In this video we have decided to go all in. The hidden tang bowie with a shaped, Elforyn Super Tusk handle is our demonstration of the dedication to the craft. The film itself is made in a manner that's different than usual. We have based it on the dynamic shots with addition of the slow motion to show the process in a creative way.

How to blacken steel (hot oxide):
A mixture of caustic soda (700g), potasium saltpeter (250g) and water (1,2 l)
The temperature of the solution should be kept between 120 - 140 C.
I keep the knife inside for about 30 minutes to get consistent black colour, you can manipulate the time to achieve different results, shorter period should give you dark brown or purple - ish colour.
Be careful - this mixture is highly corrosive!
Heat treatment:
-Austenizing temperature: 830 C
-Tempering: 180 C

A beautiful piece of work! I just find the music overwhelming. I would rather listen to the workshop sounds. I love watching videos of fighter jets, but some people put music with it. I want to listen to the engines, not music! Greetings out of a wet Cape Town, South Africa.

Interesting style - although music can never match natural sounds. One question, why the dinky size. A proper Bowie should be twice this length at the very least.

I found the caustic soda and potassium saltpepper.
You just add the chemicals in cold water and stir ?
Your formula says 1,2l water for 250g saltpepper and 700g soda, but how much of the final solution is enough to treat 1 knife in a 30cm diameter inox pot ?
Can you treat 2 or 3 knifes at the same time ?
How many times can the solution be re used after ?
How long can it be stored then ?

The movement is awkward for this style of content. I believe other ppl like myself watch these videos to focus and admire the craftsmanship and skill you put into designing and making these knives. It's peaceful and relaxing to watch, like art in motion. I feel the camera style in this video takes away from that. Beautiful knife at the end though.

Only epoxy holding the handle...pin is mandatory as knife goes under several rough conditions..overall it is beautiful piece
