Teammachine R inspiration. 😅
While I'd never buy a bike with that pricetag. It is a beautiful bike. Love the more relaxed geometry as well.
I was listening to popular podcast and they had issue with it being called the Teammachine. They thought it was confusing and should have been the new Timemachine. But, listening to your explanation, I realize why they call it a Teammachine since it has the geometry.

Price is steep and I agree there. But the narrow bar and non typical aero bike look are pluses in my book.
Most of us won't be able to afford this bike or any other super bike. It's a massive investment. The design looks so good 🤤
thanks for sharing your thoughts - the more opinions we have access to to the easier it becomes to make a judgement. Impressions have a lot of value with or without data.
Main negative for myself is the max 28mm tire size.
if you're willing to reduce the clearance I'm sure 30s woud fit.
Just wanted to say that I appreciate the transparency on bias at the beginning of the video. Love your content and approach to reviews.
Loved the no BS comprehensive evaluation thanks Cam truth i love all the BMC models these are beautifully made bikes.
Sick! I work in a BMC retailer, cant wait to have some in stock!
I much prefer the design - and the price! - of the standard Teammachine. I hope they continue to make the non-R bike.
I bet they will make a Teammachine R (no 01) like the team machine SLR (and SLR01) with a lower grade carbon and the frame will be 200g heavier 🤣.
It will be when I buy the cheaper frame and build it.
Strangely balanced. Nice work Cam
Man that bike is so sick! I love the way it looks!

Looks super easy to work on and would be easy to get parts for it down the track.

Current TM01R limit is 28, but can fit 30. So if the limit is 30 and actually fit 32.. No issue.
SL8 and S5 all day long. At least BMC addressed the noodle fork.

buy the decathlon bike bruv
The next Mpc is going to be built upon this design.
Ordered the 'four' model. A lot of the shops aren't getting many of these in, might be quite hard to find!

Thank you and please get some "ol mate" comment in between, as we all love his take too!
Bloody hell, lowest spec is still $9K 😮 cycling has become a rich man sport....
Great honest review. Would be interesting to ride the BMC and really feel the difference to my bikes. One day. Cheers, Chrissi
Such a sick bike! Thank you for sharing
Are the holes round, though?
Nice review Cam. Just as a random aside t and bout here here's a load of BMC bikes out here on a weekend - and I'm in Belgium so these are educated buyers!
Thanks for the review Cam. When do they land in Aus for purchase?
I was so interested until I saw the price😂
Cam - keep up the great work man. Long time fan and your series just keep getting better and better. Would you consider reviewing TokyoWheel? They have a crazy value proposition, with similar designs to Princeton Carbonworks. Would be cool to see how they perform! Thanks.

Are you still using 165 cranks (just saw your video on it) on your newest SLR 01 (the black and white one)?
Shame we won't be seeing it in Aus anytime soon 😢
I love my madone but I def like this especially with the white black paint. I def lifeaero bikes, cleanmbing bikes look like they will break, I over 100kg.
I do like my comfy madone but it’s not why I bought it.
Still think it looks a lot like the Giant Propel (aero in the front and lightweight climbing in the back features) with a much bigger price.
The dura ace will explode.😂❤😅
ICS2 aero handlebars narrow are compatible with the SLR01..I wonder if thy are lighter?
Love your work, my friend😊 You provide a very detailed, honest, and i formative review... Love the look of it! However, I might hold off at this stage stick my Teammachine SLR01... The new R sounds maybe a little too stiff for everyday riding in Australia by the sounds of things..
Beautiful bike BMC Love it £12.000 😮💸💲💰💰🤑🤑🤑

Yes agreed I have the Teammachine slr01 which is great all around bike.. Think the new R is built for crit racing on smooth roads...
Looks nice, but production quality and QC we're really not there in the last few year's with BMC :/

BMC cannot be planning to supply their UCI customer teams with the current SLR01 in 2024 grand tours can they? When will we see the next model…
Sounds like a real nice bike. Especially for those that can handle the stiffness and less comfort.

Have you ever tried a Trek Madone SLR?
Maybe I missed it.. but what is special about the LTD models.
1:36 double power meter ftw lol
not gonna lie, this bike looks sexy
Lack of adjustability of cockpit sizing and tyre clearance are unfortunate.
Finally 🎉❤
Geometry and seattube design.. look like Pinarello
Haha that first shot on the bridge. How many “F***ing UA-camr” comments were muttered under breaths? I feel like everyone is saying that when I whip the GoPro out on the selfie stick.
Get Adrian Newy to design aero bike
give me a Roadmachine set up to go fast any time.
Since this video I feel this bike’s hype just wore off.
Since you’re sponsored by bmc and they’ve flown you out a couple times I’m expecting a biased reviewed…
👌
$15,000 USD for a bike. Really? Don't get me wrong, I love cycling, but today's bike prices are getting crazy.
AHFTAH MAHKAHT BAHS XD
noice
SWISS ROADS ARE GOOD, BUT YOU GOTTA COME BACK IN THE ALPS AND THE HARSH WINTER CONDITIONS TAKE A TOLL ON THESE POOR ROADS...
Looks great except for the colour. So sick of black.
It's always good to see the bike I might be riding in 5 years when the previous owner will go for a new toy!
So 14kusd becomes a 20k aud bike. I think I'll pass.
People, don't fall for it and buy this bike
Onya Cam.
😅
bring the fucking venge back
I wish they would design different names for their bikes. Way too confusing.
I have come to the conclusion that aero bikes just don't look very good. Even this petite version is too beefy for my tastes.
Nope. Dont fall for a 14,000 dollar scam. The frame alone is over 5,000 bucks, and BMC doesn't state this is a T1100 frameset ANYWHERE on their website. Pathetic price. Buy a good car for that.
Cash for comments schill.
That bb is hideous, hardly a classic aesthetic, all other bmc aged well, like the pro machine, this won't🎉
Too expensive! I will NEVER Pay that money for a bike! Give me 5k dollars and I build a winner bike!
Looks awful
Overpriced.
Sponsored review. Same old marketing speech. Same old “only negative is the price”
He said more than that
@@troycollett8540 Yeap. He said “negative” things that are highly subjective such as looks and price. Not bad
