I heard that the "mystery" flavor for airheads is the combination of leftover flavors they have at the end of other batches... meaning that almost every mystery white airhead you have will be a unique flavor unless it came from the same batch. So shaking it won't change the flavor, it was already unique

Fun candy fact: the mystery flavor is generally just where two different colors have touched or overlapped. Another fun candy fact: in a KitKat bar, the stuff that holds the wafers together is just ground up KitKat bars that didn’t pass inspection for appearance. They were perfectly safe, they just looked ugly. So they got thrown into a vat with all the other ugly KitKats and turned into a paste for other KitKats. The more you know! Edit: I was wrong about the airheads, it’s the leftovers of different batches, so they don’t necessarily overlap, there just isn’t enough left over to finish another round, so they mix up the leftovers. Then, instead of using more wafers and chocolate just to make the paste, they used the undesirable KitKats. More cost effective. (This is just my guess. I don’t know for sure.)
The mystery flavor is the mix between flavor batches without the coloring. So no two are ever the same, but would also affect the way the flavor taste as it combines.
It's a smart move. Usually they have to throw that out since it's merely used to clean the machines when they change fllavours. They do the same with chocolate and that saved chocolate is for some reason more expensive.

I could’ve sworn old airheads commercials had the kids eating it as a strip of candy, not a cube. I don’t understand. They’re also usually super hard, so I don’t get how they’d turn into a cube just by shaking.
Bro should make a book of Fast Food secrets and food secrets, I would buy it. Also, Mystery flavour changed all the time because they add residue of previous flavours and mix them Together, so sometimes it tastes like green apple and sometimes like cherry.
Truth, but also if you folded it it would have the same effect, he's tasting the flaver more because when you eat it flat a bite is less candy, he could've folded it or rolled it up in a ball like I used to and got the same effect tbh
Used to do this all the time as a kid. Not sure it changed anything more than the shape. Was just something kids did for fun. Like popping a bag of chips open by forcing the air out instead of pulling it open.
From a guy that literally sat next to those students that were fortunate enough to know this back in 2010, this was extremely difficult to ignore in a classroom 😂😂
nah, condensing them just pushes out the air and makes them more dense. imo shaking them made them harder to eat and hurt my jaw more than eating them normally lol
Started doing this after your video, and did compare them. 100% it makes it better, you can even get it just a bit smaller and more flavourful than your end result.
20 years ago i was in second grade, I still have memories of the other kids in my class buying airheads and then shaking them like a Polaroid picture while dancing like it was some sort of "trend" 😂 waaaaay before UA-cam even existed 🥲😮 just like those old school nursery rhymes, kids share their knowledge through the ages ❤
I vaguely recall doing this in elementary school and/or middle school in the early and mid 2000s. I don't know if it had anything to do with the flavor profile (probably not), and we probably all just learned from each other and thought it was fun how it got smaller as we shook them, but we used to do it all the time. It was just a thing. I remember my fingers getting sore from constantly moving them down to where the Airheads candy was as it shrunk. Lol.
Here I was thinking, "Dude, it's an Airhead. What are you going to do, roll it?" And the second you said you needed to shake it, I suddenly flashed back to the roller rink in the fourth grade. Thank you so much.
Everyone thinks the mystery flavor is a new flavor, but it isn’t it’s how the clean the machines in between flavors. They add the flavor but not the color of the next flavor they want to make, and let them mix until they it’s mostly the new flavor in the machine, then they sell the mix as a “mystery flavor”
I've never ever heard of this, and how is that even possible it's fucking taffy how would it compact from shaking it? Let's you know we don't actually know the science of thing and thing we say are scientifically proven are just things majority of scientists may agree on not 100% factual, because this some physics defying shit here and pointless you can just fold it or rol it up together and get the same effect you're just getting more candy in a bite basically the flavor ain't different your mouth is just fuller of the flavor lofl
@@BigGoated well I’m not a scientist but I am a chef so I can explain how it works. Taffy isn’t exactly a solid, it’s a fluid. As it compresses it gets warmer and softer which affects the texture and even the flavor. It’s a bit creamier than normal, you don’t get the same effect if you just fold it up.
The ladies at my nephews ball game couldn't figure out why there was a "run" on airheads... I think this might be why 😂 thanks for spreading information Jordan! We love you (and Harvey)

Here's how I eat them. I take 2 air heads, THEN I put the 2 candies together, and I twist them to make a little candy spiral. Then I eat it from top to bottom. Instantly, better.
We had these at our skate rink. We'd get em, skate and skate for a few minutes. (1 song) then eat. Everyone knew this. We would also open up one end and combine flavors. Amazing summer camp 90s vibes...

@@NewYorkCityGritty5 you think Joseph would have stayed with Mary after Jesus was born if he wasn't getting any?
I went back to watch the old commercials from early 2000s and NONE of them show any of the actors eating AirHeads like this. Which leads me to believe that not even AirHeads the company knows how to properly eat this candy. Jordan, you are doing the Lord’s work, thank you 🙏🏽

LOVE YOUR CONTENT MAN!!! LOL, good stuff for real 😂
Airheads be proving for the last 20 years that we really are Airheads. 😂
Underrated 😂
😂
I could’ve sworn old airheads commercials had the kids eating it as a strip of candy, not a cube. I don’t understand. They’re also usually super hard, so I don’t get how they’d turn into a cube just by shaking.
@winry2357 it does form a cube by shaking it. I tried a few years ago. I wouldn't go so far to say it tastes that different though
@@stephaniekilpatrick1028 good to know. I may have to try at some point.
Bro should make a book of Fast Food secrets and food secrets, I would buy it. Also, Mystery flavour changed all the time because they add residue of previous flavours and mix them
Together, so sometimes it tastes like green apple and sometimes like cherry.
Truth, but also if you folded it it would have the same effect, he's tasting the flaver more because when you eat it flat a bite is less candy, he could've folded it or rolled it up in a ball like I used to and got the same effect tbh
I used to do this when i was little. I didn’t know about the flavor change, i just thought it was cool how the candy was slowly disappearing 😂
Used to do this all the time as a kid. Not sure it changed anything more than the shape. Was just something kids did for fun. Like popping a bag of chips open by forcing the air out instead of pulling it open.
You’re like a father figure to us all now.. we learn to much from you 😅
Read your bible! (KJV, preferably) ❤️❤
Basically yeah
I miss my dad 💔
From a guy that literally sat next to those students that were fortunate enough to know this back in 2010, this was extremely difficult to ignore in a classroom 😂😂
Wtf how did they know?! It just clicked for yall 😂
Dude, half my childhood was shaking those damned thing.
Doing this not only adds flavor but also gives it a better overall texture than just eating it. So crazy😂
He found this out now and I found this out a year ago. For context, I unconsciously shook it like OCD. Ate it and it was good.
Involuntarily shook it. Because your were still conscious.
Was not ocd you're not quirky
I’ve been doing this since middle school and I’m 29 now. It makes me very happy to know that people are still discovering this.
Same!
dude im 37 i never heard of this and i eat and give them away .
Bro found a way to inflate "AIR HEADS"
nah, condensing them just pushes out the air and makes them more dense.
imo shaking them made them harder to eat and hurt my jaw more than eating them normally lol
I SWEAR JORDAN IS AN ALIEN! HOW DOES HE KNOW ALL THIS!?!? 🤯

At this point companies contact him to give him secrets for his content
This guy must be going back in time and reliving his life and providing us with these little tidbits we missed on our first go around.
Started doing this after your video, and did compare them. 100% it makes it better, you can even get it just a bit smaller and more flavourful than your end result.
It's cool to know that Airheads can do that, but in all the commercials I saw as a kid, the kids that ate them ate them normally--no shaking at all.
Where the fuck did u grow up at...where this was second graders common knowledge ...
Lol.
Yeah this. It was just a thing you did in elementary to basically play with your food lol. I still do it out of habit/nostalgia to this day though 😂
Weak ahh fingers
@@jenniferfreese6816Same. I mean I haven't had an airhead in a minute tho
Yup
Facts I was thinking about everything you said that's accurate
Here I was thinking, "Dude, it's an Airhead. What are you going to do, roll it?" And the second you said you needed to shake it, I suddenly flashed back to the roller rink in the fourth grade. Thank you so much.
Everyone thinks the mystery flavor is a new flavor, but it isn’t it’s how the clean the machines in between flavors. They add the flavor but not the color of the next flavor they want to make, and let them mix until they it’s mostly the new flavor in the machine, then they sell the mix as a “mystery flavor”
I remember learning about this on the playground at lunchtime, been doing it ever since. Man, the 90’s were so fun.
"They made our fidget toys into the candy back in my day, but that was before kids started eating tide pods." -millennial
I used to do this too. Also in the 90s.
Spitting 100% facts, been doing this since the 90s. Only way I know how to eat them.
The ladies at my nephews ball game couldn't figure out why there was a "run" on airheads... I think this might be why 😂 thanks for spreading information Jordan! We love you (and Harvey)

The mystery flavor is whatever doesn’t get used in the factory so it’s not wasteful and a true mystery.
I love that i did this when i was little because it also made it easier to eat and softer.
Wow
same! I always did this as well, or i would take it out and roll it into balls before eating. They were like 15 cents at the corner store when I was a kid. Id get them all the time. I didnt know this was the correct way. I was just bored and greedy lol
@@itzshadowbeezle So? It was convenient.
@@slenderguardian yea but no different taste would of just rathered eat it flat
This is the first tip from Jordan I actually knew before watching the video. It's gonna be a good day!
Man came to the comments to look if anyone else knew , my sister showed me this when I was young and had ate them like that since 😂
Kids always did this when I was a kid, but i I’d no idea why. I didn’t know it was a legit thing. I just thought it was a fad at my school.
I was told this by kids on my swim team when I was in like middle school, but I always thought they were making it up 😂
I knew but I forgot😂 Jordan reminded me
That makes SO much sense now! I always thought I got a defective airhead growing up. And I’d think 🤔 damn it taste better smaller though lol 😂
It's for the different texture, haven't done this in forever tho. The best texture is to stretch it out even thinner.
I used to do that on the bus to summer camp every year lol core memory unlocked
Am I the obly one whose mouth watered immediate upon seeing an airhead 😂
That was the sound of my school lunch room. Just a bunch of delinquents shaking airheads.
And some of them had candy! 😅
FINALLY SOMETHING IV BEEN DOING RIGHT!!! Everyone always look at me dumb when i do that😂
My whole ass middle school did this shit
I used to teach and my kids would all do this and I learned from the youths.
Mystery flavor is the last bits of flavor bins all mixed together in production.
My school friends and I would do this and then twist the upper wrapper until the airhead becomes a ball, or garbage bag shape. It becomes a chewy jawbreaker
I don't think you comprehend what a job breaker is...
@@Dachmine I do, and jawbreakers run a large list of chewable candies to the giant bricks that we all know. Gobb stoppers are jaw breakers and I can crush those pretty easy in my jaw
